  • One of the few fixed blades I own, this beast has taken the place of my new zombie apocolypse knife.
BY PURE DEFINITION, THE SMOKE JUMPER IS A WILD LAND FIREFIGHTER, THAT PARACHUTES
INTO A REMOTE AREA TO COMBAT WILDFIRES. THESE INDIVIDUALS GO THROUGH A VERY
TOUGH AND STRENUOUS TRAINING COURSE, WHICH MANY DO NOT COMPLETE...
ALL IN ALL THIS JOB HAS BEEN GLAMORIZED IN MANY MOVIES, BUT IT IS DIFFICULT
BACKBREAKING WORK, THAT MAY BE VERY DANGEROUS...

THIS KNIFE/TOOL WAS DESIGNED WITH THE SMOKE JUMPER IN MIND..SPECIFICALLY ITS EXTRA
THICK TIP DESIGN IS PERFECT FOR DEEP PENETRATION AND SPLITTING, BATONING AND PRYING IF REQUIRED. ITS DESIGN FURTHER ENABLES THE USER TO MAKE STRONG, DOWNWARD
STROKES FOR MAXIMUM CUTTING AND PENETRATION.
    O/A Length: 11 3/4"
    Blade Length: 6 1/2"
    Cutting Edge: 5 7/8"
    Thickness: 1/4"
    Weight: 22oz
Sheath: Kydex With a Rotating Steel Spring Clip
    Mfg. Handcrafted in the USA

There might be another "primary" reason for the uncoated area on the front, but it makes a decent spot for using the knife with a Ferro rod without dulling the blade edge.

It is 1095 carbon steel, the hole in front is for a forward lanyard! That gimping is for self defense keeping your opponent @ arms length.

I really appreciate that you did this review, there just aren't that many reviews about the Smoke Jumper here on TH-cam. I already own the knife, but sometimes I like watching videos on knives I already own to get get to know more about the knife, & to see if I can get any ideas for new uses or carry styles, etc. Thanks for posting, man.

The whistle is for alerting someone that you have a big ass knife if someone comes at you.

if im not mistaken.... the bare non-powder coated part on the tip is for buscrafting, hitting the tip with a log/stck while you drive it through another piece of wood to split fire wood. and the hole near the blade is for fashioning the knife into a spear using 550 chord or other string in conjunction with the rear lanyard hole

It wouldnt matter if it had the black traction coating on it all over the knife minus the edge tou could still easily baton with it. How do I know? My anaconda 7b is fully coated and batons great

The carabiner on the sheath hooks into the pommel of the knife to further secure it in the sheath for jumping out of planes etc...

the hole is to help attach it to a stick to make a spear and I believe the non coating part on the tip is for a fire steel?

Im digging this seax barong hybrid style blade but the gimping in the handle needs to get the fuck on.

SOmeone said that the front part is like that because it is designed for efficient battoning

This is a nasty fixed blade. I think TOPS offers this blade with the blunt front sharpened. That would make this blade deadly as hell. Heavy, but that is OK. At that weight all you have to do is wack someone on the head and he is down for the count. Don't have to worry about spilling blood. The only thing is that it is a bit pricey. I like the sheath with multiple carry functions. But I am not sure how this knife will carry horizontally. Great knife

They do not offer this knife with the spine sharpened nor should they. The rest of your comment leads me to believe you do not need a knife period if all you think about is does it spill blood or not
