    The Japanese version of the Minus World is just the true ending of the game. Mario finds a crazy world, goes through it, only to hear the ghost of a Toad tell him the Princess is in another castle. However, this castle has no exit. Mario is forced to make a portal to a PARALLEL UNIVERSE, and goes to a much harder world. So Luigi, that’s how I came back from defeating dragon.

    Back when game code was so simplistic you could accidentally cause a bunch of invalid data to be loaded as a stage and the game would go "Okay, no problem ;)". Stable to a fault.
    There are also "minus worlds" in the original Metroid and Rygar.

      Each different port of Super Mario Bros. has a different Minus World:
      NES: World -1: Welcome to the minus world!: World 7-2: 01/81
      FDS: World -1: Minus World: 09/89: Underwater 5-3, World -2: Deja vu?: World 7-3: 27/A7, World -3: Blooper Castle: 44/C4: Underground 4-4
      Genesis: World -1: Pipe Land strikes back: World 6-2: 23/A3, World -2: ???: 34/B4: Coin Heavens B that T's you up the moment you enter the level, you will get T'd up until you game over.
      SNES: Minus World varies based on the frame the Super Mario Bros. minigame spawns due to a TAS in the Super Mario World game. The most commonly used SNES port's Minus World is underwater 4-2 or 1A/9A, but Kosmic's SNES port's Minus World had a -1 world which is world 5-3 or 26/A6, and a -2 world that is similar to the -3 world on the FDS version, with the underground 4-4 and the bloopers. Also, doing the power cycle on your emulator in the SNES port of Super Mario Bros. will pick random tuning areas for the world (16-bit integers), and assign them to the 8-bit areas that normally crash, such as area 49/C9, 4C/CC, 4E/CE, 51/D1, 52/D2, 56/D6, 57/D7, 5A/DA, 5D/DD, 5E/DE, 7D/FD, and 7F/FF.
      C64: World -1: Minus World: 07/87: Underwater 3-1, World -2: Deja vu?: World 1-1: 25/A5, World -3: Underground Coin Room: 42/C2
      VRC6: World -1: Minus World: 08/88: Underwater 1-1, World -2: Deja vu?: World 5-3: 26/A6, World -3: Blooper castle: 43/C3: Underground 1-4
      Sunsoft: World -1: Minus World: 10/90: Underwater 6-3, World -2: Deja vu?: World 1-1: 25/A5, World -3: ???: 4F/CF
      ???: World -1: Minus World: 0A/8A: Underwater 7-3, World -2: Deja vu?: World 2-1: 28/A8, World -3: Blooper and firebar castle: 45/C5: Underground 2-4

    Well, there is an other way to trigger minus worlds. You have to play tennis game, get random amount of points (points decide what level you're going to get). Then SLOWLY take the cart out of the console, and then simply replace it with super mario bros and click the reset button. I saw is years ago on some super mario forum, i think (i don't actually remember). I never saw anybody doing it, or even mentioning it ever again. But i'm sure it's real. Maybe it's so obscure beacause it can only be done on famicom (i think. still, not sure).

    2:09 why does is happen? Well the pipe that goes up is made out of 8 blocks and landing on one on a pixel perfect location will make mario stand on that block for 1 frame and jumping on that frame will do a walljump but landing on the 7th one will make marios head bash into 2 blocks and the collision detection will push mario to the right and The warp zone will have the 4-2 warp zone values

    In the Japanese glitched worlds, you can get to the Minus World in an alternate manner. If you run the Mario/Tennis glitch and end up in the level that resembles 1-2, among shorter platforms and warp pipes that go no where, if you jump over the L pipe at the end in a normal fashion (as most players do), there are the 3 warp pipes and 5 is displayed above the middle pipe with no value above the outside pipes. If you take the outside pipes, you end up in the Minus World, but there's no need for clipping through walls here. Having no values above the outside pipes is what made me realize that the Minus Worlds were in fact the "Blank Worlds" as in Blank-1, as you point out.

    I have a theory.
    Due to the fact that you haven't entered the loading zone for the warp zone, the game doesn't know where to take you because you weren't supposed to be here at this time. These minus worlds are most likely test zones and world -1 was world 7-2 in development. We might never know why these exist... but they are cool little things curious players found and im glad we found them.

    • @djolympushelix2687

      Blue Coke I have a theory too if you haven't read my comment yet. After the lightning strike he was at 7-1 completed it paused it at castle war time. After the lightning strike it glitched the game out and said 7-1 and Famicom and Nintendo both worked on it to make a new glitch to go into the wall, from there, that was negative minus world history!

      Just how many people have I brainwashed? I'm the only dummy who gets things wrong, and even brainwashed people to give wrong answers. Some geniuses have showed videos giving true proof, and even posted correct answers that perfectly make sense. Here's what those geniuses know, World 1 Level 2 Warp Zone data gets data from World 4 Level 2, so when you go through the wall in World 1 Level 2, you're really in the Warp Zone intended for World 4 Level 2, and World 1 Level 2 always intended to have pipes for Worlds 2-4, or should I say World 2, World 3, and World 4, because I realized putting 2-4 almost seems like World 2 Level 4. Every genius knows that, and those geniuses are always right, and what makes them even more awesome is that they point out that I'm dumb, drunk, stupid, and anything else that's bad. If you want to be an awesome winner, criticize me, but if you want to be an awful loser, be nice to me.

    • @bennel3588
      @bennel3588 ปีที่แล้ว

      @hello there Did you know that if you put an ending flag in World 8 Level 4, the game will go on past that level instead of ending the game there? I saw a video of it on TH-cam. The person who showed that video also mentioned in the captions that if you put a flag in World 1 Level 4, you will be at World 1 Level 5, and it's like World 2 Level 1, and if you put a flag in World 2 Level 4, you will be at World 2 Level 5, and it will be like World 3 Level 1, and so on. It's like the game knows where you're supposed to go next, but with what's at the end of the level, it will react with default programming. It's like the ending flag takes you to the next level, rescuing Toad takes you to the next world, and rescuing Peach ends the game.

    It's pretty inexcusable when so many big titles from apparently AAA publishers have so many bad glitches/bugs. You want to play a smoothly-running game, not get bugs with the promise of: "Eh, we'll patch it soon."

    • @Destron5683
      @Destron5683 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      1Thunderfire if you knew how complicated games are under the hood then you would know why the bigger and more complex games get the more glitches they tend to have. With reams of code that all has to work to together it gets pretty hard not to have bugs. So if you find that so inexcusable I suggest you create a bug free AAA game and show them how it’s done.

    • @1Thunderfire
      @1Thunderfire 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Destron F I know games are complicated to make, no doubt about it and I apologise if I come across as overly negative and I do not expect a game to have no glitches whatsoever. Yet some companies do have a worse reputation than others when it comes to play-testing and you have to wonder why.

      @1Thunderfire 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@douglasjarnagan3835 That's true and it's fine if there are glitches that people are almost never going to across by accident; some can only be achieved by doing insane things. I got a theory also, as in another comment theory.
    The minus world was discovered after a lightning strike according to TetraBit. So maybe the lightning was a strike or error. Eerily, the lightning strike must've caused the minus world glitching system to occur in the game. Or maybe Nintendo wanted to creep up on us to make us think the lightning strike caused something odd but reasonable to happen, because of everything that could cause a glitch it could be the weather, occurring to the lightning, it used the same force as our fists do. If the lightning was strong enough to make a glitch occur to a glitchy game, maybe Famicom saw the glitch and updated a version of the negative worlds as we know -1 -2 -3 A-1 9-1-9-4 etc. in the Japanese Version, maybe so when we smack device screens with all of our might, the screen'll break. Maybe the lightning had the same force as our fists, and the lightning did something to glitch the game out in an eerie way. The Famicom system must have remade the minus worlds so after the lightning strike doing something eerie to the game, all NES's and Nintendo system started working on the glitch and it was a remake of 7-2 so the lightning strike eerily made it say -1, maybe it just glitched out even though it really was 7-2 where the discoverer of the eerie glitch was already there at 7-1, so maybe he paused the game, waited for the lightning strike to end, and it said -1 for a reason because maybe the lightning used the same force as our fists do when we kick or smack the screen and it breaks. Nintendo must have been working on the glitch to happen, so maybe they worked on the glitch and made you clip into the wall for the glitch to happen, and from there Nintendo made history. Remember, it is just a little theory I made up, because I used common sense, so if you say that theory is wrong, it will be greatly appreciated.

      The lightning has a low chance, but possible, as the console could read or write to the wrong address due to an increased amount of voltage to parts of the console. However, the difference in the Famicom version may be a result of different ROM or RAM mapping, or that the international version may have had localization patches.

      By World 5, there were two codes set to 24 which probably leads to World 36, but there's no pipe leading to wherever 24 was set to, which means we cannot access it. We can add a pipe to those codes, and go to the Minus World that way. To visit the Minus World, glitch your way through the wall in World 1 level 2 where the warp zone is at, make sure the numbers do not show up, and then enter the left pipe, and then you're at the Minus World, but if you go to the pipe in the middle without the numbers showing up, you will be in World 5.

      Might try if theres a genie code that allows you to not die when time ends

    • @AlbertTheGamer-gk7sn
      @AlbertTheGamer-gk7sn ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually, if you TAS the game in a way when you enter the Minus World and get through the 7 boards and exit the pipe. you will go to a coin heavens room that resets the game, and spam the Konami code in frame perfect, pixel perfect times, you can enter a backdoor called "Create Account". Then, you can create your account, decorate your game, save your highscores, and even send the unique scores and gameplay to Nintendo. This was first discovered by Marionaire, and himself, adika23560, and AndrewG were the first people to have Super Mario Bros. accounts. You need an emulator to access accounts. You can also save your position so you can go back to the level you left off, just in case you game over or reset your console. Also, if you power cycle your console, if you have an account, your highscores will be saved.

    • @AlbertTheGamer-gk7sn
      @AlbertTheGamer-gk7sn ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, Marionaire was the one that created the Create Account, with a TAS that involves starting the game on a specific frame, stomping on a specific number of enemies, finishing each level on a specific framerule, and warping to the Minus World. In the Minus World, Mario must slow down at specific points in the level to manipulate his subpixel position and touch the 7 invisible platforms in the Minus World for exactly 1 frame. Then, after the last platform is pressed, the game glitches out and crashes, going back to the title screen. Then, you must mash the Konami code buttons in frame-perfect inputs and then you can create a Super Mario Bros. account. Creating an account allows you to connect with friends, sync your highscores, and perform speedruns without using a timer. After you create an account, you have to play World 0, dubbed as "Tutorial World" once before playing World 1, and after beating the game, you can go to freeplay mode and explore all 32 areas, and here's what you can find:
      A yellow flag with a Goomba on it to represent a Goomba the Quick race, similar to Super Mario 64's Koopa the Quick race in world 1-1
      An emotionless sprite of a Goomba in world 1-2
      A rainbow track above every Coin Heavens level similar to Mario Kart's Rainbow Road
      Monty Moles in world 4-1, 6-1, and C-1, possibly designed to jump at players at random times from the ground
      Pachyderm from Yoshi's Island following you with a stop sign, preventing you from going backwards. If you remove him using a TAS, you could go backwards.
      Bowser's Castle in world 8-4, includes Bowser's bedroom, dressing room, bathroom, kitchen, dining room, food court, an entertainment room with pool tables, table tennis, an arcade and casino, a bar and nightclub, a recreation room with a gym, bowling alley, spa, and indoor pool, a conservatory, a library, a movie theater, and when you look outside, you can find an outdoor waterpark with 2 swimming pools, a hot tub, 2 waterslides, an outdoor cinema, a wavepool, a Flowrider surf simulator, a kiddie splash zone, as well as a mini golf course, tennis courts, a basketball court, beach volleyball courts, a soccer field, a playground, and a flat area where the Koopalings can play around. There even is an underground lair filled with weapons, magic potions by Kamek, a Bro character club, also known as a fraternity, and everything Bowser has stolen from the Mushroom Kingdom, including money, jewelry, rare electronics, and priceless artifacts along with a garage with supercars like Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Aston Martins, Bugattis, and even a hangar with private planes, all stolen by the Koopa Troop. There is also a secret mission for Mario to return every stolen item back to its rightful owners after beating the game, as after Bowser turned the Mushroom Kingdom residents into blocks, he decided to steal every valuable item they own and build his castle full of luxurious items.
      A flock of geese, Luigi holding balloons, a hot-air balloon, an island with a single mystery box and a cannon with coin rings in the sky, and a subway system, a room with a Toad, possibly Mario's underground house, a cave with Dorrie, and an underwater section underground.
      A door in World 4-2 right above the beanstalk, leading to the warp zone.

    • @AlbertTheGamer-gk7sn
      @AlbertTheGamer-gk7sn ปีที่แล้ว

      Using Marionaire's TAS, it is theorized you can exit the Minus World and warp to World 8, skipping World 4 in speedruns, saving 10-20 seconds. Then, it is discovered you can warp to World 8-4, saving a lot of time, and you can even warp to the final stage of World 8-4 while in the Minus World, causing Super Mario Bros. to be beaten in 1 minute and 45 seconds. This speedrun strat is not used because Marionaire got terminated and the tricks are way too precise for a human to replicate. However, in the 2030's and 2040's, maybe, this trick could be used. This TAS was used in Super Mario Bros. 3 to access the code, it was used in Super Mario World to access the Pong, Snake, and Chess minigames, it was used in Super Mario 64 to access beta content, and it was used in several other games to access cool things, like a chat in a 16-bit offline game, but with different inputs. Each of these TASes have the capability to load the end credits right away, saving lots of time for speedrunners. However, most of these credit warps are way too swag for a human to replicate, except for the one in Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World.

    I discovered something interesting in level minus 1.
    When you complete the level, obviously you go into a loop and start from the beginning of the level again.
    And whenever you die it puts you in the middle of the level where you can drown if you don't act fast.
    But I discovered that if you enter the pipe at the very end of the level with zero time left then die at the beginning, Mario starts at the beginning however he falls above the surface of the water instead.
    Now, from here on whenever you die, it will take Mario to the beginning of the level instead.
    Hmm I wonder if I'm the first to discover this.
    Edit: So I have tested what happens if I just let the time run out at the very beginning of the level without moving, and it has the same effect. Mario will start the level that same way instead of in the middle of the level. So the glitch doesn't appear when you enter the pipe at zero seconds but it's when you die _anywhere_ before the halfway point of the level. It's like the halfway point is a save point.
    To sum up, if you finish the minus 1 level by entering the pipe at zero seconds, the game doesn't acknowledge that you finished or even attempted the level.

    I wonder why the Famicom -1 is different from the NES version is it a memory space issue or what? Also I wonder if you can still access the -1 World on Allstars for the SNES

    Wait….. so there’s two world 1-1’s in Super Mario Bros? One 1-1 at the very beginning of the game and the other with buzzy beetles replacing goombas?

    So I'm not from a particularly rich country, and as kids we would have all kinds of these chinese NES knockoffs that came with those classic famicom tiny yellow cartridges. Thing is, lots of those games were pirated (we had no clue), for instance I had a Super Mario Bros 9 game. Nine? It was basically Adventure Island 2 with the main character sprite replaced with a green mario (green?) and some projectiles were different I think.
    Anyways, we had lots of those 99 in 1 games, 137 in 1, 99999999 in 1 etc, and in one of those there was a really effed up version of super mario. It always had only one single stage but... every time you play it's completely different and messed up, weird things happen, physics change, like imagine walking and right in the middle of the stage... there's an axe.. just sitting there alone (picking it up didnt do anything it just disappears). I loved that game xD It was like exploring some world outside of the gaming dimension.

    I bet you the japanese minus world is what inspired both the sky bloopers and world 9 of the lost levels

    In the glitch world M-1, you can access the minus world through the warp zone

      No. World M-1 only consists of Worlds 3-3 and 8-3, ending with the underwater coin bonus at World M-A, similar to World D-D, I-B, R-C, V-B, Z-D, --9, and mushroom-8.
