Andy, for the love of your hard-working family and future, please quit smoking!!! Stick around for your kids, you don't want all the health problems, it's not worth it. I am looking at dealing with throat cancer, smoked for over 20 years, quit 10 years ago. Guess it wasn't soon enough. I'm not blaming my father, but if he never smoked, I never would've started. Do you really want your kids to smoke? There is nothing good about it, and it costs a small fortune. The first two weeks are the worst, then it's easy. Just don't cheat, not even once. Good luck!
What an amazing job professor my God you gotta be a professor to put these things together today. Outstanding job my friend. Enjoyed the video. Look forward to the next one.
Oh wow! These sure are a long way from the good Ole 4 row planters. I remember when they were the best ya ever needed. Looks good, thanks for sharing Andy.
My memory of my dad's first planter was a two row with trip wire. Later, in the early 1960s I worked at John Deere Planter Works in Moline where they were making mostly four row planters. I couldn't believe how complex they were!! Wow, looking at your planter makes me wonder, why.
The reason they gave you a long wire for each motor is to reduce the voltage drop from the switch. The more current you pull through each wire, the higher the voltage drop will be. The voltage drop across the wire = the current through the wire * resistance of the wire ( V=I*R ). The alternative would be to have one heavier gauge wire. Since the Y-pig tail is short, there will be little voltage drop (i.e. shorter wire equals lower resistance). Hope that explains why they want the pig tail in the tractor.
Fascinating upgrades to a new machine, Andy! After scrolling through the replies, I get what you mean by the "keyboard experts". 🙄 Great video and good luck with getting going in the fields!
Andy, if you’re tanks have separate valves for suction and filling, (not sure but looks like it might) you could use two check valves on the suction side, that feeds the pumps. one on each tank and turn off the filling valves and that would stop tanks from transferring on a hill and still allow filling Through fill line. Planter looks great I am anxious to see how it works for you.
Regarding one wire for each motor, keeps the current thru the wire (and associated voltage drop) lower which keeps each motor happy. I have damaged motors due to excessive voltage drop. If they had made the wire gage bigger, one wire could have handled the current from both motors, but they chose two smaller wires. As you say, it is what it is. 💡⚡
Andy, I believe you can get one way valves. Won't need to shut one tank off. Just change out the valves on the tanks. Looking forward to seeing this planter in action. Great video as always, cheers :)
You should be able to a check valve and put in them tanks to keep it from transferring from one to another. They might even make an electronic valve that you could open and close from the cab. Then you wouldn’t have to get out to shut valves.
Hi Andy. I saw that video where the dude said you had quit smoking. An even bigger laugh was his estimated net worth. Dude obviously has no idea the capital it takes to be in farming. Great video. Hope your planting and hay silage season are going well.
Looks so clean and pretty, why would you want to take it out and get it dirty. How many batteries does it take? LOL. Hope it serves you well and brings many years of bountiful harvests.
We've run the flow indicators for years down south. I've never seen anyone run two balls. We ran one ball based on the viscosity and weight of the material being applied.
With each pump having its own wire on the planter a second cab control would allow you to run the two pumps and be able to match the pressures side to side
Andy. Great video Would it be possible to add the date to the start or finish of your video To tell us when it was recorded As we look at your videos thinking it has been recorded within the past few days But sure it could be 3 weeks ago And why are you so late starting sowing
I’m going to parade my farming ignorance and say that IMO this planter is too complicated to be dragged around a field. This complexity must affect reliability and time spent fixing stuff. I wonder what your father thinks about his youngsters drive for over complicating the farm kit.
youll never convince me that over priced ,over complicated planter is needed to plant a seed in the ground.. i guess this is how farmers show off to others how much money they have .. im impressed....NOT!!
You can use whatever you want to plant your crops with. The new planters are more precise and faster than the antique "trip wire, hill" models, and can place seed more evenly, and apply starter fertilizer more accurately. This new one should allow him to get the seed in the ground in a timely manner, to maximize yield.
Well no wonder you think the way you do…..a bag of seed that I’m planting is worth more than the planter you are talking about….a bag of the seed that I use only seeds 2.5 acres. You can use what you want and I’ll use what I want

Hi Andy !
Good job on the planter , very well done .
Thanks Andy for your time and everybody have a good day at the farm ! 🙋♂️
LOL..The smoking bit is funny. The planter is sure high tech but sure it will pay great dividends. Great video.
Never seen Andy smoking on all the previous videos.
You go back about 3 years he uses to smoke and Jerry did
Cripes that corn planter is more complicated than the Appollo spacecraft.
Fatming an't easy despite what some folk say.
What an amazing job professor my God you gotta be a professor to put these things together today. Outstanding job my friend. Enjoyed the video. Look forward to the next one.
You reminded me of my grandfather working in the shop on the old 7000

Your years of experience pays Andy Another good video 🚜🐄🇺🇲👍
.......but I didn't inhale 😂. Thanks for sharing Andy, stay well be safe.
Andy the John Deere and the tank manufacturer should be paying you to write the instruction manual for this planter installation 👍🚜
Nice when it's new start chasing wires and sensors 5 years down the road won be fun !
Man you got a lot on your back Andy, take it easy.
Enjoyed your video Andy have a great day.
It took me three watches to get through all this video. Great job. I guess the increase yields force to move this type of equipment

Smart guy!👍🏻
Andy the manual to operate this planter must be similar to the manual for the space shuttle!!
I was thinking those exact thoughts. HAHAHAHAHAHA.
Fascinating upgrades to a new machine, Andy! After scrolling through the replies, I get what you mean by the "keyboard experts". 🙄 Great video and good luck with getting going in the fields!
Great job on the planter
Good luck with corn planting this year🚜🌽🌽🌽🌽👍
I like my liquid filled gauges, it keeps the needle smooth instead of vibrating a lot. Nice build. I do like the pumps on each side idea.
19:05 i thought that was smoke coming from your brain from thinking a perfect plan so much!
I didn't realize that IKEA sold corn planters.

Sort of like working with Christmas tree lights 😂!

By his standards I’m rich
@@FarmingFixingFabricating you ever try those nicotine pouches? Like the Zyn ones? Pretty good, but a bit pricey. Rouqe is a good brand too.
Thanks Andy very interesting video

I guess you missed my explanation

Yes
I ENJOYED WATCHING THE VIDEO ANDY 😊
Your wiring may have been done so you could add a half width disconnect up in the cab.
You're just getting started and here in Ks it's getting to late to plant corn
Nice!
Thanks Andy.
I hope You didn't harm them thar pumps running them Dry ?
Mike M...
Andy. Great video
Would it be possible to add the date to the start or finish of your video
To tell us when it was recorded
As we look at your videos thinking it has been recorded within the past few days
But sure it could be 3 weeks ago
And why are you so late starting sowing
Looks like John Deere has turned into a software company. If the computers and the GPS systems quit working we’ll all starve!
Liking this video mucho😄
Great job on the planter! If you never started smoking then why is a cigarette hanging out of your mouth lol.
👍
You mentioned air pressure in the tires several times. Just curious how much pressure you run and do you run what the manufactures spec.
Thanks Andy
70 psi by the book
A long way from walking the field with a fiddle seeder.
Hello!
Not another sound in the shop. Did you wake up at 2 am thinking about that tractor and just went and did it?
Seeding is sure getting complicated.
Kiss went out with maxemerge 4 row
Hi Andy,
Please name this planter a John Deere 2024 Guido Deluxe Planter.
😢 struggle bus
I think you're already planted corn
question: didn't the planter come with a fertilizer system on it? why did you have to add this one?
This is for Pop Up in furrow
@@FarmingFixingFabricating thanks
I don´t get it. Do inject the fertilizer directly on the seed? Isn´t it a bit dangerous.
Start smoking just to piss’m off! 😂
You better patent your improvements so John Deere can"t copy you.
Is that the 320 or 360 tractor? Which tractor is pulling the other planter?
8220
Yes Andy
that of quitting smoking
get over the backbone you have
but I thought you had stopped
I don’t smoke
switched from the black and milds to marlboros now or what??
Andy!!!! Are you smoking now!?!?!
Give up those lung darts !
Andy I thought you quit smoking?

Sorry for my bad English Du you...
👍🐂💩🚜
Andy, you look like you need a cigarette!
Sick, this is the first time I've seen you "Do Drugs" on screen! Hope the kids don't see you
