Sadly it's a noisy world we live in. My last camping trip was so noisy it gave me a new found love and appreciation for double glazing!

Greetings from Oregon! I always scout the areas I camp to avoid road access incursions. I also bring a few pairs of ear plugs along to block wind and rain noise for good in-tent and citronella oil for bugs. I also cut 6mil plastic sheeting 2" back from the tent edge for a ground cloth. Be safe. Cheers!

if you find a spot that other people have been there, don't stay in case they turn up when you are there look for some where else.

should never wild camp where there is evidence that someone else has been there,they could return.find your own tucked away spot

What a shame ... and you were doing so well. Excellent choice of author, by the way; I'm just about to start on his autobiography ,-)
Little tip: your windbreak/heat reflector problem - I usually bring a trowel and dig a small hole down to the depth of the trowel and ram the uprights down into those (I DO chop the tips down to something approximating a point first).

Yeah, it is sad. The recording doesn't quite pick up well but the music was sooo loud so I had to leave. Littering really upsets me too :( I could rant about it forever!

Shame about the music.. Be careful in wooded areas, a lot of deer ticks about in that bracken type environment, always check your legs for ticks after camping.

Bad advice, Ken, always keep your wits about you in the wild, especially if you're a young lady who's alone in the wild. It's the world we live in now, I'm sorry to say.
@@wolfenstein6676 As someone with acute hearing I have never even with shooting headsets ever not been able to hear with earplugs. Now music or something else in headsets or earphones will blind you to your surroundings. I had a few years of military experience with this also. Your mileage may vary but you need to try what works for you.

It is better for you to go with someone; being a female and a solo camper isn't a safe or wise thing to do.

I have the same issue lol.
As soon as you see this 2:15 you don't camp there, just move on. You asked the question "Why?" 2:30 it's because you've stumbled across the local "Let's get drunk in the woods!" location, never camp anywhere near there because they'll be back before you know it. :) .
