That smile on his coach face says it all. His Dirk has become on of the best players in the NBA and arguably one of the best PF of all time.

As a die-hard San Antonio fan, you can't help but respect and appreciate Dirk. Such class, such work-ethic, such determination. We will never see another player like Dirk and I for one, could not be happier to have seen him play from the beginning of his career. Dirk and Tim Duncan will go down as two of the best competitors of all-time.
At the 30 minute mark of this video seeing how swollen his feet are especially his left one and that pad on his knee... Dirk is a warrior and I couldn't have more respect for that man. The Loyalty he has shown the mavs and the city of dallas is unmatched. Not only is he the great European player to play in the nba he is one of the greatest all time players to play in this league PERIOD!!! Im proud to be a fan of Dirk Nowitzki

You know how tough it is being a mavs fan in san antonio? When everyone here worships tim duncan. I remember crying in 2003 when the spurs beat the mavs in the western conference finals because steve kerr had a hot hand. The heartbreaking finals in 06 and the warriors upsetting us after that. When they swept the Lakers in the 2011 playoffs I knew that it was going to happen. Best moment as a sports fan

25 minutes of Dirk's journey to the NBA. Then it skips from his 2nd season to the 2006 Finals. I would've like to see more highlights during that time period, with Steve Nash and show his first All Star Game etc. By 2006 he was a bonafide superstar, so the documentary skipped much of his progression as an individual player in the NBA.
2021 edit: Still a well produced documentary. Had to return to this enthralling video after seeing the San Antonio Spurs' tribute video for Dirk. Absolutely stunning!
I'm from Dallas, Texas; Dirk Nowitizki is the greatest Euro-power forward that has ever lived! He has innovated the power forward position; when have you ever heard the term "stretch 4" position? Never, until he mastered the perimeter and added an inside drive to the basket; he endured the bad times in Dallas the Mavericks' was such a terrible team in the 90's; his style of play has become today's standard for every NBA team, when teams look for a "stretch 4" player, the always compare the "stretch 4" to Nowitizki's skills; a true innovator for the future of the NBA. Dirk deserves all the MVP awards, all the scoring awards, all the praises & accolades that come with the "Superstardom" that comes with the fame; in the era of "bling-bling" players in the NBA; Dirk is the most humble, fan-friendly" players', ever. To Mr. Nowitizki he is the closet thing to the perfect professional athlete; and I for one will happy to see him in Springfield, Massachusetts being inducted to the "Basketball Hall of Fame" in the future; I will be the most of him to see him there; from Germany to Dallas to Springfield; promote the game, sir!!!

when they won the title, in that series against the Heat, he looked like the best player in the world, it was unbelievable how good he was. The Heat must have just been shell shocked they were so helpless to defend him
He shot 41% he didn't destroy the Heat. He played well.
allthatjeff True, it was really Jason Terry and DeSean Stevenson that both played way over their heads. Dirk is the all time adjusted +/- leader for a reason though, Miami really tilted the floor in his direction, and his teammates wound up with an abundance of wide-opens. Poor Chris Bosh, Dirk had him in detention.

By far the greatest player I've seen in my life. And I know Kobe, Tim Duncan, Shaquille etc were all great but his story is just amazing. I can relate to his struggle. Knowing one thing you're entire life then you go to a different country experience being an outkast because you can hardly relate to what's "in" at the time. He's a great role model for the sport. No drama, not in it for publicity just playing with passion. Always has been and always will be humble.Im glad he got his ring in one of the most memorable NBA Finals we've ever witnessed. Viva mi lindo Mexico y Viva su lindo Germany. One love to everyone

@kristaps bleive Remember everyone was released after that season though. The Mavericks couldn't afford to bring everyone back. Had the Mavs brought everyone back they would have won another championship the following year. I'm not a Mavs fan either.

One of my all-time favorite players. And he's got that Kareem thing going, too--he's got that unstoppable shot. As far as his generation is concerned I would rank him way ahead of Kobe and pretty even with Tim Duncan. That 2011 was legendary--and I'm a Heat fan. I'd love to see him get 30,000 points.

The Story at 2001 is told to fast. he also won bronze in world championship with gemran national team and silver in 2005 european championship. they should made a longer docu that shows better that Dirk is the best european Player and one of the best of all time.
I've been following and playing hoops a long time. Dirk is one of the all-time greats. Compared to his contemporaries--guys who who where entering the NBA in the late '90s he's right up there with Timmy D and WAY ahead of Kobe. His 2011 run was legendary. He won the championship but not only did he win the title he did so by basically ending Phil Jackson, Kobe Bryant AND the Lakers & helping elevate the great KD & LBJ by kicking their butts on the way to the throne. Easily one of the best playoff runs ever.

There is NO DOUBT Dirk is the best Power Forward of all time. Why? Dirk won a NBA championship as the focal point of an offense. While having no superstars around him. Other great PFs that won championships such as Kevin Mchale, Kevin Garnet and Tim Duncan all had All-Stars to Super-Stars around them. Dirk was the #1 scoring option on championship team. Oh yeah Dirk is also #13 ALL TIME SCORER! So he also holds statistically to Karl Malone. Case closed!

Yeah, Malone played with stockton, the PG with the most assists ever, Garnett got till 2008 always shitty teams who barely came to the playoffs. And defensivly Garnett were just in an other world.

Jason Kidd was long past his all star days and not even half of what he was in his prime with the Nets. Tyson Chandler got waived from team to team for years prior to his appearance and had in fact not a single healthy season, almost always played around 60 games at most per season. 6th man of the year is a worthless award and measn nothing. Jason Terry was a below avarage second option for a title run team, a streaky shooter who was bad at defence. Like really bad avaraging 2 rebounds.

I hate how American shows add subtitles to every foreign person even when they speak good, understandable English. Trust me when I say I had a much easier time understanding Holger than I do with some of the knuckleheads I encounter every day in this country.

KG and Tim Duncan are great because they also play amazing defense. Don't forget Dirk had Steve Nash and Michael Finley at 1 point playing with him
Dirk is better clutch scorer and scorer overall than both of them if he can play at this level for 2 more years he can break the 30k mark for all time scoring. He is also close to yet another 50/40/90 season again just showing his incredible scoring skills.
Thanks to him stretching the defence so much made it possible for scrubs like Barrea to have breakout games like they had in the POs. He is also easy to build around, look at 2011, all he ever needed was a non-aweful PG and a decent defensive center.
Dirk might not be as good as TD or KG at defence but ever since Avery Johnson he has turned into a avarage/decent defender. Check Pau Gasols stats against him in that 2011 Lakers/Mavs series.
And Tim Duncan has had a HOF coach his whole career.

Grundsätzlich sind BB, HB, EH, VB oder Einzelsportarten eigentlich nicht wirklich relevant. Hätten die Handballer die EM nicht gewonnen, hätts auch nur ne kleine Randnotiz in der Bild gegeben, so von wegen Deutschland war im Finale. Wohingegen der Hype zur Fussball-WM ja schon anfing, als die mit den Qualis gerade erst fertig waren.
Ich persöhnlich find's zwar schade, weil ich auch manch anderen Sport gerne seh, wenn ich die Chance hab, aber lässt sich nicht ändern..
+Shun Megami free-tv ist ein schlechtes beispiel. hier kann man nämlich alles sehen, ABGESEHEN von fußball (außer länderspiele/europapokals. sport1 überträgt wöchentlich einige spiele aus der del, hbl und bbl.
+Shun Megami aber vergleich mal die NBA (geile atmosphäre, unglaubliche pässe, dunks, 3 pointers, oder generell spielzüge) mit unserer beko bbl.
klar ist unsere liga nicht so populär, aber die spielen da mega den letzten und niedersten müll. ich habe freunde, die nur privat spielen und diese liga mit ein wenig training zerstören würden. mal im ernst: für die deutsche bbl brauchst du 0 qualifikation oder talent haha
in der nba hingegen ist beinahe jedes spiel ein wirkliches fest für jede altersgruppe. würde ein sender mal tief in die tasche greifen, um solche spiele in deutschland zeigen zu können, hätten sie so gute einschaltquoten :D
