From what i know, the character was unlockable in the shop that was in veluna hills.

Oh, my bad. I played regular 64 after the copyright update so i dont know how the yoshi was obtained, but thanks for the information about it Nojo!

And i saw the yoshi in the shop from a discord server in the announcement thinking it would yoshi be on the list so yea i always thinked about some stuff like, what would that bob omb (chipper) from the cookie fortress would give me a star for beating the boss in the tower. But it was a new character.
