Firstly, I can only apologise for my constant "good boy's" it's the only words of encouragement I have for him apparently, lol.
I thought hard about whether I should include the clip of Ollie getting stuck in his reins or not, but I decided to keep it in the video to be transparent and show that these things can happen with horses, and not everything is perfect! Safe to say I have learned from my mistake.
EXPLANATION!!!!
Any time in the past that I have dropped my reins onto Ollie's neck, I have never had a problem because he's always had a mane/fur that provides some form of grip so that the reins do not slip. However, this is the first year he's ever been hogged and sometimes I do forget he's got no mane!.
In the video, I dropped my reins for a second to adjust my helmet, and at that same moment, Ollie wanted to sniff the water that was running down from the mountain! Within a few seconds, disaster struck as the reins slipped right down his freshly clipped neck and hogged mane!. I didn't even realise until he stepped on them!.
Luckily, I am blessed with a calm and trusting horse, who stayed still while I fixed my mistake!!. I am 10000% aware that this was completely my fault. I am thankful every day that I was blessed with this patient horse!!.
Before I got back on, I checked his mouth and bridle area to ensure there was no harm done to him and he was completely fine, which shows throughout the rest of the video with him being very enthusiastic!.
