I like how Nardwuar has been mispronouncing "Biafra" for over three decades and Jello never corrects him, at least not in the few interviews I've seen.
"The Riddler", performed by man of 1000 impersonations Frank Gorshin, written by Mel Torme, and on top of that.... produced by ""Dave Gates", the lead singer of mellow 70s rock group Bread...and you're just giving it over to Jello Biafra...who's wearing a shirt of...flying cats??? Awesome.
Funny, i was just rewatching the old Biafra interviews because of the youtube recomendations. The algorithm is coming for our collective uncool nieces.
these videos bring me more fulfillment than ever before, I lost my mom 4 years ago (im 27 these days) and we bonded heavy over punk rock especially the ramones ... we even got to visit JR's home, and she was also the one supporting me the most in skateboarding; I appreciate all you've done throughout the years and only saying this I feel I haven't gotten my words voiced properly, but thank you.
Very true. Though I sometimes wonder if her antagonistic personality shuts off when the cameras do. I’d like to believe everyone enjoys being interviewed by Nardwuar.. whether they admit it or not 😎
she might of got mad, but I think if she was honest in retrospect she would admit it was an interesting interview. I felt like i knew her a lot better after that interview...in a positive way.
I like how Jello was invited to the set of a Belushi movie but was too busy looking in record stores to go. A lot of people would be all giddy to be on a movie set but Jellos like "i'm record shopping" lol
Love that Ramones story. Jello did an homage to the Ramones with "kill the poor". Listen to "You're gonna kill that girl" by the Ramones, especially the closing 30 seconds or so... Jello has admitted that the similarity is intentional. Too funny that Johnny wrote him and told him to stop going on about politics, lol. As silly as that is, it's pretty cool that those two opposites were briefly "pen pals"...
In a way I get why Johnny would say that. I'm not a huge fan of it myself. I like some political music but in many cases it gets to the point where the politics overshadow/overtake the music and it feels more like you're getting a political speech with monotonous music behind it. Also it veers into a condescending holier than thou/taking down to you vibe as well. Jello once wrote a very right on song called Where Do You Draw the Line? And it seems most, including ironically Jello himself, fall into the trap talked about in that song.
@@brandonhendrix7223 I hear you. By "too funny", I wasn't necessarily voicing support for a political stance, but rather pointing out that telling Jello he shouldn't talk about politics is like telling Dee Dee not to write about being an outsider... It's nice that Johnny cared, but he was wasting his effort there! As mentioned, I don't necessarily endorse a high percentage of Jello's polemical screeds (though some of them), but I do think DK are one of the greatest punk bands, and I enjoy all their music. What helps, for me, is the satire and humor that Jello often employed, the fact that even if I very much disagree with a view, at least his words are interesting, and the great music that the band payed. By contrast, politics DOES get in the way of my enjoyment of, say, Crass, or MDC... mostly humourless ('specially in the former case), it's rather like the effect of a drunk guy at the barstool next to you yelling some rant at you. Very sincere, but not fun! I connect to punk because I'm fucked up; functionally fucked up, but I digress. I can relate to the music, whatever the lyrical sentiment, because I've got my own issues, and just connect with the alienation. My own stuff makes me want to hear music like this, and I'll set aside disagreement with the specific lyrics, for the most part.
Jello was my hero in my early teenage years. Even stopped for a time to listen to The Exploited, a band that brought me to punk, because the singer Wattie Buchan used to diss him very rigorously.
what props do they really deserve? They've had all their albums reissued, they had tv shows, hit records, Mark Lindsay solo career. Really only their early work can be called "garage" at best.
I could just see him trying to annoy his dorm cranking out the Pistols and cutting his hippy hair to the opening power chords of Holidays In the Sun starting it off! Reminds me of my almost over zealous early times of Punk conversion. It hit me hard back in '77!
Idk much about Jello but I saw 3 parts and he started the first gift response with the first grade. Seems like any interview with him might as well be a podcast.
Why am I not surprised that Mike Patton was brought up when he was talking about the Ramones. That dude is fuckin everywhere, I swear. I think he's in my room right now.
This makes my day! God I hate Gilman st, amI the only one that never needed to go to punk rock nursery school? I just realised Jello reminds me of Daffy Duck.
Oh my god I really feel for JellO. Hes been couped up from covid. Prob the first time he talked in days....I am just now noticing this is part 1....hes a load of info tho
not one of nardwuar's best interviews, he didn't anticipate at all while jello biafra gave plenty of openings to ask interesting questions. it's like he just went by script
When will anyone realize that when you ask a Gemini a question, they don’t stop talking!!! Love Jello. Funny, I was tripping the other day and watched all of Jello-Narduwar interviews.
I used to have that same Holiday Inn Cambodia t-shirt which I wore when I was about 15 in 1988 in Garden Grove California where lived many immigrants from Southeast Asia. One day a fellow student at the high school asked what the shirt was about because he was from Cambodia. I tried to explain the song's lyrics while feeling a bit of a dick for making the Cambodian kid uncomfortable.
Jello has an insanely good memory, he sees a flier from a show he did 28 years ago and immediately remembers the exact night, extremely impressive.
Almost 3 hours of Jello?? Let's fucking go.
hell yeah
Absolutely. I’m all in.
Dude it's 47 minutes, it's not even one hour, where you getting "almost 3 hours"?
@@dudeman5303 There's three parts.
@@dudeman5303 There are three parts.

I hope so! Hahahaha
Hopefully longer than that!
That's only another decade for Jello

Nardwuar: I have here an original copy of the cypher you sent to the San Francisco Chronicle
Ted Cruz: What?
Nardwuar: You are the Zodiac Killer.

Don't lie, we know it was really Bernie Sanders.
Or the fucking bad guy from speed XD xD
@@jonharson as long as he got into office I'd forgive him.
Jello tells the same hour long stories every interview, yet I keep watching them.
I know right! funny
To bad he never critisize the democratic party that nowdays hes even worst than republicans!
The only dude who talks more than Nardwuar.
Probably a good thing because then all the rappers got time to know what to say, jk
Nard might be a slightly aggressive interviewer but i don't find he talks too much
An interviewer is lucky to get 5 questions in with Jello lol
with just as interesting as a voice to listen to
Lol they were both talking over each other in the beginning. Jello about Adobe flash and Nardwuar about the joker 7”. I was laughing my a off lol
I like how Nardwuar has been mispronouncing "Biafra" for over three decades and Jello never corrects him, at least not in the few interviews I've seen.
I doubt he carse
Nard! I’ve missed ya.the only interviewer who matters.
Sean Evans tho
This has to be the best Nard interview ever and the most in depth Jello interview i'd love to look thru his Records
Nardwaur is awesome and him interviewing old friends is awesome to me.
Awesome.
Ahh, I wondered if that was the same "Dave Gates". Cheers.
I freaking love Nardwuar and Jello interviews, It's like a music history lesson that doesn't suck
Funny, i was just rewatching the old Biafra interviews because of the youtube recomendations. The algorithm is coming for our collective uncool nieces.
Phenomenal stuff. Nardwuar's so enthralled, entranced, electrified, especially when Jello reminisces about meeting the Ramones.
these videos bring me more fulfillment than ever before, I lost my mom 4 years ago (im 27 these days) and we bonded heavy over punk rock especially the ramones ... we even got to visit JR's home, and she was also the one supporting me the most in skateboarding; I appreciate all you've done throughout the years and only saying this I feel I haven't gotten my words voiced properly, but thank you.
Punk Rockers ALWAYS respect The Nard.
Except Lydia Lunch
of course.
Very true.
Though I sometimes wonder if her antagonistic personality shuts off when the cameras do. I’d like to believe everyone enjoys being interviewed by Nardwuar.. whether they admit it or not 😎
Lydia lunch is about as punk rock as the singer of good charlotte but with a snotty attitude. All she did was bang punk rockers.
I think Henry Rollins gave him the biz once too.
she might of got mad, but I think if she was honest in retrospect she would admit it was an interesting interview. I felt like i knew her a lot better after that interview...in a positive way.
There's always room for Jello
I have his autograph...
"No thanks, I prefer pudding pops. And rape." - Bill Cosby
Imagine Jello and Nardwuar singing Bossa Nova together.

18:40 - I bought Holiday In Cambodia when I was 15 and the shop assistant insisted I have it in a brown paper bag!
These guys' personalities match each other so well. I just love seeing them interact.

How could you tell? You can't understand a thing Wattie says!
I read interviews 😂 no one can understand this man haha
Urgh! did officially come out on dvd within the last few years. My record shop had it
Yeah - I have a DVD of it, which may or may not be an official release. It looks and sounds great though.
I'm so happy to see Jello wearing a shirt like that
Human serviette and Biafra are made in heaven. Nardwuar were silent and both had a genuine laugh at their stories.

Love how Nardwuar , even in a zoom call, in a room somewhere , seems to be compelled to hold the mic . We’re all creatures of habit I guess! 😆
I believe that's the house he grew up in, in North Vancouver.
i love how he just cuts to an overhead of himself, hes not just using what available hes innovating the format
Jello and Nardwur are 2 dudes with encyclopedic music knowledge. Fascinating to hear them talk.
THIS ONE IS FOR THE OGS. BIG KNOWLEDGE HERE PREPARE UR SMALL BRAINEYS
Never thought I’d see an old pic of Jello looking like a member of Hawkwind
Thanks, Nard! J-E-L-L-O is exactly what 2021 needs more of.

The different angles Nardwuar uses in these Zoom interviews are so funny
Nardwuar has a crush on Jello as do i :)
Nardwuar is ageless
Jello was just trying to be The Riddler this whole time.
Quite a lot of the 'risky blues' stuff has ended up on the soundtracks of the Fallout games.
