    Great unboxing Marty you have scored some great castings and a lot of 'A' series numbers like the 15a Diamond T prime mover and the 9a Dennis fire escape. The milk float is also an 'A' series 29a Bedford CA. The Blue Bedford Tractor unit is from the Accessory Pack 2a Car transporter with grey wheels and later castings were in Orange cab, grey trailer with black wheels. I find a great source for information all things diecast especially Matchbox is at WWW. vintagebritishdiecasts.co.uk, give it a try.

      @Papa Tom This particular Needham (me) was born in Derby, England. The name is not uncommon in and around Derby and Nottingham. There are a few in Bristol to the west and some to the east in Suffolk, where there is even a town called Needham Market. What happened when more adventurous Needhams arrived in America, I don't know - except, of course, there is a city in Massachusetts called Needham which was named after Needham Market. I don't know of the Minnesota connection. I'd better end this by thanking Marty for the use of his TH-cam page to discuss genealogy! Best wishes to you Papa Tom!

    Brilliant video, and good to see all those models craving attention! :-)
    I love those Bedford CA vans! I drove one in the late '70s, 1500 cc, thre-on-the-tree, and a 0-40 time of about 3 weeks. It was incapable of breaking many speed limits, as by the time it struggled up to 30, it was time to slow down again! It was called 'Uriah' because it was a 'Heep'! :-)

    On the tank, could you drill and tap the remaining part of the barrel and find or make(3d print) a threaded replacement,might help keep the diameter closer to the original barrel versus using tubing over the exist'g stump, just a thought.
    Wow you scored on the donations this round. That camera was amazing condition and a very kind gift to add to your collection.

Marty, we could never get bored watching your videos, keep them coming.

    Nice haul Marty! It was especially nice of Tom to send you the camera for your collection.
    The prime mover looks a lot like that one from the major pack you showed in your last unboxing video, and don't straighten the rear of the Impala, that's how the original cars built by Chevrolet looked for the 59 model year, incidentally GMH (Holden) assembled several hundred right hand drive 4 door sedans that year for US consulate staff and their families over here at the time.

    I was smiling ear to ear when I saw the unmistakable wings of the 1959 Bel Air Impala out of the bag. Our first family car was its sister, the nearly identicle but single colour Bel Air. Just Monday night I had spent several hours looking to see if Hot Wheels ever put either model out. I didn't expect there might be a MatchBox edition of such an obscure model. Thanks to TH-cam channels like yours I'm nearly ready to try to search out the models and take a shot at matching the first car I remember riding in.

    Others have already added all the factual details I would have, so I have nothing worthwhile to contribute except my opinion, which is that I thoroughly enjoy your videos and have learned a lot from watching them. I'm around your age and have been collecting Matchbox and other model cars since I was a kid. I've repainted a few but haven't ever tried a really proper restoration. @johnnyvscustomsgaragetassie. 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Hey Marty, That blue truck is a Lesney tractor for the early matchbox car carrier set. So you'll have to chase up the trailer part to complete it. Cheer's John

    • @MartysMatchboxMakeovers
      @MartysMatchboxMakeovers  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks John, but are you sure!? - I do have a similar model in blue but it is slightly smaller and I think it comes with a trailer. I thought maybe the scale of the one shown is difficult to gauge with the close up photography.

    • @johnnyvscustomsgaragetassie.
      @johnnyvscustomsgaragetassie. 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey again Marty, I'm sure as the the smaller one is from the Wall's Ice-cream Tractor trailer set so you'll have to search out the car float. John @@MartysMatchboxMakeovers

      I don't think it is. the car transporter tractor was bigger. I'm fairly sure the one sent to Marty is from the Walls Ice Cream van.

    • @johnnyvscustomsgaragetassie.
      @johnnyvscustomsgaragetassie. 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, Just to clarify That the car transporter truck is 4.5cm and 3cm high 3cm wide across the cab 2cm wide at chassis with 12mm wheels On the Wall's Ice cream truck 4cm long 2cm wide across the cab 2.5cm high 1.2cm wide at the chassis with 9 to 10mm wheels. Now I'm being not being picky but I do know the difference between them and I offered that advice to Marty in good conscience He didn't seem to know it and that's just what I wanted him to know. Hope you also understand. John @@lesbird2074

    My Mother had one of those Kodak cameras. Over the years, however, (50's - 60's) the leather degraded to such a state that we could no longer use it as light was coming through the sides. The one given to you by Tom looks to be in spectacular condition and, if you were able to source the film for it, I don't doubt it would still take an excellent picture.

    I think the orange truck is one of the originals along with the fire engine. I had them when I was four or five and I'm 73 this year. Orange truck is a Scammel I think and I had a low loader trailer to pull behind it (I think I had a little bulldozer to go on the trailer too.

    The orange truck that Rob sent is a #15 Prime Mover, probably meant to be mated to the #16 Atlantic Trailer. The fire truck is #9 Dennis Fire Escape, the large metal wheels are missing from the back.

    Hi, I know you probably will....but I am compelled to....please save the camera box and all it's paperwork. And that dip in the Impala boot/truck is designed. Wow, somebody didn't play with some of those. Beautiful. Nice haul. The tank turrets are always missing. If this keeps up, you might have to open a museum. I can't wait for the 2 Thunderbirds to be restored. I'm not sure whether you put the wig on correctly. Oh...you did at the end. See ya.

    Marty, I love to hear the little stories that you come up with to explain the wear and damage to the models. I'm sure that, like myself, you have worn out the knees in many pair of pants as a kid pushing these cars around in the dirt. Is there one Matchbox model that is your "holy grail"?

    Some fantastic cars, especially the 50s American land yachts. Incidentally that wig looks as if a Buckingham Palace guard tried to trim his Bearskin hat to get a Beatles hair style.

    I remember playing with that fire engine as well! It was in the toy collection of my grandparents. I must have been the third or fourth generation to have played with it. The Impala is meant to look like that but it looks like the windows are caved in, so I think it should be a (light) restoration to mend that windscreen.

    Zip lock bag opening trick: rub your thumb and finger together as if to gesture "more money". Now, place the seal of the bag between your thumb and finger. Using the "money" motion, slide the two sealed edges of the bag parallel to each other. When the seam/end of the bag tries to bend it should pop right open!

    the orange tractor goes with that trailer you had a while ago,the blue Bedford i think is the larger Major's number #2 ice cream truck.

    @ Marty. Yes the Chevy impala is meant to look like that, the 'dent' was a feature of the actual car. Keep up the good work on your restorations.
