The way i interpret the Joyboy prophecy is that there isn't a chosen one, but a chosen many born every generation. Noland, Caligara, Roger, Ace, Luffy and Usopp are all potential Joyboys. The reason Luffy is able to bring the Dawn is because he was lucky enough to have everything happen all at once. Maybe there were other Joyboys that made it to Laughtale like Rogee but had no way get the message out like Roger or there wasnt a Posideon born at the time. To me, Noland is like Ace in that he was talen out before he could reach his true potential.
Luffy is that chosen one. he is joyboys reincarnation/will. The average guy you want to see who worked his ass to laugh tale was roger, not luffy. Fate is a major factor in one piece.
Pard Luffy is the chosen one by his own choices. He chose to eat the fruit, and while he inherited Roger's will but not from being exposed to Roger and his ilk but by his own life experiences before he met Shanks. There is fate, and I'm not doubting that, but Luffy could have chosen not to follow the Joyboy path, as Oda has shown there are bad ends. Luffy became Joyboy by his own choices that allowed him to acquire more Joyboy qualities so he can bring the Dawn and fulfill the prophecy.
@@NicSantiagoG Nobody else could have eaten that fruit though. The story makes it clear that the Nika fruit avoids people. It hadn't been eaten in over 800 years, making it clear that even before Shanks took it nobody was able to actually consume it for whatever reason. Also I agreed with the point of people inheriting that Will such as Roger, but stating Usopp is joyboy is the dumbest thing I've heard. I think Roger was definitely an inheritor just born in the wrong time. Ace, however, was not and Usopp definitely isn't. Remember, Joyboy/Nika is essentially freedom incarnate, a man of freedom would not be a subordinate. Roger wasn't, Joyboy 99.99% was leader and Luffy is Captain. Even when Ace told Luffy to join him he refused. Ace and Usopp became subordinates, which disqualifies them immediately from being the personification of freedom. Luffy didn't "become" Joyboy, he simply was by his nature. Hence Toki saying that the dawn would come in 20 years because he would be born. Also Shirahoshi was no doubt born at the same time as Luffy for a reason, as the oracle predicted his coming along with hers. He's essentially the chosen one, regardless of the path he chose in life he would do whatever he wanted specifically which is the essence of being Joyboy. I think the will passed through generations, and Roger carried it to pave the way for Luffy's path but Luffy was ultimately the true reincarnation of Nika. Usopp is a coward, even if he becomes a brave warrior in the end he is too cowardly to ever be a Joyboy candidate in the slightest. Example being how he was tempted to deny Luffy being Pirate King when he was being threatened by the dino girl in Wano. No matter how close he is to death, Luffy would never deny such a thing and would smile in the face of death.
Do you think one part of why he didn’t smile was because he saw that he almost lead the government to the island? After getting betrayed, he could’ve reflected on how bad the gov was.
Yes for sure, he may have began realizing his government was F’ed up for A) not letting him take his crew and then B) using a fake crew member to lie to everyone
@@DaksSake It would've been so cool if he'd still laughed in relief and irony of the realization that he almost betrayed the shandians by sending his kingdom there.
I see it as almost a phenomenon how you can come to the opposite conclusion as Parvision with the government not being the ones who sabotaged Noland, but you actually came to roughly the same conclusion as hidden in his devil fruits theory about music connection to the soul. Par’s always talking about the likelihood that and idea is true being higher when two people come to the same conclusion through different lenses but it’s actually the opposite in this case where you used the same evidence or “lens” to come to opposing conclusions. In that case does it strengthen the lens/evidence being used. I guess that means we are looking in the right places and Hidden was onto something when he said we should look in the pre-timeskip for answers as Oda had originally planned for the series to last 5 years before it expanded making arcs like Skypeia and Alabasta infinitely more important for the answers yet to come. Awesome video Dak, Nolan D. GOAT!
It's so crazy because I watched Par's video and was 100% sold on what he said, and then I kept thinking about it, we got a few chapters about the void century and stuff (especially the giant) and then it hit me like... the government isnt the only one pulling strings Love how you married all 3 of our ideas though, its true that when you keep hovering around the same points/ideas, there has to be something important going on, even if our conclusions are different. The most important conclusion tho, like you said, is NOLAN D GOAT!
I think this was a really cool analysis of Noland and the Jaya flashback. Love videos like this digging into meaning behind Oda's writing like you did here.
Nerona also sounds a lot like Verona, the city where Rome and Juliet took place. Looking at the official translation imu says “ I desire” could oda be cooking a twisted version of the Shakespeare classic? In the original one they both die but in the OP twist one gets to live forever.. the crazy thing would be if lili had law fruit and she was the one giving the surgery.. also would make sense for her to have a powerful DF that could have helped moving the poneglyps
@@jayronbamba1482 I did copy this comment form a comment I made, I have this theory I just want a major TH-cam to pick it up, I’ve commented this in few videos
Skypeia keeps on giving long after its time. What I've really been wondering about though is why Imu specifically hates Blackbeard on the same level she hates Luffy, Vivi and Shirayoshi. We know why she hates the other 3, but we have no clue yet as to why Blackbeard was among the posters and why his was defiled and cut up like Luffy's. Luffy is Joyboy, Shirayoshi is Poseidon, Vivi is the descendant of the D who spread the ponyglyphs around the world. Blackbeard though? What ties him back to the Void century like the other 3? Is it just because of Rocks? Then the question is what ties Rocks back to the Void century? Blackbeard was singled out by Imu to be among these figures that all tie back to the Void century in some way but we haven't got a clue what exactly it is that puts him there.
The skypeians didn't know where the bell was when Roger was visiting, and they still didn't know where it was after Roger found it when Luffy visted. If Roger was friends with the skypeians, then the bell's location being a mystery would be a plot hole. Its more likely that Roger arrived and saw the conflict between the Shandians and the sky people and snuck past to find the tressure himself before getting out of there before anyone noticed.
noland is the definition of PK, finding the OP is nice but bro literally was everywhere like it is his own house. feels like his story wasn't shared with us 100%. can not wait for his story be relevant again.
There's one simple reason that Noland didn't die with a smile on his face the way the others you named did. That is a trait specifically belonging to the D tribe, of which Noland was not a part.
@@brendav4695 I've been theorizing for a while that Teach isn't a true D. I have a feeling he learned about the D Clan and their significance and added the D to his own name in order to puff up his sense of importance.
@@AnimeOtakuDrew why would black beard want to draw attention his self? His whole plan was to stay off the radar of the word government. If anyone actually knew what the D. means then I’m pretty sure they would definitely hide it. Imu also stated verbatim that the people who have the name D don’t even know what it means anymore. So even if he did know he wouldn’t advertise it. That defeats the purpose of laying low.
One Peice has introduced us to the idea of creatures souls going somewhere after their death. 1. Millennium Dragons (Grandpa Ryu) they were migratory dragons whose resting place was The warship island / the lost island once a while when water went down. 2. Yagara bulls of water 7 (Aobire / grandpa Blue fin) they have a legend of going to Tsui village after their death which is also somewhere underwater. I get it that these are filler episodes but I mean idea intro can be anywhere.
i was a bit pissed off about Noland being this preposterous about "god beliefs" . i can't thank you enough to show me how more subtle it is with both sides having rights and wrongs .after seeing this video One Piece feels better than ever . thank you , you've done a terrific job .
Tinfoil hat idea, but it is awfully suspicious that this random isolationist island in the grand line got hit with an infectious disease that Noland was familiar with. With how strong Kalgara was, it wouldn't be a bad idea for the WG to choose to wipe the island with a plague, instead of an invasion. I mean Noland didn't act as if the disease was rare, so collecting samples of diseased trees to use in this operation would be easy. And there are plenty of real-world parallels to the idea of using plagues to wipe out native peoples.
tree desease are most likely based on malaria which are prevalent to such isolated like that. noland know about the desease because his home country have the same desease as the island
@@raisofahri5797 Yeah but the one piece world is all islands, how did that disease reach Jaya? It's not endemic to the island, they acted as if they'd never seen it before.
Noland and Kalgara really hit home for me on a personal level. I'm a firm believer in scientific progress, and as an atheist I can see how people who cling to their religion can slow, halt, or even regress progress for what I find to be foolish reasons. Seeing Noland and Kalgara respecting one another, and both learning from the other's cultures to progress *together* is so god damn inspiring, and eventually tragic as hell. Every time I read, or watch, or anything this backstory I tear up so hard, because it's themes are just so wonderfully executed by Oda, paired with the rest of the Saga's stakes and all. People may say Skypiea's boring on the first go, but I still love the arc for the thematic elements that are present, both in the moment and in hindsight.
Wow you unpacked sooo much in this video! The ancient records must be like the guidelines for the Ancient kingdom tech and that’s why Oden and Roger understood more about time because they too were aware of the timing of everything. Wow I even think IMU is related to Noland and the shandians
@@coolissa1 always found the middle section forgettable and boring. Oda never made me care about the citizens of Skypiea. Enel was never fleshed out and we don't have any reasons for his motivations or actions. A lot of the arc honestly felt like filler and it has some of the worst fights in fiction. A sky Island was such a great concept, but the execution fell flat.
Great video Daks. I love videos that show me something I haven’t thought of before or make connections that I haven’t already made. I hadn’t thought about how recent events could recontextualize the knock up stream event.
The golden bell being above a ponyglyph is probably a big deal. I believe that the "spirits of the ancestors" the Shandians are ringing the bell for are those that inherited the metaphorical spirit of the Will of D. If the ancient Shandians agreed to guard the ponglyph with their lives it's very likely that they were close to the D clan (and Lili) or even had a few members in their tribe. Calgara and Viper likely unknowingly are/were carries of the D.
I have watched skypea arc over 13 years ago, at that time I didn't think that Noland story could be so deep. Thanks to your insight it hit me harder than ever before and I'm considering rewatching and rereading One Piece as I slowly am starting to understand that previous arcs become even better over time thanks to Oda's godly writing and foreshadowing as we know more about One Piece. Cheers to you mate and Gigachad-land I hope he got his closure thanks to Luffy as you mentioned it in the vid.
You know, Robin points out that when camping in the wild, fire and other lightsourses should be kept at minimum. But Luffy and the gang do the exact opposite, by having the biggest, loudest, flashiest campfire-party ever held. As if shouting to everyone "We are here!" Just like Shandians ringing the bell. To ignite the Flame of Shandra. To tell everyone, living or dead "We are here!".
Skypiea has always been underrated for some reason, but it's always been one of my favorites from the scenery, to the unique fights, and Enel just overall being a great villain. How people could be that divided over an arc about a sky island and basically El Dorado is beyond me.
Thinking about Oden and Noland reminds me of Fisher Tiger. I'd even say he was a more tragic case. He witnessed the worst in Marie Jois, he freed everyone and in a dilemna with himself. It somehow reminds me of Nika as well. No wonder whoswho asked Jinbe about him. I think that racism towards fish men has begun accidentally. And it was Joy Boy who apologised. Its also interesting that Jaya was sent upwards and that maybe Fish Man Island was sent downwards. As if someone was behind it. Lets say the king actually found Jaya, he would have declared war and killed everyone. A poneglyph would have been in the hands of the world government. The worst possible out come. Imagine the guit noland must have felt if that had happen. I mean look. The road poneglyph is safe under water. Just as the road poneglyph in wano was or zou. Places isolated from the world. Even before shandora got shot up to the sky it was an isolated place, yet it attracted people towards it location the sea kings were heard by roger and oden, road poneglyph there zounisha was heard by luffy and momo, road poneglyph there the bell was heard, poneglyph there I wonder where big mom got hers
these days , people have theories about the world beeing under water. thats why castles were all build on the highest spot. cause royal families knew it could happen. I just realized Nolands name could be a forshadowing of that. No- Land
I thought of, and watched that Parvision video, about the possibility of outside interference but I do prefer your take. At this point, Oda can do anything, with how advanced they were, but I come to the same goofy conclusion when I think about them; that somehow the Ancient Kingdom studied or mastered 'fate'. Maybe the relocation of the island was activated the moment Noland set foot on it, because it was too early for anyone to have landed there. So, with an almost Luck-Luck type power or the best available method, 'fate' used the Knock Up Stream to get it out of there before Imu discovered what year Poseidon would reincarnate and quickly reorganized the equation so Luffy would still get there someday.
Gaia has one of my favorite moments in the entire story Everyone gives it credit now for obvious reasons, but the ship falling from the Sky is still conceptually peak One Piece. When I first saw that I got excited as all hell. I still remember my younger self saying "wait, we're actually doing this?!" Then we went into a couple existential stories that deal with the effects of different perspectives and some commentary on religion which is my favorite way to frame a story. Well done love all of your work!
Even if the rest of Jaya wasn't launched by Knock Up Stream, Noland's blunder would've been beyond catastrophic. The Shandians would've been wiped out, and Shandora the City of Gold would've been destroyed and I think Noland would've turned pirate from it all. So I guess in a way, that Jaya end up in the sky is very much a blessing. Although I would be surprised if the knock up stream was a world government creation.
I think the whole 5 year thing with Nolan might just take inspiration for how difficult it was to obtain sponsorship from royalty for voyages in real life. Christopher Columbus in particular tried to get funding from several countries and was turned down by England, France and Portugal before Spain finally gave him the money to do it. That's just my guess, Oda likes to throw real-world references into these things.
Absolutely fantastic video KING, we appreciate the hard work 😤 also that was a clever ad plug lol 😭 also also thanks for always saying wassup when we cross paths in stream 🤓💯

8:01 that ships symbol being destroyed by Kalgara resembels the world goverment cross too much ... . Kalgara was my favorite charaxter with Wiper "for our ancestors", rainny day.
Thank God i FINALLY found, after a decade being a one piece fan, someone that see Noland as the luffy/Roger/JoyBoy from 400 years ago. He is so underrated almost invisible in people's mind
Roger likely didnt need the shandians trust or even permission to see the bell or inscribe the message on the belfry. If you remember, the belfry was lost on top of giant jack until luffy got there. none of the shandians knew it was there. roger probably found it and told no one. there was likely no one up there on top of giant jack other than roger and his crew.
I believe joyboy was originally meant to reincarnate into noland but was unable to for whatever reason and thus waited another 400 years and if you think about it there would’ve been another Poseidon in the ryugu kingdom during his time as well
Joyboy dont reincarnate. His spirit is not literaly inside Luffy now. What happens is that some people inherit the will of someone that have died. In this case, Luffy is the closest to Joy Boy since Roger died, not only that, but Luffy has the Nika fruit that Roger did not have, so this is why Luffy is "JoyBoy", not because he have his literal spirit, but because just like Joyboy, Luffy will bring freedom to the slaves, but while Joyboy failed, Luffy will suceed. Noland, as cool as he was, was not a pirate, but a sailor who played by the rules of the goverment. So he could not fully inherit the will of Joyboy. This has nothing to do with literal reincarnation.
Yoi! This video is amazing Dak’s, noland the greatest adventurer within the story of one piece. I wonder if these islands that have to do with adventuring will reveal more to us about noland. Like how Roger left his mark on a ponegliph with the help of oden, perhaps there will be something of noland’s left, like his true story for the people to know that he wasn’t a liar.
Just started listening. Noland’s is one of my favorite backstories. I’ll never understand those who disregard Skypeia as a whole. It always felt like it was one of the most important parts to early OP along with Alabasta.
I've read somewhere that that Huge Knockup Stream was probably the result of the making of Enies Lobby, one sucks water, one sprout them out, probably connected by an underground channel as in the illustration
perhaps Nolans science over faith and evolution of humanity aproach shows how the world government began, people who wanted to abandon the gods, who to them only held them back, to advance humanity... but in the process, became cruel and controlling. Maybe at some point, they did believe in the vacant throne, but after some event, they decided that Imu should become the "new god"

The fruit hadn't been awakened in 800 years. It was never stated that it hadn't been eaten; only that it had evaded the WG.
@@cjamesfortexactly, the other bro watched two piece
Nolan has always been one of my characters from the past era. His and clgara’s story always gets me😢
You're delusional if you truly believe Noland couldnt defeat you in War Thunder...
Dak casually dropping the “the ancient kingdom is manipulating fate in their favor far into the future” in the Noland video 😭
@@DaksSake It would've been so cool if he'd still laughed in relief and irony of the realization that he almost betrayed the shandians by sending his kingdom there.
noland and oden are definitely my favorite characters. thanks for this video bro
TWO OF THE LITERAL GOATS! Thanks for watching fam!
GOAT!
It's so crazy because I watched Par's video and was 100% sold on what he said, and then I kept thinking about it, we got a few chapters about the void century and stuff (especially the giant) and then it hit me like... the government isnt the only one pulling strings
Love how you married all 3 of our ideas though, its true that when you keep hovering around the same points/ideas, there has to be something important going on, even if our conclusions are different.
The most important conclusion tho, like you said, is NOLAN D GOAT!
Another god maybe the moon god the moon has 3 phases/faces in myths..
I think this was a really cool analysis of Noland and the Jaya flashback. Love videos like this digging into meaning behind Oda's writing like you did here.
me too
Nerona also sounds a lot like Verona, the city where Rome and Juliet took place.
I have read the very same comment somewhere else...😂
did you copy this comment
Possibly because the Dark Dark fruit made Blackbeard the living personification of Void ?
I like Noland’s hair being the tip of Nika’s spear. He was literally the tip of the spear. Noland, then Roger, and finally Luffy
Only backstory I dropped a tear for
The skypeians didn't know where the bell was when Roger was visiting, and they still didn't know where it was after Roger found it when Luffy visted.

:D
But teach is a D and he was scared af when he tought whitebeard could kill him, ofcs we hace been told he is the exception
Noland wanted Gold
Roger wanted Freeland
These videos are golden bro
Nah he was righteously on the fence with it. He was right the entire time.
Love the Usopp and Noland parallels. I'd forgotten so much of this! Great vid Dak!

Man love we’re looking at Nolan more, he’s gotta have a huge part to play in the grand story, surely
Great video! I might not be a fan of the Skypiea arc, but Noland was still a great character
-Preach
I am a big fan of you man
@@zoro_lost69 Love to see it! Thank you
why dont u like skypiea
@@coolissa1 always found the middle section forgettable and boring. Oda never made me care about the citizens of Skypiea. Enel was never fleshed out and we don't have any reasons for his motivations or actions. A lot of the arc honestly felt like filler and it has some of the worst fights in fiction. A sky Island was such a great concept, but the execution fell flat.
Also I don't like how Luffy was stuck in a snake for so long and the entire crew was split up for most of the arc
Great video Daks. I love videos that show me something I haven’t thought of before or make connections that I haven’t already made. I hadn’t thought about how recent events could recontextualize the knock up stream event.

“Roger had to be friends with the skypians” i mean, gonfall literally said he had a pirate friend from the blue sea twenty years ago
I just randomly stumbled upon this video. It is just so beautifully said. I can’t believe how much of a genius Oda is
"No bitches, Noland?"
As if shouting to everyone
"We are here!"
Just like Shandians ringing the bell. To ignite the Flame of Shandra. To tell everyone, living or dead "We are here!".
6:23 oh hell nah, Noland would easily solo you 💀
Bruh I never realized his name was “No land”
Skypiea has always been underrated for some reason, but it's always been one of my favorites from the scenery, to the unique fights, and Enel just overall being a great villain. How people could be that divided over an arc about a sky island and basically El Dorado is beyond me.
Not only was that noland’s hair on joyboy’s spear but it was also on the pillars of the golden bell
Don’t sleep on the chestnut….
This was the only arc that made me cry because of the snake bashing it’s head against the beanstalk
The Bell also had Gol D Rogers mustache. Never noticed all these details before :D great vid!

Even before shandora got shot up to the sky it was an isolated place, yet it attracted people towards it location
the sea kings were heard by roger and oden, road poneglyph there
zounisha was heard by luffy and momo, road poneglyph there
the bell was heard, poneglyph there
I wonder where big mom got hers

When you put it that way, it’s almost like Imu saw Skypeia and yeeted it into the sky.
these days , people have theories about the world beeing under water. thats why castles were all build on the highest spot. cause royal families knew it could happen. I just realized Nolands name could be a forshadowing of that. No- Land
Nolan D. Montblanc also bears the cross shaped scar 8:48
Gaia has one of my favorite moments in the entire story
Everyone gives it credit now for obvious reasons, but the ship falling from the Sky is still conceptually peak One Piece.
When I first saw that I got excited as all hell.
I still remember my younger self saying "wait, we're actually doing this?!"
Then we went into a couple existential stories that deal with the effects of different perspectives and some commentary on religion which is my favorite way to frame a story.
Such a good video. Thanks for making it.
Thank you for watching it🔥

The Noland Video is finally Here!
Only took 6 months!

I also think Noland could hear Voice of all things

Your voice is always so nice to listen to Daks:)
Noland and kalgara’s tragedy will always be my favorite flashback
Your channel is still so underrated, you really deserve more of an audience. love the content so much man keep it up

It is a great day, when Dak posts a new video.
I'm happy when Nami told Zoro a story about Noland in Live Action. It will be a strong foreshadowing in Live Action.
Looking at Noland’s final expression, it’s like his worry is forcing himself from smiling in his final moments like other D’s.
What the name of the intro tune that is played in the background
perhaps Nolans science over faith and evolution of humanity aproach shows how the world government began, people who wanted to abandon the gods, who to them only held them back, to advance humanity... but in the process, became cruel and controlling.
Maybe at some point, they did believe in the vacant throne, but after some event, they decided that Imu should become the "new god"
