    Sir Eric Lander is what's called the REAL PROFESSOR...
    It seem that teaching is his passion and he is enjoying teaching...
    Many of the other professors seem to be teaching just to earn their bread and butter...
    hats off sir...

    RNAP starts transcription at the promoter and continues to add ribose containing nucleotides to the RNA strand until it reaches the "stop" sequence in the gene. If you look at it from the DNA strand, yes it's going 3' to 5' but we describe this enzyme's activity as 5' to 3' since it always adds the nucleotides to the 3' end of the strand (so it's making it 5' to 3'). This means that once the RNAP is finished transcribing, it will be at the 3' end of the RNA strand.

    I beg to differ, there are actually three differences between RNA and DNA
    - deoxyribose vs ribose
    - thymine vs uracil
    - No Double Helix, only single strand of RNA while there are two in DNA

    • @tmd9313
      @tmd9313 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Most high schools in the US will cover this in 9th grade and then students pay to do it again in Uni because not all high schools are created equal. Therefore to make sure, as a biology student, you've covered this, they cover this Freshman year in University.
