On May 1, the international coffee chain’s shares fell to their lowest in two years as the industry experiences what current CEO Laxman Narasimhan calls "a highly challenged environment." Starbucks also reported its first quarterly sales decline since 2020, as well as lower-than-expected earnings and same-store sales growth. Always baffles me though why people will buy NFTs to effectively fund a business venture. You guys do a lot more than most projects though, so I'll give you that. But from memory, holding the NFT doesn't give you any discount on the products, or free coffee at events? Unless that has changed, if it has, great. The points for staking wasn't great though, and having to level up your NFT to enter certain raffles also wasn't a great idea but look, it's not all fud. The art looks great, the coffee tastes good and you're still here, grinding (pun intended). Most projects died, it's good to see your presence at events. Keep at it.

Where to begin on Starbucks…I don’t even know who to tell…Starbucks is BORING, they rarely change up their food products, what they have already doesn’t taste all that good anyway. When they do have seasonal items they run out of it by 10 am…it’s ridiculous. I’m not sure who at Starbucks thought that coffee drinks mixed with Olive Oil tastes good for GOD SAKE but that was disgusting…they are off the rails.

I’m still not quite understanding the value-add of an NFT-based loyalty scheme over standard app+QR based schemes. The benefits to customer seem pretty standard, i.e. discounted purchases. But the notion of giving customers ‘ownership’ sounded nebulous and lacking any material differentiation, at least to my ears.
There are a few ways an NFT-based scheme could be leveraged effectively, or at least interestingly, but I didn’t hear any mention of anything like that.
