@@fab_structures Can you fur out the CLT Wall with 2x4 & put drywall + paint? All the houses built with CLT that I’ve seen on the internet all have one thing in common, exposed CLT. Nothing is drywalled & painted. Can it cause issues because I know Wood is hygroscopic so the CLT Wall would absorb moisture & in my mind that might trap moisture between the CLT & Drywall? Exposed wood is beautiful but for me it would feel like you’re living in a wood box or crate.
@wd8005 you can totally cover it up with Drywall. We just completed a project which we will hopefully be able to shoot soon using industrial CLT so not a finished CLT since we covered it up. insulated it with woodfiber board and high performance SIGA majvest as a membrane.
@@fab_structuresThis is what I'd like to consider for our next build: CLT walls on T-Studs (or steel), wrapped in a vapor membrane, insulated behind the interior CLT wall with Rockwool or Hempcrete, and plastered on the inside (over the CLT) with hydraulic lime or Termorasante (new Italian aerogel + lime plastering, super insulating). Does that sound possible?
Hey! thanks for the feedback. we are working on new content ! As you know these types of homes take almost a year to build so getting the footage also takes the same amount of time. And a few new ones will be coming out this year :)
CLT is a new concept for me. So can this panel be used as the interior wall without any drywall/finishing?
Yup you are right! We generally apply a clear or whitewash finish on the wood depending on client's preference.
