    Lol, i was playing the 1080p video more in terms of testing performance at the high bitrate. I know its a 720p screen. Thanks for watching :-)

    Thanks for watching. Yes it does, from what i've read they've got a very small profit margin on these, the aim is to get out to the mass market.

    Awesome, thanks for the feedback! Currently i'm just reviewing cameras and any other tech I get my hands on, but lets see how it goes :-)

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes it has a volume up and down buttons on the left hand side near the power button. One thing I missed out was close ups of all the ports and buttons.

    you can buy both magazines and videos in the UK as far as I am aware, however they may be a limited selection compared to the US

    As far as I am aware there aren't, it's currently just available for pre-order online. I guess I was just lucky to get mine early. But pretty sure they will have them in some stores in a few weeks time

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes there was a system update ready when it was turned it on, not sure exactly what they were (my brother was having a look at it at the time). Thanks for watching.

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    true, however in the review i was referring more the the playback of the video (as a 1080p video has a high bitrate) and seeing how smoothly it plays

  • @SuperSaf

    yes the iPlayer app does work now, also yes the only 3G version is the 32GB

    Thanks Dave, I think there are currently quite a few videos testing the gaming performance on TH-cam already so don't think I will be doing one.

    Yes HTML5 does play more smoother i agree, but as you mentioned many websites still need to adopt it.

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    i agree, there's lots of apps that you can only install on the device anyway, so you can only use external storage for other things.

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    nicely answered by @TheGumbyy below. For the standard version you will need a WiFi connection but the £239 version has mobile data so you can add a sim and connect to the internet anywhere (but you will obviously have to buy the sim and pay for the data charges). Personally my advice would be to use your smart phone as a WiFi hotspot if you need to use your tablet out and about, saves you paying for another sim.

    Hey, thanks man. Hmm not too sure buddy, i've not come across one myself

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've tried basic questions like, "Restaurants nearby" or "Chinese restaurants nearby" and it does returns list.

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    also sorry, the work around doesn't seem to function any more, they've blocked it. So no Flash :-(

  • @SuperSaf

    Thanks for watching Rob :-) All the best

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks, also yes my brother had installed the Task Killer (coming from Froyo) but got rid of that soon after.
    Landscape orientation is only limited somewhat, such as on the homescreen etc.. but generally not an issue (when browsing etc.). In my opinion if you have something like the S3 which already has quite a large screen, then it doesn't offer that much more. However I guess it depends on what you are using it for, the larger screen does make it easier for reading and web browsing.

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    true, but I am seeing more and more apps tagged "HD", which are more suited for the resolution and screen sizes of tablets. Also because the Nexus 7 isn't too big and just 7inches, the mobile apps are not too bad compared with having them on a 10 inch tablet

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hmm difficult question. For me, it would be the Nexus. But i guess it depends on personal preference, here's a few pointers on both:
    HTC Flyer - Front facing cam, SD Card slot
    Nexus 7 - Lighter, Quad core processor, Android Jelly bean, HD display
    Do a comparison on GSM arena which will give you a good idea of specs.

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    It will open the video in the native TH-cam app usually but you can also play it in the browser as TH-cam also uses HTML 5 rather than flash so no problems

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Cheers, thank you for watching :-)

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    No was testing out some of the other ones, the default is more of a multicolour one

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks, appreciate the feedback :-) Not sure what the exact material is but it does feel really nice, got a good gripped texture to it. I would say it is less likely to get scratches but not scratch proof.

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    It really depends on what you will be using it for? The Kindle Fire HD has more storage but Nexus is faster (quad core). So if you will be using it more for reading, then Kindle. More for gaming and high performance tasks, then Nexus 7.

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi, the mobile data version is now available on the Play store. But realistically speaking I don't see a huge benefit for it. I personally use my phone as a WiFi hotspot and connect to that with my Nexus. Saves me having to get two separate contracts.

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    best way is to connect the Nexus 7 to your computer via the Micro USB lead and and transfer the video files onto the device. Depending on the format of the videos you may need to download a different video player from the App store. I think Mobo player is pretty good but there are others too. All the best

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes it does, the US one sound much better. Not sure if/how you can change it, will let you know if i find a way.

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Treating me pretty well so far. What I really like about it is the portability and it's light weight body, fits nicely in the hand. I used to get annoyed using the Motorola Xoom for too long, but because of the weight of this, its really comfortable to use. The 7inch form factor comes down to the individual i think, to me it's fine. Also pretty durable in my opinion too.

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi thanks. Battery life on tablets is generally pretty good. Currently I'm charging it every other day, but that's with roughly 4 hours usage per day. Technically it should give you up to 9-10 hours use and 300 hours of standby (according to official specs)

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    depends, it has a better processor and native android (the Kindle has it's own skin which means you won't get the latest updates right away) but the Kindle has HDMI out and more storage

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks, currently my broadband speed isn't great which is why i'm exporting at 720p to get the videos on in a reasonable time lol. But will look into it :-)

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    You might want to look at the Acer Iconia A110 Tablet which is available for preorder, it has an SD card slot and similar specs (not exact though, Nexus 7 is lighter, better res screen and more battery power)

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    thanks for subscribing, I have done a comparison video of the specs of the iPad Mini and the Nexus 7. Check that out, hope it helps.

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    cheers, would you recommend the best reliable source to get the APK?

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    It doesn't neceseraly replace a laptop, there's obviously things which would be easier on a Laptop to do (e.g. typing on a touch screen is not as quick as using a keyboard). But for general use that you have mentioned, a tablet is great, loads up much faster, easy to use and you have all those apps too. Personally I think this it great for a first time buyer, good price and very easy to use system. And whether you get bored of it is really dependant on person lol

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would, definitely the best value for money tablet on the market right now!

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    There's a work around to get Flash on, I will try posting a demo soon

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yeh I very much doubt the Surface or any Apple iPad version (possibly the iPad Mini that's rumoured) will be anyway near this price. Also there is a work around to get Flash, will be posting a demo soon :-)

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Feels pretty solid to me and i really like the back, its got a nice textured grip which makes it comfortable to hold. Also the silver rim does seem like metal to me.

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    LOL, i would say my hands are about average size (if not slightly bigger) but not giant. Have a look at around @5:30 in the video when I compare it to the 10.1 Motorola Xoom tablet will give you some idea of the size.

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Personally I think so, but it really depends on the individual. It's smaller than the current iPad, but faster and less than half the price of the cheapest version.

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Lol, true. I think it's a "nice to have" to an extent, for example if you're doing a video call and want to switch to front view to show the caller what you're seeing. But not vital for sure.

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    if you are happy with the form factor of the Nexus 7, it's half the price, something to consider

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks, I think you can stream live football but that will depend on the provider. As for Flash, it has a HTML 5 player and "most" websites now have an alternative to Flash (e.g. TH-cam shows you a video in FLV Flash if you have it, else uses MP4 in HTML 5)

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thank you for the feedback :-) Lol yes I agree with you, I didn't actually realise until I saw some other US reviews

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks, it really depends tbh. Do you do a lot of web browsing and/or gaming at home? It's really useful for that, as you've got a much bigger screen than the iPhone and the battery life is much better too. But generally speaking, for the price it's a definitely a nice additional device to have around the house and to use on the go (if you use your iPhone as a WiFi hotspot for it)

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    in that case you probably want to go for something like a Samsung Galaxy S3. Which is an all in one and has a decent size screen too. I have one and love it (you can see an unboxing of it on my channel). A Nexus 7 only has WiFi connection so you can't go online with it if you are not connected to a WiFi network so that probably wouldn't be suitable for you.

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks Martin, appreciate the feedback :-)

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    it is, but i'm pretty sure the BBC iPlayer app will be compatible soon, they have to

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    yes of course, the TH-cam app is the best thing to use but even on the browser TH-cam uses HTML 5 rather than flash so no problems

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    From what i've read they're barely making a profit on the 8GB version so that's why the 16GB is that much extra and you can only get the 8GB directly from Google Play. Other retails only stock the 16GB version. But I do see what you mean

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    interesting, will check it out. Where can you get the APK from?

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    it really depends what people want to see, i started putting together a demo of how to get Flash on it but they blocked it right after lol

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    not sure mate, have a search on Google, i'm sure there will be some useful articles

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    hey, thing is the cheapest iPad is £400 which is more than double the price of the Nexus 7. And even if Apple release an iPad mini or similar I very much doubt it will anywhere near the Nexus 7 price point based on Apple's usual mark up. Obviously the decision is yours but in my opinion I think based on value for money alone this is much better than an iPad. Hope that helps.

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Depends on who you order from, I preordered from ebuyer.com came earlier than I expected

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think the apps will gradually get updates and work, e.g. Instagram now works. As for Windows 8 Surface, i wonder what the pricing will be? Also the thing that puts me off Windows Surface tablets is the lack of Apps, it's too late in the game to catch up with Android and Apple I think. And thanks for the feedback, will try slowing down a bit in future

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just portrait, the home screens don't switch to landscape

    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    view flash based websites (but most have a backup these days anyway) and view some videos within webpages (e.g. on the BBC websites). Although popular services such as TH-cam and Vimeo now have HTML5 players. Basically Flash on mobile devices is a "nice to have", but not vital.

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Don't think they will unfortunately, Adobe themselves have stopped supporting Flash on Android 4.1 and above.

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey I have not used the Surface much but I guess with Office and the touch keyboard it will be a good option for a student. However you may be limited in terms of apps. Yes I agree iPad is a bit too simplistic, and as for the S3 which has a decent sized screen you may want to consider something like the Nexus 10 which is larger rather than a Nexus 7. All the best

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    No versions of the official Flash app work with the Nexus apparently. The notice on the App says only Android versions before 4.0 support Flash, newer ones don't. Although @keithpurdum below mentioned that you can load Flash with another browser such as Dolphin, but I have not had a chance to test that as yet.
    Also thanks for the suggestion for the camera launcher app, will check it out :-)

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nope. Well not in UK, not sure about everyone where else. Apparently it's only available in the US i think?

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    thank you, really appreciate the feedback :-)

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    You do have apps on there for Word Processing but not Microsoft Word. Personally on a tablet I use Google docs. But it is limited and as @tetiraelian mentioned, maybe not so practical. The example i can think of is creating diagrams within Word, would be very difficult to do that on any Tablet (this or the iPad). Simple notes on a tablet shouldn't be too bad but a laptop or netbook would be better suited for assignments I think

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Lol you have a very good eye for detail. Yes, my brother installed it while he was testing it out, just uninstalled it this morning.

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    You're right, not sure why the UK one sounds like that

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hmm I don't actually have the a Google Music account, will let you know if get a chance to test it.

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey, personally I prefer Android as it is more flexible and similar spec devices are much cheaper. Nexus 7 is great!

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yeh the stock one is pretty good. Will check out Nova Launcher, not tried it b4.

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Most Flash video players have a backup HTML 5 player anyway so it shouldn't be much of an issue. Just websites that are Flash based may be a little problem, but again nothing major

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    yes that is a down side, but not many people use their tablets to take pics (personally I find it awkward). Having said that the Galaxy tab is a good tablet too, all the best :-)

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    coming from a XOOM, yes it's great. Technically not as good as the new iPad (264 ppi), the Nexus 7 is 216 ppi. But realistically speaking I don't think it makes that much of a difference.

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Not too sure unfortunately, although apparently Tesco Direct have a great deal on right now for the Nexus 7. Have a look at Hot UK Deals.
    Also thanks :-)

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks man, appreciate the support :-)

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    hmm not too sure about iTunes, I don't use it much

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    TH-cam has an Android app which works much better than viewing videos via the browser, and without Flash the TH-cam videos on the browser will still work fine (as it uses the HTML 5 player). It's only websites such as BBC iPlayer which solely use Flash video which you won't be able to view and Flash based websites.

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nope, currently no Google Magazine App in the UK unfortunately.

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    thanks for the feedback :-)

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think there are some unofficial work arounds for Flash although I have not been successful with them. However most websites now use HTML5 for videos anyway so in terms of watching videos on the web it shouldn't be a huge deal

  • @SuperSaf
    @SuperSaf  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    interesting, will try that out, thanks for the info!
