The first album I bought at Central Station Records every Friday night grabbed my pay then went straight to Central Station Record bar those were the days
Michael was a rock star with insane vocal abilities, no doubt. But my god, Kirk’s backing vocals and harmonies were insanely en pointe and entirely sympathetic to Michael’s lead. They were tight as a combo.
These guys just made a live performance sound JUST LIKE the album cuts, with a few live jams and nuances. SO GOOD. You can tell most of the crowd had not heard of them as they were not dancing/singing along. I would have sold my left testicular appendage to have been at that concert. I did see them live in ‘86 and it was a concert of a lifetime. The timing of this band and their sound/messages was utter perfection. I can’t enough good things about INXS…One of THE best all time.
That was probably most of those kids first look at INXS. You can see the magic happening already and just sense that the band was about to go into superstardom over the next 5 years, judging by how expertly they already performed live.

I prefer this to the commercial stuff. If this is the beginning of their career then this performance is tight as anything. Very competent live players.
