Feels like the ending was Ecco, despite the vortex becoming a natural part of the world and coexisting with it, felt that there had to be somebody around who could defend the timeline should something else try to take everything over, which ultimately lead to the decision to use the machine instead of destroy it...effectively choosing an eternal life of duty and sacrifice instead of a peaceful and happy one Q.Q
A sad ending indeed, we never going to get to know where in time Ecco went. Unless Defender of the future could be another time-space continuum where Ecco lost the memories of the first two games. Giving place to an Ecco multiverse...
Fun fact: if you fail with Blackfin (the dolphin who ask to follow him at 1:00.00), several times, he will grow tired and give you the stone shatter song after doubting if you are the real Ecco or not. The dialogues become more and more hilarious as he lost his patience...
It really was a beautiful game and is still my favorite for how they were able to achieve that level of creative artistry within the limits of the technology.
Man, I consider myself to be a bit of an Ecco connoisseur and even I wouldn't attempt this game on Hard Mode. I managed to beat it on normal difficulty as a kid but that was only through sheer tenacity and blunt force repetition. The fact that you were able to do it in a little under three hours is impressive, too; I recall spending that long on the globe holder alone.
You know the fact that we don’t have Ecco The Dolphin and it’s sequel called Ecco The Dolphin Tides of Time on the Switch really pisses me off! Genesis Classics Collection that Nintendo says? More like Genesis Horrible Collection!!!

I never got past tube of medusa as a kid... or as an adult.
I can imagine at 23:19 was a bit of a rage moment there.
Ugh. If anyone EVER says they LIKE Tube Of Medusa, they're lying.
Great run, by the way.
The only exception: If they follow it with "'s theme." cause that song kicks ass.
sagesaria it does haha... came to this walkthrough just cause the song randomly popped in my head
I honestly wouldn't have even blamed the guy for using save states at that point
I like the music.
The level itself can eat a** for all I care.
I like it! Seriously!
One thing I really like about the sound design is how they used the FM chip to produce most of the sound effects.

Its still is a beautiful game not was haha
@23:19 LMAO, I can tell you were super pissed. That was priceless.
What the heck is "hard mode" for Ecco? This game was already very difficult for me as a kid.
This game is so nostalgic. And the soundtrack alone is enough for the childhood memories.

I dont use that word in my dictionary when I play video games. This game is a challenge but not hard.
That damned globe holder...
I did it. Once. To the end.
Never again, hahaha!
I beated it two times allready, once you get the grasp is not that hard. This game is wonderfull. Among the very best on the Genesis.
oh flashbacks to autoscroll bullshiiit , but fond memories too , and a new appreciation for the soundtrack :) thanks

I remember how much the Medusa used to piss me off as a kid. Ugh watching this brings back so much anger! 😂🤣 Job well done!
Ah, "Hard Mode"... aka, the mode that's probably not worth it.
From wbat I've then seen and heard, I'd actually like to try this one!
Just add saving, an "inventory" of "keys" collected and a list of upgrades given and Ecco would be perfect
Nice work there Ness. I suck at ecco the dolphin games
They're quite challenging games, I had to practice a bit myself.
The Sea of Darkness 🌊 1:03:22
Do you know where on the switch Sega Genesis library has ecco the dolphin?!?!?!
