Hi Eric, in Scrapbooks there are a bunch of useful auto text enabled reference points, leader lines and view port description blocks. Well worth checking out.
I have been using custom auto-text for years since search and replace didn't exist until recently. I use it for building elevations to tag floor heights, top plates, etc. on multi-story buildings. It's great when you want change a floor-to-floor height across an entire set of documents (from initial rough heights to actual heights). I use for 1st floor finish floor, for 3rd floor top plate, etc. And since I have 10-12 elevations per building, fixing once is a god-send.
AutoText is an awesome tool but I have trouble with number and letter "sequencing" not "resetting". Layout 2022 for Windows does not have the "per page" option that I can find.
Hey Eric. Great video. I see at about 3:45 into the video, Spell Check or some type of text correction shows that you should capitalize Colorado. I don't have any spell check in my version of Layout on my PC. I know you guys use Apple. Is that an Apple only feature? If not, how can I enable spell check or, even better, add Grammarly to help with writing and spelling?
I believe Find (search and replace) is a 2023 or 2024 feature. Just found it under the Text pull-down menu on Windows. I've been waiting for this one forever! Just tested it out and it will automatically capitalize states. Doesn't automatically fix other punctuation, but it will underline words it doesn't understand and did fix some words I intentially misspelled.
Maybe I missed it but how did you actually create the Legend in auto-text? I can see where you have tag in the document setup, but where is the Legend Title and the text box for the tag numbers? How did you set that up? It's a great idea and I'd love to borrow it!
There isn't autotext for an entire legend. It's just for the numbered callouts and those use the 'Sequence' autotext. That way when you add more callouts to a page the number continues automatically.
Not yet. I'll pass the request along to the LayOut dev team. In the meantime, you can group objects by material and assign that group instance the material name...and in LO, the label will autopull the 'GroupName' from the model and display it.
@@SketchUp Any chance the material name feature will show up soon? This is what is holding me back in using layout. In super large complex models it is very hard to manage to group everything by material.
hi eric, of course I liked & live comment, but somebody read this comments? 1 year I ask make like this video about generating report, there is no video on SU youtube chanel about this function, or this is not so importemt function? I hope I see in near future that tutorial. good luck

Thanks for the refresher Eric. Do you think we'll ever get the ability to create our own custom Auto Text?
Is there anyway to show entity's material with lable tool? I think it would be very useful.
