    Hello, Nice Video!
    Here are some Quick Questions:
    1. How to add a portfolio section on the home page? and when I updated the latest portfolio/case study it is automatically updated on the home page or not just like News/Blog.
    2. Can we add a load more button to the portfolio section?

    • @BigCatCreative
      @BigCatCreative  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Vishal!
      1. You can't currently link/sync a portfolio section to a different page. To add a Portfolio section on the homepage, you can do it manually with a List Section or a Gallery Section and then link to the URL of your portfolio of your portfolio items. If you created your portfolio WITH a blog, instead of a Portfolio page (see this blog bigcatcreative.com/blog/add-portfolio-squarespace) then you can pull items with a Summary Block to your homepage.
      2. This isn't a built-in option

    Hi! Thanks for the introductionthat I watched in hope of finding an answer to my question: How can I link form my website directly to a special portfolio project. Let's say, I'm a photographer with various types of services. On my page about maternity sessions I then want to link to the portfolio project wit the maternity pictures. I wouldn't want to link to the whole portfolio and expect may website visitor to scroll to find the maternity project among many other projects.

    • @BigCatCreative
      @BigCatCreative  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yup you can do this, you just need to get the portfolio URL. So when you click EDIT and open the settings (where you add a thumbnail image) you can also alter the URL slug. So the link to the portfolio ITEM will be www.yourwebsitename.com/portfolio-page-slug/portfolio-item-slug - you just need to figure out what these are and then you can link to that from anywhere. Check out our video on optimizing URLs as you'll learn a bit about slugs in that if you're not sure

    • @BigCatCreative
      @BigCatCreative  ปีที่แล้ว

      You're right, super annoying! I would either use a Blog, but the down side of a blog is that you can't add Gallery sections within the Blog. So if you want Gallery sections, you could just use Regular Pages and create a main Portfolio page create "thumbnails" that lead to the projects.

    Hi your tutorial was great. I created a portfolio under my non-linked pages, but before that I created separate "blank" non linked pages that are meant to serve as the different "albums". I finished loading photos in to six albums and they all have different url slugs (for example /family-photos. ISSUE and PROBLEM - when I went into my Portfolio page and clicked settings to link the pages, they would not link or sync. The gallery page would have /gallery as a Url slug and I attempted to enter /family-photos behind the /gallery (I.e. /gallery/family-photos. However, it still wouldn't sync or link the pages. What could I possibly be doing wrong? Can these blank customized pages be linked inside the portfolio page? Any Help would be greatly appreciated.

    • @BigCatCreative
      @BigCatCreative  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Carl! If you want to add albums into the Portolio, you need to add a project within the Portfolio as shown in the video.
      Otherwise, you can create a blank page and add links to each album page that you have created, but you'll have to get a bit creative with the design, and this won't be using the Portfolio feature I talk about in this video.
      It's hard for me to troubleshoot this without seeing exactly what you have done or knowing what you want, but our extra support team can help with this if you are still stuck, get in touch at bigcatcreative.com/support :)

      I don't think so, unless you just set up another Portfolio page. Squarespace just increased it to 60 so hopefully they make it unlimited. If you need more than 60 I recommend using a Blog instead!

    Hey there! Is there a way to add a password to a project page? It's strange because I'm easily able to do so when it comes to other pages outside the portfolio pages, but not for individual pages inside the 'Portfolio.' If there is a way, I certainly haven't been able to figure out an intuitive way

    • @BigCatCreative
      @BigCatCreative  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Laura
      I believe you can only add a password to the whole portfolio. The portfolio pages should still be behind a password, but it will be the same password for all pages. You could reach out to Squarespace and ask though squarespace.com/support :)

      Do you mean on your main portfolio page, or the portfolio item pages?
      The portfolio item pages are just regular pages and can be edited with image blocks, gallery sections etc.
      If you're trying to adjust the portfolio thumbnails on the portfolio page, these can be adjusted in the portfolio section settings which we cover in the video.

    Hello, thanks for this awesome video! Recently, I am setting up a photography website, therefore, your tips and tricks are really helpful for me! :)
    However, I‘ve been experiencing some issues with the mobile version (the animation on mobile devices, to be specific) of my main portfolio page. I am currently using the „Hover: Background“-layout and even though it is looking and working perfectly fine on my laptop, the images start to kind of „flicker“ as soon as I start scrolling up or down on my iPad or smartphone (mostly when the adress bar „grows“ or „shrinks“ in browsers like Safari or Edge) which is pretty annoying.
    Is there anything I can do against this issue? Or is it simply a Squarespace issue which could easily be fixed? An answer would be amazing ❤️!

    Thank you for your video. I have a question. How do I embed links of my blog posts which I published somewhere else to my Squarespace portfolio? Like when someone clicks on each thumbnail on my portfolio, I want the thumbnail to take them directly to my blog post. So, how do I link my blog posts to my thumbnails in the Portfolio section? Also, is there a way to turn a page on the navigation menu at the top of my website into a button? Like I want the "Hire Me" page to be a button. How do I do that?

    • @BigCatCreative
      @BigCatCreative  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! So you can't link directly to a blog post from a thumbnail in your Portfolio. Either you link to your Portfolio Item, or you link to your blog post from inside your portfolio item somewhere, or you just use your Blog as a Portfolio instead of using the Portfolio pages. If you want them all to just go to blog posts, then use your blog instead of a the Portfolio.
      Nav button - this depends on what template and version you're using and would probably need to be custom coded. If you're using 7.1 though, you can have one button and you can activate that in the EDIT SITE HEADER area.

      @@BigCatCreative I decided to delete my projects under my portfolio and add Gallery (simple grid) under the Portfolio section. This allows me to insert screenshots of my blog posts and articles, write captions with the blog post and articl titles under each screenshot, and embed links to the screenshots. When I click on each image, it takes me to my blogs. This is how I've created my Portfolio. Is this fine?
      I've added the button as you suggested, but I wasn't able to turn the Hire Me page into a button. Instead, I renamed the page into "Contact Me" on the navigation bar and then I added the button using EDIT SITE HEADER, named the button "Hire Me" and then linked it to the Contact Me page. Is this fine, even though the Contact Me page and Hire Me button share the same URL slug?

      @BigCatCreative  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lindokuhleshandu4024 Sounds like you have found a great solution for you portfolio :)
      Correct, you can't turn a link into a button, you just have to manually add the button using the EDIT SITE HEADER. It's ok to have 2 links that go to the same place, as long as it makes sense for the person clicking (eg you have contact details and hire me details on that one page).
