      There is less flexibility with this and it depends if you're using 7.0 or 7.1, check out this article support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/115013631487-Product-images?platform=v6&websiteId=63849ecf6a76884fff5026b8

    Can I make the images smaller for increasing the speed of the site purposes . Do the spacers help this way too ? Or the resolution

    hello, great video. Did some experimenting but I don't seem to be able to get the images on the total width of my page, that's a pitty ...or do you know how i can fix that?

    • @BigCatCreative
      @BigCatCreative  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Wendy. The method of doing this depends on what version of Squarespace you are using. You can either add a Banner Image (7.0 depending on template) or a Section Background Image (7.1) or if you're using Fluid Engine you can just drag your images right out to the edge.

    • @Houseofmay
      @Houseofmay ปีที่แล้ว

      I found it yesterday, I use fluid engine thus. It’s amazing it looks so professional now!

    Thank you but how can someone edit the vertical height of the image without adding padding? I.e. shrinking the vertical height of the image without adding spacers above and below and adding padding?

    • @BigCatCreative
      @BigCatCreative  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      To decrease the size of an image you need to put spacers (or other blocks) on the left and right of the block. Then drag those in to make it smaller.
      The only other option is to crop using the cropping slider tool.
      Both of these are covered in the video :)

    How do you get that clickable dot to appear on the corner of the image, in order to get the blocks menu on the left? Nothing happens when I hover the mouse there.
    I am in edit mode.
    ETA: OK, I got it. On mine it's the "+" symbol in the middle of the top border.

    • @BigCatCreative
      @BigCatCreative  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Squarespace has recently changed from the black clickable teardrop shaped dot, to now and Blue plus (+) icon. Click that instead and the Block menu will appear :)

    It is not working if I already have text at the beginning of my post. If i add any spacers next to the picture, then the spacer will crop also my text which i have before picture.

    • @BigCatCreative
      @BigCatCreative  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When you add the spacers and drag them next to the image, make sure you drag the spacer only to the side of the image. You will see a blue line appear and this line needs to only be touching the image, if it spans the whole image and text, then it will land next to the image and text. While you're dragging the spacer just move your mouse around a bit to see the blue line changing and make sure it's only touching the side of the image.

      Sounds like a glitch 😞 have you reached out to squarespace support about it?

  • @writingnoless
    @writingnoless 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is why I like weebly and wordpress, drop and drag boxes, but for some reason my squarespace looks totally different and forces me to choose a template that has a set amount and size for boxes etc. I really want to use squarespace or shopify by I don't see what you have on your screen. Again, this looks way more user friendly like wordpress. Ah so frustrated.

      Hey. Squarespace has recently updated their editing software (yesterday, actually) to the new Fluid Engine support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/6421525446541-Fluid-Engine-Squarespace-s-new-content-editing-experience it's still drag and drop but a bit different than what you see here. We're working on releasing some new tutorials soon and all of our templates (bigcatcreative.com/templates) have been updated with new Fluid Engine tutorials.

    How do I change a line into a Heading without turning the entire Section into the Heading?
    For years I've clicked many TH-cams to "Subscribe" to people and channels I like, as I did now to yours. But nothing ever happened! No one ever sent me an email saying "You're subscribed," I never got any notifications of their future videos, music, or anything at all. Is this normal?

    • @BigCatCreative
      @BigCatCreative  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey James!
      To change one line into a heading you will need to separate it from the next section of text with a RETURN/ENTER (on the keyboard). This will break the text into two paragraphs, then you can change them individually. Right now in Squarespae you can't change text individually if they are in the same paragraph.
      Thanks for subscribing! Really appreciate it. I'm not sure, maybe you have your notifications turned off, here's a help article :) support.google.com/youtube/answer/3382248?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop#:~:text=Go%20to%20the%20channel%20page,%E2%80%9D%20and%20%E2%80%9CPersonalized%20notifications.%E2%80%9D

    "When you go to add an image"? You jump right into a popup with many rows and columns, but move so quickly I can't tell what you did to get it. No point in listening to the rest if I can't take the first step!

    Does this make no sense because I have windows?

    • @BigCatCreative
      @BigCatCreative  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This should work exactly the same in mac or windows. Squarespace recommends using Google Chrome as your browser though, so that could be making a difference.

    ⚠Stop what you are doing.❓Do you have the logo as a transparent background? If so - CROP IT TO MATCH THE LOGO. ✂There's a high chance you have a invisible border around the image. If so NO AMOUNT OF CODE WILL HELP. 👍Like if this helped you. As for me.. I want me days it took to figure it out out back. 😡No reason they don't educate of this in the FAQ's
