The Spurs' moves been the most interesting to monitor imo. They've done nothing flashy but everything seems ominously calculated and methodical.

Spurs are scary as heck bc they beat almost every championship level team (Knicks, Wolves, OKC, Nuggets, Lakers) last year basically unaware how to play NBA level basketball. Very talented squad but 19 and 20 year olds werent smart enough to play in close games and they lost about 30 games by about 5 points. With CP3, Barnes and a real point guard they’ll likely win around 40 games just by being smarter. Not counting the offseason development of the whole team.

  • @TimeMachine7773
    @TimeMachine7773 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

What people are not accounting for is that adding CP3 and Barnes will drastically decrease their turnovers. They lost around 15 games last year because they couldn't stop committing turnovers. These two will be steady hands and help control the team and pace. If they and Wemby stay healthy, the Spurs should have wins in the mid to high 30's at least. Their ceiling is probably 42ish. Several western teams who are better than the Spurs got worse. So the Spurs will get extra wins here and there.

Great point. Hopefully, the Spurs are at least a play-in team. Might be wishful thinking at this point especially in the stacked western conference.

@@Mandozen it may not take a lot of wins to make a playin if the west beats itself up and everyone is splitting games with each other.

@@wembychan I wasn't saying they would get into the play in. I was just saying they'll get more wins. I was also just saying that if more teams split their games, the play in teams wouldn't require as many wins. I don't think the Spurs are there yet.

@@TimeMachine7773 Ya the playin last year took 46 wins but the playin in 2022-2023 only took 40 wins which was OKC and the year before that 34 wins. Last year was actually the most wins ever by a 10th seed at 46 wins so i do not think the 10th seed will win 46 games this year. The standings was just so close this year that 1st - 10th was only seperated by 11 Games. Teams like the Lakers and warriors how good are they going to be are they going to be better or get wrose. Alot of west teams have got better and at 47 and 46 wins i just dont see them winning that next year.

Great stuff, i love how last summer everyone was saying Spurs should trade for a star before the Spurs organization had even seen Wemby play a single NBA game. It's about patience and developing the young guys. Spurs are trying to build a dynasty, and most of the times dynasties are built from the draft.

With the new CBA, draft contracts become pivotal in maintaining any kind of ongoing success. To even consider a 5+ year run of top 3 in the league draft assets would be crucial to replace guys that need to be paid with young guys that can step up to the role.

Starting five is gonna be Paul, vessel, Barnes, sochan, and Wemby. Sochan is a four that cuts really well and Wemby could do a lot of high low like what Denver does with Jokic.

    Spurs starters:
    PG - Chris Paul
    SG - Vassell
    SF - Barnes
    PF - Sohan
    C - Wemby
Castle starts on the bench and likely starts the Paul "rest" games and takes over before the season ends.
Spurs win 40 games! They were winning a lot of 1st halves and falling apart in the 2nd. Chris Paul and Harrison Barnes are winning vets and upgrades from last years starters. They will stabilize things in winning time.

The great thing about the 2025 draft is there's a bunch of talented guys coming out that could be great additions to the Spurs. Not just Cooper Flagg. But if they ended up with the #1 pick next year that would be crazy.

the hate on Harrison Barnes is moronic LOL.... ALSO is not a 4 year project the reason WEMBY is so different and ready makes the Spurs push the process really quick and like having a good young QB in the nfl you spend money and build because you will need to pay Wemby later, and i think Spurs will be first to hit the 1B on a contract, if the Spurs suck next season the nba will give them Mr Flagg... also.... Stephon Castle can also turn into a star quick bc of wemby
