    It seems easier and faster to put on a bumper that is rated for flat towing. Like a Rock Hard or Smittybuilt XRC

    This is absolutely BS! Whoever did this installation has no clue what they were doing and you have no idea what you’re talking about! If installed properly there’s no reason this flooring will ever unlock, in my lifetime I’ve probably installed 100,000 plus sq ft of this without one customer complaint in homes and RV’s

    Country Coach?! What year? Ok, Country Coach is/ was owned by Prevost Mortorcoach. Prevost is the RR equivalent. Rockstar upper echelon. Either this was a replacement by chumps OR in 2009 the economic downturn forced layoffs & QC corners were cut. 6” staggering is a must.

    I am rebuilding a vintage canned ham and planning to use peel and stick vinyl 12" tiles. I am taking out the whole floor and putting in a new one. There is a pretreat that you spread on the wood first then let it dry and apply the tiles. Does this sound like it will work? Thanks.

      My best suggestion is to read the manufacturer's installation instructions and see what they say. In my opinion most peel-and-stick products (wallpaper, back splash tile, flooring, etc.) Do not last in RV installs, the other thing to remember is unless you're using the unit full time the temperatures you will see in a trailer can be well over 110 degrees which will cause most adhesives to fail.

    Geez! Winnebago should hire you! This is the first coach I’ve “lusted” after in terms of length, features (dishwasher, w/d), awesome modern looks (and paint) and utility. It’s the first interior design that looks like it wasn’t designed by grandma. But I’m worried about quality. I have tons of questions: 1) How do you find the overall quality in terms of comparison to Newmar and Tiffin? 2) How has the maintenance costs on this specific rig been? 3) Why did Winnebago discontinue this awesome model? 4) How does this compare to the 2018 model (besides having a second bathroom). 5) Do you recommend it? 6) Has Winnebago taken any of your mods into consideration?

    • @uniquecustomizations2222
      @uniquecustomizations2222 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      1) Comparison to Newmar/Tiffin? I've never owned either, but I've worked on several, and I'd say there is no major difference. All of them have good/bad. Tiffin puts the Aqua Hot in the middle of the coach, which makes it more challenging to service. Winnebago thinks that the Aqua Hot filter should be under the coach. Move the filter somewhere easy to get to. 2)Maintenance costs? Depends on where you have it done. I do most of my own maintenance, or take it to Unique Customizations in Little River, SC. Take it to Camping World or La Mesa, or any other like place, wait a month and maybe they'll get to it. And when they do, they'll probably do half of what you wanted done. And that probably wont be done right. And then charge you too much. If you buy a new one, it will probably take two years before you actually have everything working all at the same time. Make sure you get everything done during the warranty period. 3) I do not know why they discontinued the Horizon. Maybe I'll have a collector's item someday, but I doubt it. The Horizon is a more contemporary design inside. Not as much woodwork, but easier to keep clean. Winnebago cut several corners that I didn't realize until I had already bought the coach. They put in an Aqua Hot 400 instead of a 450. It does ok, but it is not as efficient. I installed a household 5-gallon water heater in line prior to the Aqua Hot. It makes the Aqua Hot more efficient, but I only use it when I'm going to be parked somewhere for several days. I just use a separate drop cord to power it rather than wiring it through the coach so I wouldn't have to worry about correct wiring, amperage, circuit breakers, and load distribution. The Aqua Hot 400 also doesn't have the engine coolant connections to preheat the engine. Winnebago also cut corners on the Horizon by NOT installing heat pumps on all three air conditioners. the front AC is air conditioner only. The mid and aft are heat pumps. 4) I don't know about the 2018 model. 5) It's as good as any coach. All coaches, when you look behind the panels and cabinets, they're pretty much all the same. It doesn't matter what brand it is. Some are just prettier to look at. 6) I haven't contacted Winnebago and they haven't contacted me.

      @@uniquecustomizations2222 Thanks for your thorough answer. And yes, I do think you’ll have a collector’s item… or, at minimum, it will keep its value longer.

    • @uniquecustomizations2222
      @uniquecustomizations2222 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In some scenarios it would be hard to remove. On many Hondas the metal bumper reinforcement is removed to install the baseplate. You'd have to locate one to replace it. Additionally, most of these are 3 to 4 hrs to install and will take the same amount of time to remove.

    You can use LVP all day in an RV. That floor is popping because of the way they laid it out. Think about it: You've got 4 planks meeting at every intersection of that floor. So there are 4 ways for that floor to fail X however may of those individual convergence points are (there's a lot but lets just say 100). All it takes is one of those corners, on any of those points to chip, break, pop, or crack, and the whole thing fails. The proper way to install LVP, you would stagger those planks. First and foremost your subfloor must be in relatively decent shape. Make sure it is clean, dry, and flat. Any significant damage to it or uneven sections will make it difficult if not impossible for this floor to work. It has to lay ABSOLUTELY FLAT. Otherwise those planks won't click together properly. Install a decent underlayment if you want. I like the felt/fabric based underlayments like QuietWalk. Even if your LVP has a pad attached to the underside I'd still use it ideally. 1) Run the first course of planks and then make your cut at the termination point at the wall, then, 2) use that plank (if it is at least 6" in length) to begin your next course. 3) Repeat this method and you will have a perfect pattern of joints/seams running diagonally across that floor. 4) It will also NOT touch the walls at any point. Its a floating floor, and that is why it will be fine when it expands and contracts. 5) Use plastic spacers or wooden shims or anything really, approx 1/8" in size, around your entire perimeter in between the LVP and the walls. 6) Undercut existing trim on walls, doors, etc. with a multitool if you don't want to replace all of it. 7) Then finish with quarter round, or baseboards, or whatever trim you prefer to hide your perimeter expansion joint and finalize the install. Picture a huge, heavy area rug, but this rug is made entirely of thick vinyl planks with wood grained patterns printed on it laying in your RV...thats essentially what you're building when you install an LVP floor. If properly installed, it will be beautiful, durable, scratch resistant, and waterproof; and it will last for 20-30 years if properly cared for. This goes for any setting and application whether it be an RV, or a house. Commercial high-traffic LVP is a bit thicker but still uses the same installation process. I've done dozens of these. Not one of my floors has failed. becauseInstallInstall

    Dude none of those problems had anything to do with the flooring. If the flooring was down properly and the subfloor rot issues where fixed the flooring may have been fine. Be honest to many variables.

    I joined FMC in 1981 and many of the engineers I worked with had been a part of Motorhome project. It was intended to be a product to fill the void for the combat vehicle production line. The engineers all said that the motorhome was the "Cadillac" of motorhomes but, unfortunately, the timing of the rollout was right in line with the 70's gas crisis that tanked the RV market. As one of the engineers put it, the FMC Motorhome could drive past anything on the road except the gas station. Actually, I would like to pick one up and restore it.

    How about the fact that the manufacturers build crappy floors and they sag after time and loose there strength. Especially the floors that were made with 2 inch styrofoam laminated to aluminum cross bars ghat are just tack welded and not fully welded. I searched for 6 months looking and seeing construction before I finally bought a 2007 used Springdale by keystone.

    • @matttrackbike
      @matttrackbike ปีที่แล้ว

      The mustard colour was original, very few are still this original colour. There are a few out there with engine conversions. 12 Valve Cummins and late 2000 and aught Duramax have been done. I've had a look at the 7.3 gas engine and 6R140 transmission, just about the same overall size as the original 440 & 727. The transmission body is considerably larger and may require adjustment to the floor. Brakes and steering can be a challenge.
