    I purchased a eero pro and it was delivered today. I listened to your video a couple of times and put both feet in and tried installing the eero myself. Your video was a great help and was EXACTLY the same process as what you explained. Doing the set up in one room was excellent advice. Thanks for the help, it was greatly appreciated.

    I am a cable tech/installer. WOW! partnered with eero for whole-home WiFi. I can tell you that after about 200 installs, it does not matter if you place the beacons in the place they need to be. It’s actually preferable you do so that the mesh can locate the best location.

    • @BTheInstaller
      @BTheInstaller  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for comment. I just installed this on my own, no partnerships. I install mesh systems daily as well. It's a lot easier to do them in a room like I did. They recalibrate and configure again once you relocate. See my orbi video, same thing there. The alignment is easy to see on the orbi app, I always enjoy seeing how they reconfigure after I disconnect and move throughout a house. Have a good day!

      @@BTheInstaller Love the idea of setup all units in one room then move them to different rooms. Good process to make our life easier. I don't have mesh yet but have 3 extenders that work somewhat, but I have order Orbi 2 piece set system based on your recommendation.

      In line with what Jacob said...its my understanding that during the setup of each additional unit it checks to see if it is appropriately located and if you do them all in the same room that will not be valid. But I have just been watching videos to decide what to get so I don't have any real world experience...just going on what I have seen so far.

    @b_the_installer - I am in a 3-story house and just purchased the Eero pro, but mine looks different than yours. It has three eeros instead of one and w beacons. My spectrum modem is in the basement and there is a “switch”. Do I need to connect the first eero into the switch and then hardwire the second and third from the switch connections? That seems right, but I have no idea which wires into the wall connect to which rooms! The labels are faded. Anyway, just wanted to know if they all need a Ethernet connection as opposed to WiFi connect to one another. Thanks for the help!

    • @BTheInstaller
      @BTheInstaller  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah you have the better one. I make a mistake in thinking since the 1 is a pro that I had the pro kit. So you do. You can place one above the other on each floor and if possible or needed, slowly work them across the room too as you go up. Does that make sense? They do not need to be connected to each other by hardline. You can, and if so, i believe you go, mdoen to switch then switch to one router, then out of that router, connect to the one line to the next and then from the next it has to connect directly to the 3rd. Even if you can connect 2 of 3 it will increase power. The 3rd or all 3 can mesh together without hardline too. And if you need a 4th, you can buy a beacon separately and add to get more coverage.

    Is this system expandable? My small church bought one (not installed yet) and I am worried about the placement. Basically, the church is in three parts. A small brick hallway (old part of the church) separates parts 1 and 2. The third part is a separate building right next to parts 1 & 2. I think I can set the three units up in a triangle pattern so that they would be a similar distance apart from what you show in the video. If I could add a fourth unit I think it would be more likely to work. Thoughts?

    • @BTheInstaller
      @BTheInstaller  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello, hope all is well. Yes you can expand. They have individual units you can just keep installing as they ask for more nodes. You can buy another unit now to add or wait and see. But they can be set up in a linear formation, with one in another direction and it will ping from one to another as needed. Many large homes are done this way. Here is the link for the node you seek. amzn.to/3eIsp8r or you can get a more robust unit like the big orbi of there is room on shelves as they're not plug ins

    Curious - I didn't see what you did to the router settings. Did you turn off Wifi/Bridge Mode/IP Passthrough on the AT&T router? I'm about to do this for myself and I'm definitely not a network engineer, so I'm looking for the simplest route! Thanks, and great video!

    • @BTheInstaller
      @BTheInstaller  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can turn off the ATT wifi broad cast in both 5 and 2.4. Just use it as a LAN to the new router and don't have anyone connect to the old router or they will have issues when trying to connect to things like smart products, sonos speakers, etc. That's a good question.

    • @BTheInstaller
      @BTheInstaller  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You go into the settings on the unit that came from the provider, normally it's an IP to type onto computer 192.168.xx.x those x's are numbers that are either on the side of the routers to access their menus or you can find online. And then you just get into the wifi and disable the wifi broadcast once the mesh system is installed....

    I have 8 ethernet connections that need to plug in so my plan was just as you described plug the main Eero to the spectrum modem from one port then add a 8 port switch to the second spot in the Eero (then plug all my hardwire items in there) then just as you did place the other two beacons in other parts of the house. My only issue is I have a quest house in the backyard that I am hoping the second beacon will work with. Wondering if the 9 port switch will be connected correctly?

    • @BTheInstaller
      @BTheInstaller  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, yeah all should work. You would want one of the beacons or pro to be near the back of house and then the other in guest house near the front... i did this with 3 apartments and 3 orbis... it worked very well.

      B I keep getting mixed opinions on the orbi vs eero . I currently have. 400mps with spectrum and they just sent a new modem and router and while i can get 400 on ethernet they cant figure out why wifi is like 20 upload and 20 download !

      B The Installer everything from spectrum worked great until the “ upgraded “ my equipment . They told me i had to get rid of the arris modem router all in one ( that they previously) provided . All i know is my wifi service is horrible now and it want a week ago on my old equipment

    • @BTheInstaller
      @BTheInstaller  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mik5133 I'm not sure what you have? What do you currently have for equipment, spectrum stuff or one of the mesh? The mesh will relay the hard lined speeds you are promised at the top speeds. Upload is still going to suck with spectrum or cable modem in general, but the download should easily be over 100. So definitely use the 5g vs 2.4 as 2.4 is 3 or 4 times slower. The orbi is best most robust routers and they can keep speeds high relaying it 3 and 4 nodes down the line. Eero is more expensive vs the performance. Have spectrum check their shit... the older modems are slower and sometimes they recycle crappy broken/refurb units. You have to demand they get their shit together.

  • @drop9
    @drop9 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Not sure if you did this but didn’t show this in the video but you would need to move the AT&T modem to “Bridge Mode” and move any other Ethernet connections to the Eero or you would have a weird double NAT/Double DHCP issue.
