For the record, Mike, you are not small! I thought you were shorter than 6 foot two. I’m 6 foot two and wish I could fill out like you have while being lean! Do you really think there is that much more benefit to surpassing 12 to 15 sets per week per body part? I keep over analyzing this whole volume thing and wonder if it’s worth the extra effort if I’m still pushing to 0-1 RIR. I guess you could say I have a chronic case of FOMO!
Great Info! Besides the regular pre/post/creatine and a handful of other useless supplements, as a more seasoned guy (60+) and I'm been working on my getting my T-level out of the toilet (floated between the 320-450 range...which is NOT normal, despite what the medical pill pushers tell you. So I've been doing all those testosterone/hormone/sexual supplements for the past four months: Ashwagandha, horny goat weed, maca, fenugreek, DIM, boron, etc. Yeah, they increased to the 370-478 range, but I still didn't have my zest/zing/libido (call it what you will) until I started supplementing HMB (post workout) and DHEA (morning and evening). Not a steel increase in free-T, but it helped with the low-T symptoms, which I believe many men have even though they technically don't fall into the Low-T diagnosis range. Finally, I couple months ago I got more serious about my gut health. I didn't eat too much junk with harmful sugars and chemicals, but I just took the over-the-counter probiotic and salads and broccoli and vegies. I added one cup of organic kefir (unflavored/sugared and with L.Reuteri) along with a couple tablespoons of organic/fermented real sauerkraut and beets...and I'm popping in the 6 and 7 hundreds. Moreover, that old man (that never seems to want to leave) is finally leaving. I've been doing Intermittent Fasting for the past couple years, but I just can't lose the difficult far. So along wit the above, I'm not taking water-fast day every Wednesday...and together this seems to be the magic formula - at least for 60+ year old me. Finally, what are your thoughts on NSM for we older guys (and also my wife)? I remember you doing episode about this about a year ago, so I'll look it up. I just wasn't interested in yet another supplement back them, so I didn't pay much attention at the time. Cheers!
