I saw her at Covent Garden in (I think) 1976 in I Lombardi. I have never forgotten it. Renata Scotto's death today made me think of her, since she was also a great Lady Macbeth. It's a shame there are so few recordings of her.

Sylvia m'avait éblouie dans sa Traviata d'Aix en Provence en 1976, hélas sa carrière comme celle de son illustre ainée aura été courte, mais nous avons le bonheur de la retrouver au disque, parfois sur une radio classique et sur ce site. J'ai lu qu'elle donne des cours, elle partage son expérience et transmet son art!
That is correct, she is giving master classes in Pezenas (South of France) where she resides. I had the honour to visit one of these master class sessions in 2009.

She role was really too heavy for her, but here she is really great. And it's a great plus that she is so beautiful, as I have always felt that Lady Macbeth must have been incredibly beautiful and sensuous in order to have such a great hold on her husband.

Judging a specific person consecutively and in order to prove that they are not capable of understanding and thus undertaking specific roles is another... doing it in a polite manner is also something that we must always remind ourselves of. So excuse me (lol) for feel disapproving of this current tendency to go sparing criticism about Netrebko. If you don’t like her is ok! But here is a video from Sass. So try to enjoy her interpretation and leave Netrebko on her own.

Mi dispiace davvero ma l’intonazione giusta dipende della preparazione tecnica e l’educazione. Vocalità poco sicura, instabile . Non voglio entrare nei dettagli tecnici, è tardi come disse la Violetta … il vecchio PS I grandi sul palco non “lavoravano” mai combattendo con l’intonazione giusta,loro interpretavano con una vocalità pura accompagnata di una intonazione perfetta .
