Thanks for the rundown! Sounds like a great addition and alleviates my worries that the new cycle would feel more like an anthology of stories than a time travel story
The book is out in German since December - AND I COMPLETELY MISSED IT!!! That wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't a goddamned certified bookseller!!! Well, now I now what I will order once I'm back to work on monday :-) Regarding the game: I will definitely get the Experience box, it sounds really cool. Reminds me a bit of the character build in Pandemic: Legacy. I wouldn't be surprised if they got their inspiration from that game. And why not - good ideas deserve to be copied.
Hi Rahdo, im a little confused on one of the rules for the game and from the video that you did im not entirely sure if im understanding it correctly. The rules state: Going from left to right, reveal the cards one by one until the Table is only made of faceup cards. Important: before revealing each card, the group may decide to spend as many Azrak as the number of faceup card(s) to: • Either draw a card from the Demand deck and place it facedown to the far right of the Table; • Or stow in the Demand deck any card from the Table except the one most recently revealed. Then, shuffle the deck. So if im understanding this correctly... Right at the begining there are no faceup cards. Hence I can keep putting more facedown cards at no cost. My first question is it only one card that I can put in this way or can i keep putting multiple cards at no cost. After I see the first One the cost shoots up to 1 Azarak if i wanted to reveal an additional card. But lets say there are already 3 faceup cards and I realise that I want another card - Now this cost of putting another card is 3 Azarak. Am i understanding this correctly or am i wrong?
The book is out in Germany and I got it for my birthday. Read it in one session. It fills some of the gaps and also explains (without spoiling too much) how stuff like the telepathy work and how the characters here met. And how all is tied to the white cycle.
Also don’t forget about www.thetimeagency.net which includes notes on the white cycles and archive information for the faction you sided with in lumen Fidei
Hey Rahdo, the book you mentioned is up for pre-order on amazon and comes out May 12th. It's called T.I.M.E Stories: The Heiden File, for those interested.
sorry it's been a long time since i played so i don't remember specifics. i'd suggest asking here: www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgameexpansion/284819/time-stories-revolution-experience/forums/0 you're sure to get an answer :)
one thing to bear in mind as an update since if filmed this: the time stories series releases have slown down quite a bit... a new one just came out after what was this? 3 years?
Did you ever end up going through more than the prototype for Tainted Grail? Since this is only dual handed solo capable, I wonder what you thought if that true solo experience. Or how that compared on the two player experience compared to this as a story driven narrative experience.
nope, they offered to send me a final copy of it, but i passed as i simply wouldn't have time to play TG (since i always have to move forward to cover the next game in the queue), plus TG was way too grim for my wife's tastes. it is disappointing for the new TS that they didn't do a tiny bit of extra work to make true solo viable... it could have been done i think, but it wasn't a priority i guess. still, i suppose solo players are well used to having to control multiple characters...
@@rahdo very true. Thanks for the response. Sorry TG ended up out of your wheelhouse. Definitely understand about time and commitments though. Glad to hear your thoughts.
to be honest, i have no idea because i haven't looked at what the effects of all the cards are, because i didn't want to spoil it. but my guess is no, the main thing is failing at the events would prevent you from being able to level up your characters higher, but since you don't *need* to level up your characters at all (each mission can be played as a standalone) that's not a game breaker. but like i said, i'm not 100% on that because i haven't peeked at what the 'really bad' events are...
yes, though you have to control 2 characters, so it's solo-able in the way that all games are co-ops are soloable. it's a shame, i'd with they'd done the extra work to make it truly soloable where you can do everything with just one character. it's basically a parallel to the original series, where they clearly through in 2p support as an afterthought that was less than ideal. they've done much better with 2p now, and done a "oh btw you can solo if you want". maybe by the 3rd series they'll have cracked the solo nut properly as well :)
Rahdo that’s the only reason I never played the first series. The solo looks very lackluster because the game was designed around multiplayer. And that’s ok too, not every game has to have a solo mode. I just really want to experience Time Stories but I don’t have anyone that wants to play it lol.
You *seem* to be saying that this is a module that ensures that people who find the game easy will see it get easier and easier over time-since they are routinely rewarded with new skills and abilities-while people who struggle have their game get harder as disadvantages accumulate in this mechanised meta. Doesn't that just make everyone miserable? A skilled GM will do the opposite-give the more challenging characters and situations to the mechanically stronger players. So I hope I have misunderstood!
you need to get those new skills because you're automatically earning new weaknesses as you go through more adventures (only if you get a perfect success on the event will you avoid that, and to do that, you likely have to burn a lot of your XP, which means you'll get less to spend on leveling yourself up)
at least, that's the way it works in theory. i can't confirm because i have only finished one adventure. and i do now have one weakness and 2 skills for my character, and the skills can only be used once each, and the weakness is... well, it's definitely something i'll have to deal with continually :) )

thanks for the heads up! :)
When finishing the Hadal Project what amount of Azrak is taken into “experience” the remainder in the vortex? Or unspent on the characters?

I was gonna pass on this until I heard you compare it to LOST. I friggin’ loved LOST. Gonna have to pick this up.

I've never played TIME stories. If I want to try it, now in 2021, which one should I play?
I've just bought this game and Experience...what about the skill setup if i'm playing solo?
if you're playing solo, you're really emulating a 2p game so you have to control 2 characters, so skills are setup as a 2p game
I think you need to discard Azrack equal to the Demand cards on the table.
timestamp please
Are we getting any review for the next expansion of Time Stories
if they publisher send me a review copy, then most definitley

Can your agency be destroyed or is it just like making things more difficult but it never gets fully destroyed?

Is Experience useable for Damien?
no i don't believe so, but i haven't played it so i'm not sure
Can you actually play this one solo?
yes, though you have to control 2 characters, so it's solo-able in the way that all games are co-ops are soloable. it's a shame, i'd with they'd done the extra work to make it truly soloable where you can do everything with just one character.

I found that the QR code only works on Mission 1, is that normal?
well there's only one mission so far (hadal project) though maybe i misunderstood?
