Nik wrestled like teske isn’t a 3rd period wrestler. No respect at all. Gotta hold that boy down after those takedowns.
Up 10-2 losing 🤦♂️come on nic
A Bou match for sure
Haven't seen someone up that big and gas out to lose since Ethan Lizak.
@@MrGuanYu1 jayson ness comeback in the ncaa championship comes to mind
Teske showed remarkable mental fortitude. Well done!
Fortitude precisely. He kept wrestling.
It looked like the OSU wrestler was trying too hard for the major decision. Giving up escapes with the presumption of scoring a takedown is pretty risky with the 3 point takedown. Instead of trying for force an outcome, just focus on solid fundamental wrestling. The points will come. Trying to force an extra team point cost OSU their 3 seed. Obviously the risk - reward calculus is just not there for that sort of strategy.
That’s gotta be one of the matches of the tournament
I’d say it was one of the matches of all time
Rivera is acting like a clown..not giving the reversal right away in the 1st period which would have led to 3 nf if not 4 easily...had to review and other ref fixed riveras mistake but incorrectly gave only 2 nf..I mean bouz had both arms pinched right after throw
This comes from seeding Teske as if he wasn't Iowa's "real" 133-pounder. At the same time, the scoring was wrong (they forgot to give Teske 1 for an escape) and they robbed Bouzakis of 2 obvious reversals. So, the whole thing was a soup sandwich.
where was the 1 escape forgotten at? Re-watched and didn't see anything. Also--two obvious reversals? I agree with the second one but the first one was not a reversal. I can see where it _could've_ been, but if you reward Bouzakis a reversal for having Teske on his back with a few seconds left towards the 2nd of the second, then Teske should get a reversal back cause he ended that period in control. Wild match for sure though.
Great strategy by Iowa,Nick gasses in the dog fights.Teske made it into the dog fight. Both great competitors! Think that 14 seed inspired Brody! Brands put that on him.Go HAWKS!
@@kristopherwilson506 So there's a reversal, and then a challenge for 2 near fall, which OSU wins. Then they're in neutral, presumably because they ether decided loss of control after the back points or an intentional release - but no point is given either way. As for the 2 reversals, I would give one at the end of both 2nd and 3rd period. Teske was on his back for 15-20 seconds both times, with Bouzakis holding him in that position. The fact that he's clinging to a leg while laying on his back shouldn't matter.
@@rustygray5058I completely agree. I don't like how much back exposure is allowed by the supposed offensive wrestler. It's counterintuitive to the entire idea of pinning your opponent.
that was a BS non call from the ref... when i was a high school wrestling coach i always told the kids. You're wrestling against two people your opponent and the ref... Don't let the ref get the chance make a bad judgment call on you.
We will see them wrestling for third again.
That aged well
He got the reversal woth one second!
Yeah he did I paused the video and was able to see when he was free and it was still a second left but nic gave him that cradle too easy
The ref pointed out that Teske still had the leg locked and even with that factored I would have thought reversal but apparently must be some sort of rule to say it's not. Notice how Nic wasn't screaming pissed?
Did he get his head out with 1 second left on the clock?
No
Yes!! He did!!
Doesn’t matter. Teske still had ahold of a leg.
Nic lost it at 10:07 when Brody escaped. Nic should've shot a double. Instead, he backed up. Brody slapped his head, distracting him, then took his shot. Nic is a great wrestler, but he didn't have the killer instinct and Brody smelled that out. This distracted mindset played itself out again immediately after Brody released him. Nic lazily put himself into a cradle without thinking. Like his mind was already on the next match.
Bou doesn’t seem to think much when he wrestles…
@ogot344 ...he wrestled brainless after 3:30 mark. BRAINLESS
I am an Iowa fan and was shocked that Nic lost. Nic is young and has a bright future ahead of him, he will bounce back he is a stud! Good job by Teske though
Gotta respect a guy that just won't quit.
NB lost to Northern Iowa wrestler Julian Farber earlier this year. He has lacked consistency
Way to go Teske!
Boo
terrible officiating.
how? that was a reversal
Top wrestler didn't have any points of control. Both hands on the mat. With that, bottom wrestler still had the leg. No Reversal
Still had his leg. No control
The refs looked like they favored iowa
Nic is my favorite wrestler . Tom Ryan is a class act. He needs time, training , confidence . I’m not counting out an at large bid and all American status this year
Doubt it. I watched Nic lose to a Northern Iowa wrestler this year.
Nik was gassed out
he does cut a lot of weight but nic had that reversal it should’ve gone to OT
WHAT A MATCH
🤦🏼
💪
collegiate wrestling officiating is some of the most unexplained bs.
