Geez! Winnebago should hire you! This is the first coach I’ve “lusted” after in terms of length, features (dishwasher, w/d), awesome modern looks (and paint) and utility. It’s the first interior design that looks like it wasn’t designed by grandma. But I’m worried about quality. I have tons of questions:
    1) How do you find the overall quality in terms of comparison to Newmar and Tiffin?
    2) How has the maintenance costs on this specific rig been?
    3) Why did Winnebago discontinue this awesome model?
    4) How does this compare to the 2018 model (besides having a second bathroom).
    5) Do you recommend it?
    6) Has Winnebago taken any of your mods into consideration?

      1) Comparison to Newmar/Tiffin? I've never owned either, but I've worked on several, and I'd say there is no major difference. All of them have good/bad.
Tiffin puts the Aqua Hot in the middle of the coach, which makes it more challenging to service. Winnebago thinks that the Aqua Hot filter should be under the coach. Move the filter somewhere easy to get to.
2)Maintenance costs? Depends on where you have it done. I do most of my own maintenance, or take it to Unique Customizations in Little River, SC. Take it to Camping World or La Mesa, or any other like place, wait a month and maybe they'll get to it. And when they do, they'll probably do half of what you wanted done. And that probably wont be done right. And then charge you too much. If you buy a new one, it will probably take two years before you actually have everything working all at the same time. Make sure you get everything done during the warranty period.
      3) I do not know why they discontinued the Horizon. Maybe I'll have a collector's item someday, but I doubt it. The Horizon is a more contemporary design inside. Not as much woodwork, but easier to keep clean. Winnebago cut several corners that I didn't realize until I had already bought the coach. They put in an Aqua Hot 400 instead of a 450. It does ok, but it is not as efficient. I installed a household 5-gallon water heater in line prior to the Aqua Hot. It makes the Aqua Hot more efficient, but I only use it when I'm going to be parked somewhere for several days. I just use a separate drop cord to power it rather than wiring it through the coach so I wouldn't have to worry about correct wiring, amperage, circuit breakers, and load distribution. The Aqua Hot 400 also doesn't have the engine coolant connections to preheat the engine.
Winnebago also cut corners on the Horizon by NOT installing heat pumps on all three air conditioners. the front AC is air conditioner only. The mid and aft are heat pumps.
      4) I don't know about the 2018 model.
      5) It's as good as any coach. All coaches, when you look behind the panels and cabinets, they're pretty much all the same. It doesn't matter what brand it is. Some are just prettier to look at.
      6) I haven't contacted Winnebago and they haven't contacted me.

@@uniquecustomizations2222 Thanks for your thorough answer. And yes, I do think you’ll have a collector’s item… or, at minimum, it will keep its value longer.
