I look forward to inevitably seeing him make his mark on the music world
That awkward cadence of him talking is very likely just a byproduct of him being delayed in speech development until the age of 10. Missing those developmental milestones are a huge, and I mean a HUGE impediment on a child’s overall psychological development. For what it is worth, this guy seems to have managed to come out like a rather very normal guy. Many people are permanently disabled in some aspect of their lives if they miss those milestones. It’s extremely sad. I work with nonverbal children often times in behavioral therapy. The lights are on, but… they’re missing that crucial component of speech which allows a person to connect with others.
@stefanmargraf7878 Yeah that's why I said somewhat awkward, like it's only a little bit off, I wasn't trying to disparage him at all. That slight pause and insecurity like you describe is exactly what I meant
As someone with autism, I'd say it's more likely that when speaking he speaks as is natural to him. When singing, me and many autistic people will put more effort into mimicking neurotypicals since music is all about the little sounds
i'll never understand how people can struggle to speak so much but when they start singing it's the clearest and most refined voice of a professional. blows my mind. absolutely spectacular.

Being a father of a child that is special needs and being told he may never verbalize was heart breaking. 9 years in and he is starting to talk. He loves music just like this amazingly talented young man. I can't wait for him to break through and sing songs to me. It's crazy how hearing your child's voice can make you cry. Watching this video gave me more hope and made my eyes water.
If you can play music, then teach him so you can play together. If not, then learn to play guitar and sing songs together. This is what music is for. Everyone has a voice, with proper training. And stop listening to doctors... they're the ones making sure you get your shots and keep masking and staying sick... fooled by design. Be grateful in all things.
This made me cry. His voice was unexpectedly beautiful and melodic. It's beyond my ability to describe how this video makes me feel inside. So many positive feelings

The way he was like "Dad, business card?" was so cute cause he has that relationship with his dad as like his person to push him through all of this and help him.
He just like everyone else that needs a buddy, I clearly see his dad right there with him. It's like never easy to swim against the current in a river but you did it man and you found your cling on.
He was a bit nervous. Ryan is a perfectionist and was worried Reggie wouldn’t play the way he wanted to sing it… Reggie came through with flying colors! He’s an incredible human!!! ❤️
exactly this. You can hear he has a bit of trouble finding the words to say what he wants to say, but then he starts singing and he is just there and he is just doing it so naturally it seems.
@@Blingbling880you must be a great mother and your hubby as well must be. I’m sure you’re also extremely proud of your son. I’m 37 and am not autistic but that doesn’t mean this didn’t reach into my heart. We’re all on our own paths and adventures that can some times be very challenging. Having loved ones there as supportive as you has definitely had an impact. Regardless he is a talented young man and has some great pipes. I’m glad he found his passion and that it allowed him to connect with others through it. We all just want people to understand us, we want to connect, and we want to share our joy and passions. I’m not crying, you’re crying. Kidding but seriously, this one made me cry. Mostly because of the beauty of it, but also because of the struggle that came before it and what overcoming that means. Very happy to have come across this performance.
I've met a few people on the spectrum, and that's one thing they share. Whatever their passion, once they engage in it, they are... home. They are doing the right thing, no stress, no anxiety, no difficulty. Circumstances that normally would be very stressful are a mere noise in the background. Optimized people, I'd say. I know this feeling well, makes me wonder whether I was a mild case as well - the standards for diagnosis weren't very good when I was a child...
My husband is autistic and this brought tears to my eyes. Music is so healing for my husband and has clearly done amazing things for you, Ryan!! This was incredible!! ❤
Yes... that hit me hard as well. So many souls who were overlooked in previous eras , now have a chance to connect.... but we need to keep teaching the rest of our population to listen and to care.

Singing has never been something I was good at, but I can tell you that the first time I ever played drums in front of people was one of the most exhilarating experience of my youth. I had only been vocal for a few years and was still very uncomfortable in front of people, but behind that drum kit I felt safe because I could express myself through something else. I always wanted to be able to sing but I know that I'm for sure not good at it.
I'm not autistic but, I have social anxiety...big time. I get what you're saying about singing helping you. It helps me, too. The only songs I can sing in front of other people are the Gospel songs that were born in the fields of slavery. I can't carry a tune with anything else. Ryan is truly amazing. So are you! God bless you, dear.

Yep, I'm noticing that every time I watch Harry Mack there's a little bit of a lyrical buff and inspiration which is due to how amazingly good his freestyles are. Trying to just play stuff on piano gives you the ability to really fine tune hand motion and control 2 complex things at once, playing rythm games really helps with finger control and following instructions. Overall music is one of the best ways to learn and improve.
I am also Autistic, and go non-speaking on a regular basis, but music is the one thing that truly makes sense to my brain. When nothing else is working the way I wish it was, music does. When I can't speak, I can still sing. Your voice made my cry, Ryan. Thanks for sharing, Reggie ♥

@@templadoomno, they don’t. I get you want to be positive but not everyone with autism has some “superpower” and we’d appreciate if people stopped thinking like that
@charliemayfilms1550 it's so sad that you think that way....in our circle of autistic kids... from 8-24 ....we choose to see their gifts and embrace their superpowers. Mayb if you change how you think...you'd see the amazing in every single autistic human. Been doing this for over 12 years.
@@templadoom its not sad. so many autistic people have disagreed with the "it's a superpower" mindset for a long time. Savant syndrome is really rare. Sometimes it diminishes struggles because people are so focused on focusing on the positives. What about austistic people who don't have any sort of special talent????? Cause there are plenty. How do you think they feel with this narrative that they all have "super powers" but they don't???? Idk if I explained this properly but a lot of us have a problem with it. Just don't generalise.
This is what music is all about! It's not about how fast you can play or how many complicated chords you can strum, it's about communicating in another language, telling a story and being able to express what world cannot. I wish Ryan the best for his musical career!
This made me cry. I absolutely loved this video. Thank you Reggie for allowing people to express themselves in such a fantastic manner. Ryan was awesome! Love his energy. I pray he is successful in everything he does.

Thank you for letting him speak and finish his stuff, while also enquiring about his interests. I know to most this comes as a given, but when I struggle to communicate my thoughts because of autism, it means the absolute world to know you're paying attention and actively listening, it's a soothing feeling in the air. It also gives us practice to communicate further because people like you gradually remove a layer of anxiety that comes with socialising.
As someone with S.A.D. I love when someone goes off on stuff they're interested in becuase I don't have the burden if keeping the conversation going. And if they keep going on tangents it just keeps my adhd brain occupied.

Yes, so impressed with Reggie. He's an awesome communicator and it's amazing that he just knew the song Gravity off the top of his head. He does have quite the repertoire! This is one of my favorite videos!
Thank you for this. I didn't speak except to my mom and brother until I was about 9 (they just said I was "shy", nobody diagnosed ASD back then), but started playing drums at 13 and that was my real gateway to navigating this world. I have a 5 year old son now that was diagnosed a couple years ago, thankfully there is now better understanding and tools to help with the condition, but we still always make sure music and musical instruments are around, I think it's important. How much music can help a person with autism (and possibly other conditions) cannot be overstated, but everyone should try music anyway, it's the closest thing to magic that exists.
It's really beautiful the switch you can see in him when he starts singing. All of the awkwardness and discomfort disappears - he instantly adopts stage presence, crowd work, and most of all confidence. Really beautiful. Thank you for sharing.

@Blingbling880 miss I just have to say, I know it's been a bit but your son has really helped me see that I can also get better and change.
Brings tears of joy. Because you're so loving💙💜💚✨
Good luck to you and your beautiful family brother 🤙🏼♥️
@@FullSpectrumButter Thank you.

That's the beauty of incessant, Everlasting Love 🙏🏼🕉 that's who we all are within.
Me too. Imagining how proud and absolutely elated his parents must be seeing this. What a beautiful story.
I cried too! ❤
I came back to listen again and got goosebumps and felt the exact same way I did the first time. This kid is magical! I hope to get his vocals on a track one day
I'm in tears. What an amazing genuine human interaction. Great singing makes me cry but the story on top of it sent me over.
Thank you for watching. 💙😊
You are one of the few people who see beyond the musicality of this video. There are the best messages in this video: Hope, human kindness, connection and respect. Thank you for your sweetest comment! -Ryan’s Mom
The way he was like "Dad, business card?" was so cute cause he has that relationship with his dad as like his person to push him through all of this and help him.
Absolutely!!!!❤️🙏
He just like everyone else that needs a buddy, I clearly see his dad right there with him. It's like never easy to swim against the current in a river but you did it man and you found your cling on.
What a performance, what a voice. His parents made me so emotional too. The love and the pride in their son was beautiful
We love him so much!!!❤️
you guys are an amazing family❤
I love how when he gets up there you can see he is a bit nervous but as soon as he starts singing he seems so comfortable. Absolutely incredible😁

You can do it to Prince. Ryan brought me to tears today. I love what Reggie is doing with his channel.
Bless you but I’m sure you have some incredible talents.
You are so nice, all of you, thank you ! ❤
I'm not autistic but, I have social anxiety...big time. I get what you're saying about singing helping you. It helps me, too. The only songs I can sing in front of other people are the Gospel songs that were born in the fields of slavery. I can't carry a tune with anything else. Ryan is truly amazing. So are you!

It also gives us practice to communicate further because people like you gradually remove a layer of anxiety that comes with socialising.
