You just solved a brain knot that I've been trying to figure out for weeks! Thanks for detailing this in such a clear way to clear the cobwebs. I knew math would solve it!!!
Very nice! My dad was a life long auto upholsterer & worked at Fords design center in Dearborn. The way I learned tuck & roll in the sixties, was sewing together individual strips of the material ( Naugahyde usually) & then glueing strips of foam in the channels with a scrim back added. Very time consuming. But I've not seen a single you tuber doing it that way? Thank you.

Brian Aragon Thanks for kind remarks ! ...I have started a series of upholstery basics on youtube...very important foundations to understand 'real size upholstery projects' I'd post in my website in a near future.
A million thanks for your detailed video. I've been looking for car upholstery courses in California with no luck 😳😔 I'm so happy I found your videos. Thanks again 😘😘
Great videos Cech! Used my 1245 for years, love it, but I've never done "blind stiches Foamed Channels".... Consequently, I've never used your type of backing cloth. I've always used sewfoam.... Please let me know what backing material you are using? It appears that you use different kinds in some of your videos I've watched. Absolutely love your videos! You are definately a master craftsman! Thanks, Bennet
I have used a muslin cloth as backing on the reverse side. Sew foams come already with a backing cloth thoroughly glued down over the reverse side of foam material. It is much easier to handle.
I have seen just about every Video you have made and I am not only amazed but inspired to continue my work for the Art Form like yourself. Thank You for this now off to purchase another machine, my Juki is not that great thinking of consew or PFAFF.

Hi Joe, thanks a lot for your valuable comment ! ...As a matter of fact, these basic tutorials would take us, to carry out beautiful designs on car seats. Most of the real size projects would be taught as part of training programs on the website. Keep on following me on youtube!
Ok Cech! Finally figured out, with vinyl, my dimensions with converting cm and mm to inches, did two sew outs and on the second one it all came out perfectly because of your video! My question is, I did this with vinyl, are there any changes in dimensions when using leather? I'm ready to cut the leather for this vintage car and I can't mess up 1000.00 worth of leather! The tight folds that are folded to sew is my main concern. It's standard auto leather, not hardly any difference in thickness, a little maybe, than the vinyl.... Great videos! Thanks so much! Bennet
Thank you for the quick response. looking at your other videos now. It did look like a very large needle. +Eric Camden This needle size is used as an 'average needle' to do heavy leather upholstery...but if you are going to use a lighter material (fabric or light leather) a 18=110 or 19=120 would be OK.
+Cechaflo I'll be using two types of vinyl, one with alligator design, the other a traditional black. Both will be around 30 oz. Does this sound like it would work well on a motorcycle seat?

Hi Bennet, Similar procedures with leather material.
Thank you for the quick response. looking at your other videos now. It did look like a very large needle. A lot of videos are suggesting smaller needles like a 16 or 18 but I'd you're using 90 plus thread, I can understand the larger needle. I'm going to do my own motorcycle seat and will use some of your methods. Thanks again
+Eric Camden This needle size is used as an 'average needle' to do heavy leather upholstery...but if you are going to use a lighter material (fabric or light leather) a 18=110 or 19=120 would be OK.
