I think Ukraine's and France's entries appealed to the same crowd, and so people that might would have voted for both France and Ukraine under normal conditions went all in for Ukraine instead. France suffered from a quite bad draw also, just like the Netherlands.
Not at all, Ukraine was one of my favorites and France was... well... awful. What even was that? I laughed so hard when i heard it for the first time bc it is so bad. A more fitting reason is that it looked like they were summoning demons and the back vocals were painful to hear
Yeah, France is absolutely amazing in the recorded version but their vocals were terrible live. The Netherlands got absolutely robbed, that was my personal favourite song. And Ukraine... as a Brit I'm disappointed we didn't win but I did enjoy Ukraine's song.
The French song is great in concept, I just think they bombed on stage during the finale. The back vocals sounded awful. I love that they sang in a minority language and combined folk elements with techno, though. I just wish they had been better on stage. Their position super early in the lineup didn't help either. Or to say it bluntly, SHUM walked so Fulenn could trip and fall lol
GOD I love Mika. Which is really saying something about how talented, kind, and charismatic he is - because I had no idea how existed before Eurovison 2022! I was SO confused about why a tall British man I had never seen before was presenting a TV show in Italy 😅
Mika actually participated to different tv shows in italy and basically we adopted him. Lots of people pointed at him when they were choosing the hosts for the eurovision.

I can always only think about the fact that the Boys from Ukraine stand there and this should be the happiest moment of there life... and yet, they don't know if all their friends and families are safe. they don't know if someone they know is dead or injured. they don't know if their houses still stand. It is such a bittersweet Victory and my heart goes out to them.
Then Yugoslavia should have won in 1992 when the war started or Bosnia should have won in 1993 or Croatia or in 1994 or 1995....what about Serbia being bombed in 1999 nobody cared. There was no internet, no war marketing, no information back then, nobody cared.

Well, no, they are not mainstream, they are a metalcore-eurodance band, performing something called 'Fun Metal'. People even started a petition and over 130,000 people signed it. And got ignored. Well, we all know where 'suitable for the radio' has landed Germany once again. The band that was not even allowed to compete in Germany is, btw, 'Electric Callboy' with the song 'Pump It' and right now they are on tour, winning prices, and selling out their next tour for next year in the biggest venues of the world.
When Kaarija said it was ok to be gay with his lights I came out to my grandmother I was watching it with who said she never wanted to see my bold word guzzling face again but I’m at peace with it because Kaarija loves me

It’s not like many people even liked the Ukrain song, people just gave points to Ukrain because they felt bad for Ukrain like it’s not even fair you choose to give point for a song you didn’t like but you felt bad.

Eurovision is already as political as it gets. So I find it wholesome in a way that people voted for them out of sympathy. There will always be more Eurovision anyway, so I wouldn't wory about it, although I wish I knew how many people who voted Ukraine actually enjoyed the song.
