      agree, everyone shit on Star citizen for teir ship prices. but sto is on par with them on price on ships. star citizen have many ships in 40 to 60 dollar range but still they get hate. and in 100 to 250 dollar range there is even more ships so STO is just as expensive as Star citizen so i wish ppl would just stop gaking at it, all microtransactions is really just out of hand.

       Oh please. There's no comparison here. SC sells many ships that don't even exist. "Some" prices are on par with a few ships....many not even close. CIG sells air to people for hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars. Lmao

      @@MCP2002 I am comparing to the ships and stuff they have made, idiot would compare to stuff that isnt made. so please back at you. 😄and if you did know even a little bit about star citizen you would know you can get almost all but the newest ships in game for ingame money. You dont need to buy anything but the starter pack that is less price than most AAA games.

    When I was walking someone else through the opening of the mudd's bundle, I saw the description stating that you would only get the ship of the faction you were playing. Despite having seen your other video about how the selection worked, I had him open it on his Klingon character, just in case. Had I seen this video, I would have had more confidence that we would get both MW ships. Sad that even after having just seen how it works, I still don't trust Cryptic 100% to really say what they mean or mean what they say. Another good video for those that are considering these types of bundles. Thanks Much!

    The answer is simple: Do you love STO? Then yes, maybe pick up a bundle or two over time and enjoy moving towards a meta playstyle if that's what you're into.
    No? Then hell no. Don't be crazy. Buy a Mudd's Bundle? Do I need to slap some sense into you? Get out of here. Maybe buy a couple zen-store ships if you really like the look of something, as I did with the Trailblazer and the Adamant, plus a few others. _But I don't care about meta at all_ and only play STO to enjoy a Star Trek-ish experience, avoiding combat wherever possible because that's the essence of Trek.
    But sure, if you love combat and have a few bucks lying around, grab a bundle. Help support the game you love.

    I like the way you explain things and bring them closer to us. viewed very soberly. Yes, Star Trek Online is unfortunately very expensive. Awesome vid! From a value standpoint if it has ships you want (Space Barbie, stats consoles traits and so on) its almost always worth (I did not say financially a good idea just by value worth it) Personally, I do pick up some Mudds bundles as I have way to many alts. As for the price... yea expensive, especially for something for a game that you don't really own but paying for the use of on an unlimited basis for that account for as long as the servers stay up and for how long you are interested in the game, lol. Anyway, thansk for the awesome vid.

    Hi, I just wanna say that I appreciate this channel very much. Finally after X years of going in and out of the game I finally got the 10th anniversary bundle. I really don't get the timelock of bundles. Just open all of it in full price. Trust me no one is fomo ing in STO. Heck even in popular mobile games they are very unrestrictive of content to be bought in store. All I'm saying is... Make it available and just pump/jack up the price. I got a lot of effing Zen and nothing to buy. I can explain a case study why Genshin Impact is not maximizing their profits but it will take me an effing essay to say.

    I've only ever got one mudd's bundle and that was the into darkness bundle which was a good choice on my part. Mainly only got a few c-store bundles. Sometimes once very few months i buy some zen using real cash when i can afford it

  • @stue2298
    @stue2298 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Personally i would love to see a one choice option for 5k Zen, this would interest me being able to pick the 1 ship from the pack that is the "good" one or if the 2 ships you want you can buy 2 one option packs. You would be able to still buy the three choice or all choices.
    Spending $50 on an account wide unlock ship is my more likely to sell, than spending $150 on a ship you want account wide and 2 other ships or items that you don't really want.
    If STO removed all older lockbox ships from the promo and infinity and put this in the Zen store price as a typical T6 ship or bundle. Firstly there are already better quality ships in the Zen store and it will let new and newer players get consoles and traits that are so far out of reach then it not worth even dreaming of getting them.

    • @Tormented22
      @Tormented22 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I really like your idea and Cryptic should embrace it. Will I EVER pay $150+ for ANYTHING on an online game? Hell no. Would I pay $50 for that ship I've always wanted? Well yes, as I've bought quite a few $30 ships. So your idea would actually create more sales for them and still gives the whales the option of buying everything, which is of course the ideal scenario for the developers. They should introduce your single-choicepack idea and make the megabundle a little more tempting for those who have far, far more money than sense.

    • @realplonk
      @realplonk 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      wrong, you are just soooo wrong. If this foolish idea would make more money for them then they would be doing it. They make MUCH MORE MONEY with their gambling boxes. But at the end of the day you can get all the lock box ships for free through dilithium farming. @@Tormented22

    _IF_ every single ship available in ANY mudd bundle, where put into a single pack where I could choose 3, it might tempt me. But as it stands there is typically ONE ship in any given bundle that ever makes me want it and even then the price is insane.

    This is one of Cryptics biggest mistakes in my opinion, the premium ship mechanics set them on a path that just heavily incentivises people to only play one character because it gets increasingly more expensive the more characters you want to have good gear on. This restrictive system doesn't make any sense from a gameplay perspective as you can only play one character at a time so its not like having stuff account wide increases its presence in the game, instead its just a purely financial decision that relies on the players wanting something across multiple characters and to literally be willing to pay for the same thing multiple times.
    These mudds bundles was a way for Cryptic to navigate the problem by offering these ships on account wide unlock at a much better price than it'd cost to get them for one character, the kicker is they deliberately design these packs so there's really only 1-2 things of value in them, they also only choose to release them after a significant amount of time after they dropped. The latter ensures those with the money and willpower to do so will have likely already spent money to get it from box on one more or more characters already, like SAB said in his breakdown video he already has this ship on the characters he'd want it on.
    Thus those that really wanted the D7 will likely have already got it by now and the rest of us (also those that paid for it but only for one character) are now being enticed for a slightly cheaper price to buy it account wide. Another spanner in the works is the Campaign reward which allows you to get one of these good ships but only for one character. Personally I'd really like the D7 account wide because I'd like to fly it on my klingon and use the trait on my main but I'd never consider buying it conventionally twice or more so I'm left to contemplate whether I want to spend $150 for what will essentially amount to a ship for one character and a trait for another.

    While you were calculating & inputting the cost from the Exchange I think you glossed over a reason there was no Jovian. Its because it sucks & offers a player very little lol. I think the Starship Trait: Ruin of Our Enemies from the D7 MW FDC is the #1 selling point for this Mudd's Bundle so one has to consider how many of one's toons will use that trait utilizing CSV/FAW for dps. The "Donnie" & Ba'ul are decent to good ships. Then again, all pricing is subjective until you buy/sell then its objective.

Having a 75% discount on all of those bundles for a long time would pretty much guarantee more people buying them. Even though I'm not a fan of the Kelvin timeline. Answer? No. STO is a game propped up by exploiting it's userbase. You know what would be awesome? The ability to pay for a subscription and not have to deal with all of this FTP garbage. I'm fine with throwing the game some money here and there, but I refuse to use a game where I'll feel like a second class citizen because I won't spew wads of cash when they dangle a new shiny. Don't waste your money. You're a user, not a player. The devs have no respect for you, don't reward it.

      @Wolfgang-Schnaufer 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      The stock Cryptic answer to this was that they used to have a "subscription model" when the game started and it wasn't profitable. Well, that was 12 years ago and it's a vastly different world today. STO is also a vastly different game from what it was then, obviously. Would subscriptions work, ie make profit, for STO in this day and age? Undoubtedly. However Cryptic is incredibly, well, not so much lazy, I guess, as comfortable in their product. Until THEIR boss says "hey, our modelling shows you'll make bank if you have a subscription, so do it", they just CBF.
