Still remember being at Old Trafford the night when he single handedly ruined United’s chances of a comeback in the CL QF. When he went off the entire stadium including the United supporters gave him a standing ovation after witnessing one of the greatest single game performances from any player of all time. It was spine chilling and beautiful to witness both sets of supporters coming together to appreciate a true genius of the game.

The only footballer that i cut a black and white photo of from a newspaper I stuck some card to the back of it to give it some rigidity, it was probably like 12’ by 4 inches (h/w), crazy thing is, I was either in my late teens or early twenties at the time and I’m 51 almost 52 now, still one of my all time greats! Ele jogou numa época em que não teve You Tube pra se inspirar em nenhum outro jogador, não existia falta e muito menos cartão no jogo, apanhava mais que um condenado, jogava com chuteira com sola rígida parecendo uma pedra, chutava uma bola de capotão lascado que parecia um coco com navalha afiada, não existia medicina e ciência esportiva com 10% do nível que existe hj (spray pra dor, cirurgia e recuperação de tendão - isso já era o fim da carreira do atleta) e mesmo assim INVENTOU 99% das jogadas, movimentos e dribles que existem hj e que até o próprio R9 fazia. I know that Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi are now bigger than him in terms of size in the sport, but talking about quality, I really don't believe that either of them have surpassed Ronaldo in his best version. Many may say that Messi is >BETTER< than Ronaldo (R9) mainly because of his longevity, but I'll say it again: player for player, it's difficult for anyone to beat Ronaldo.

Am glad people appreciate him more nowdays. He was predicted not to last long with his intensive level of movement and speed. The short time he lasted, he was more like an artist. What he does in every match, Messi or Ronaldo does it maybe once or twice . His insane run with the ball from the midfield is what made him phenomenal. Messi did it maybe 5 times in his career. But Ronaldo in his Prime attempts it every match.
Not to mention the fact people went out of their way to foul him on the pitch everytime he played...
