  • This is the procedure for the replacement of the circuit board in the non-serviceable part of the engine Fusebox on 2003 Accord. This will fix a high beam headlight that will not go off even after turning off the engine. The alternative is to replace the entire engine fusebox. The video also covers the steps for the replacement of the ELD in the same fusebox.

    Why wouldn't you just change the whole fuse box instead of taking it all apart. Seems like a lot of extra effort.

      Very good question. The cost for a brand new OEM fuse box was just much at the time.

     @Piyke DIYAutoworksNG UPDATE ON HIGH BEAMS NOT SHUTTING OFF: It was NOT a faulty switch as i had guessed. - I took it to a trusted and Skilled mechanic who solved it! - It was a faulty Headlight BULB! - The bulb worked but it was discolored with a blackened base. - He replaced BOTH high beam bulbs, and put back the 2, 10 AMP High Beam fuses and the problem went away! - No "DRL" light on dash and everything seems ok after that simple fix...

    I had the same issue with high beams staying on all the time. I replaced the entire fuse box assembly with a used one from eBay for $59. This video helped me replace it, and it was very easy. Thanks for the video!

    Hi,
    I have 2019 civic and high beam on passenger side turns on and off( not flashing its more like dimming) some times even with car off. Is there way to determinate if its fuse box or bcm?

      I haven't looked at the schematics for that car, but could be related. Do a wide search online on the issue and see if it reveals some leads.

    FYI anyone watching this, if you replace the whole fuse block and don't get one from an identically optioned car, you will introduce new problems.
    In my case, the HVAC controls and heated seats stayed on with the key out when I swapped a fuse block from a 4cyl LX to my v6 EXL. Now, if you remembered to turn everything off every time you shut the car off it was fine, if you forgot the battery would drain in a few hours.
    Ultimately I repaired mine like in this video.

    Well.. there goes your extended warranty.. LOL my issue is my high beams won't go on. Would that be in the switch? The light comes on the dash showing high beams but the headlamps themselves don't go into high. Any help? Love your videos. Very helpful

    • @DIYAutoworksNG
      @DIYAutoworksNG  ปีที่แล้ว

      😂. For yours, I'll start by checking the fuse for the high beam, and also see if there's 12volts/good ground at the electrical connector to the high beam bulb. Let's see what you find.
      Thanks for the compliment!

      @@DIYAutoworksNG I've only been able to locate the left headlight high beam and right headlight high beam fuses and they're both good. That's why I'm wondering if it's in the switch. Although it feels sturdy, rigid and a good "click"... I was hoping I didn't have to take it out but unless there's another way..... Thank you for your quick reply BTW

    • @DIYAutoworksNG
      @DIYAutoworksNG  ปีที่แล้ว

      I get. And just to be sure, it's not dead bulbs? Depending on what car it is, the relay may be easy to access...

    • @bonscotty67
      @bonscotty67 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was just the bulbs!!! I'm an idiot. I should always start with the easiest fix first. Uuugghh..lol.
      I guess I just assumed the chances of both bulbs being blown were too slim. Nope. That's all it was. Thank you for "guiding" me back before I had the whole front clip dismantled. Lol....

      😂. Happens to me too. That's why going from the easy to the hard is a good approach. Glad you got it sorted. I know a friend who was told her AC system was low on charge and needed a proper recharge. When I saw the car, first thing I observed was that the temperature setting was almost close to the midway mark. Next, I pulled the cabin filter... oh my gosh, one of the dirtiest I've seen! Took care of these 2 and things were back to Arctic temperature again🤣

      This definitely sounds like a stuck relay. It's just about knowing the location of the relay and swapping it out.

    my lhb light doesnt work. switched bulbs checked fuses, etc (even though not the wiring), but my question is; does the circuit board have a failure mode for only one HB not working?

    • @DIYAutoworksNG
      @DIYAutoworksNG  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you've checked bulbs & fuses, my money will be on the wiring. Do you have rodent activity around?
      On the circuit board, I'll have to check wiring schematics and revert.

      Great. Do update if you get to the bottom of it. Maybe the relay control module splits the 2 sides, not sure. Haven't been able to see the schematics though I'm leaning more towards wiring. Here's where a multimeter/power probe will earn its bucks!

      @DIYAutoworksNG  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My money is on a shorts issue. You'll need wiring diagrams for the lighting systems to identify potential components e.g. relays that control the interior lighting. One thing you may do, is just to also check the underdash fuse panel, especially the ones connected to interior lighting. Ensure there aren't corrosion deposits causing a short.

    • @DIYAutoworksNG
      @DIYAutoworksNG  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello,
      I had exactly a high beam that refused to shut down no matter what. What solved it was the replacement of the circuit board I replaced in the video. I doubt an ELD replacement will solve the issue.

    • @DIYAutoworksNG
      @DIYAutoworksNG  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I should state that the actual problem is with a relay that is permanently attached to the circuit board. Because its permanently attached, the circuit will have to be changed.

      Hello,
      Thanks for watching this. Cost to fix will depend on your location and whether you source just the logic board I replaced in the video. In my location (Nigeria), I was able to get a used fuse box for less than $10.
