    Thank you, this was the easiest tomato sauce recipe I've seen! I grew both tomatoes and basil in my garden and they are organic. I've searched TH-cam for tomato sauce recipes and yours seems best. As far as "canning" I would probably just freeze some sauce in plastic containers. Thank you again.

      Watching an Italian make a tomato sauce uses simple & few ingredients. It’s the way we all do it. Others tend to complicate things. However, if you are making a meat sauce with whole pieces of meat (not ground), it cAn be more a little more work &!a few hours of stewing 😊

    I bought a box of “seconds” at the farm stand and went into full consumption mode trying to use all the bruised and blemished tomatoes I bought. This was one of the recipes I made with these “ugly” tomatoes (along with salsa and Bloody Mary mix.) What a great recipe to use up a big batch of tomatoes that otherwise might just end up in compost! So good! The only change I made was to saute an onion with the garlic (again, consumption - wanted to use up the onion.) Soooo good!

    I've never had success making tomato sauce, so I decided to find out how the Italians do it! Oh my goodness, this is SO delicious!! And so simple. Thank you so much for sharing your recipe with us, now I can use all our garden tomatoes to make batches for the freezer. 👍 Love from Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 ❤️ xxx

    I love making tomato sauce at home from tomatoes and basil that I have grown myself in my garden. Garlic! I took the liberty of adding garlic as I do with pretty much every Italian dish.

    Thanks for the well made video. I've made sauce a few times but the 2 things you did, made it even easier!! I used to boil water and put the slices on the tomatoes and put them in and have some ice water to stop them from cooking. YOU took these 2 steps away. I have a kettle and I'm gonna use that instead and slice after !! Such a timesaver! Good timing cause I have 7 tomato plants about to burst with tomatoes! I'm gonna subscribe to your channel and see what other tips you have! Again Thanks!

    Thank you so much for this simple recipe! 🙂🧡 I really really suck at cooking, even if I follow a recipe, my food always turns out weird. But, this recipe did just the trick! I added garlic to the sauce and I simmered it about 10 minutes longer than you recommended because it was too watery at first. Great end result with fresh mozzarella.

    • @GiuliaArdizzone
      @GiuliaArdizzone  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome, I am glad to hear that. Yes, the cooking time may vary based on how watery the tomatoes you use are. 😉👌

    Nice recipe. We do something slightly different: Using plum or Roma tomatoes we grow, we stem and cut them in half, simmer the pieces in a stock pot for a bit, to soften-- no water added, just low/medium heat. Then we run the softened tomatoes through a food mill to remove seeds and skins. Put back into stock pot and reduce to desired thickness. Toss in some basil stems/leaves to flavour, then salt and sugar once at desired thickness. Remove basil, cool and put into plastic deli containers for the freezer.
    It's passata at this point, not quite ready for pasta. But, you can add the onion, maybe garlic and pepper during the cooking process, or later as we do.
