Tiny Tim was my friend. He was the opening act at Steve Paul's Scene for everyone that played there when I was going there from 66-68. He was truly a lovely man. So warm and sweet. He would call people by there first names but always with a Mister in front of it. So I was Mr. Mel. I was lucky to call him a friend and will always think warmly of him.
How absolutely amazing. you should feel proud , what a lucky guy u are to have even spent a hour with Tim let alone be privileged to have him call u Mr. Mel. What a beautiful hearted man he seemed...and what a glorious celeb, so unasumming and so grateful and so adoring of other celebs that he has a real respect for...if everyone had a bit more of tims quality's then showbiz really would be fun. God bless that tiny tim.lol
@@Sol-Cutta I think you misunderstood my post. I didn't spend just an hour with Tiny. I spent three years hanging out with Tiny at Steve Paul's Scene probably couple times a week but at least once a week during those years when he wasn't on the road. I didn't feel privileged, I'm just glad we were friends, he was such a sweet man.
@@meldrucker265 No he didn't misunderstand your post. You misunderstood what he meant. He didn't mean you only spent one hour with Tiny Tim. Read over what he said again and look at "even..."
I agree with you completely. After all the nonsense, Tiny was an honest--to--goodness exponent of vintage vocal stylings. That's why when I decided to record him with my band, I would present him in a serious light. Here he is evoking vocal images of the great Jolson -- th-cam.com/video/-N_jlF-sRqk/w-d-xo.html
Oh my god, I watch this video over and over again, and every time I'm happy as the first. He is such a good man that I am glad! Tiny Tim in the heart, forever!
He estado mirando todos sus videos, sus voz es única me encanta.Tenía talento de sobra.Hubiera sido genial que estubiera tocando su música en este monento.Pero está descanzando e paz😗
The guy really had a great voice if you can get past all the falsetto numbers he became so famous for. When he sang in his normal voice range he was quite good.
@@Stefanio64 my hero, rebel yell, you give love a bad name and stayin alive are amazing songs to listen to if you want to hear him switching between his very low and very high voices
No lo veas como un lamento realmente a tiny tin le gustaban las risas por eso en sus canciones principalmente las mas antiguas exageraba sus expresiones y gestos mientras cantaba para hacer que la gente se divirtiera
His songs are reminiscent of what Hinge & Brackett did in the UK. All very enjoyable old ditties from a bygone era. It's important to keep them alive. That's what Tim & H&B did. 🤍
I started reading “Eternal Troubadour” and there’s a bunch of televised performances I can’t find on TH-cam. If anyone has them can you please upload them?!!! The book just mentioned he performed “At the Codfish Ball” on Johnny Carson. There’s other ones too but I’m too lazy to go back. Didn’t highlight them.
Griwhoolda it’s true! It sounds to me like the key is A but he is playing C shapes which means his uke must be two steps above a baritone tuning? Very interesting
HERE IN CHILE (South America) we had a singer and composer just as "histrionic (exaggerated) as Tiny Tim and his name is Raúl "Florcita Motuda" Alarcón (that is: Raúl "Little flower Bulky" Alarcón) who has later been a representative of the republic from Chile (...I don't know how it came to be... (irony)); "Motuda" also resembles the singer of Freddie & The Dreamers (I'm telling you now) in his acting. Important songs by Florcita Motuda (see live on OTI, Festival de Viña or TV programs): "Pobrecito Mortal", "Final de Siglo", "Brevemente... gente", "Tírale un ajo", etc. (note: he sings in Spanish (our native language). Greetings from the end of the world.
I found dream recall more difficult when I moved to my present home. Then they got better again and then I had a few interesting ends of dreams. Nothing the last couple of days. Are they taking blood?

What's it got to do with who he married. He might well have been married to the Queen of Sheba. I didn't make any mention of his matrimonial status. When I said he was "as queer as a $3 bill" I didn't mean he was homosexual. Just queer, as in strange, as in way out, as in a "little unusual." Maybe my term got lost in translation from the Australian language to your local verbiage.
For such a gifted musicologist, Tiny has such a lack of rhythm instinct. During his 'waltz' moment with the young lady, he is clearly walking in 4/4 time!

Bing would never have had Tiny on if he thought Tiny wasn't talented.
tiny tim is so nice , ridiculous levels of happiness
One of the few appearances from this time where he was actually treated seriously. Nice to see.
Zach Johnson To me too!!!!!!
Zach Johnson Bing Crosby was a class act...and Tiny Tim was a musical genius..with more knowledge than can be imagined.

it was a good period in time for Tiny Tim.
Agreed. Most hosts treated him the way second raters in high school treat the unpopular: by tearing them down to try and lift themselves up. Pathetic.
He looks wonderful in that blue suit

I love the music of Tim!
can't stop listen to it! Love from Holland :)
A great performer and a very good person
I love when he said thank you for the applause in the middle of the song ♡

What a thrill it must have been for Tiny to meet Bing Crosby. He idolized him and all the early crooners

He's playing a concert uke here (or a tenor, not sure). I've never seen him with this larger uke size before; I've always pictured him with a soprano!
