  • IndiGo recently made a record-breaking order for 500 Airbus aircraft which includes a mix of the A320NEO, the A321NEO and the new jet on the block, the A321XLR.
However IndiGo is known to specialise in domestic routes and The A321XLR is popular due to the longer range it can offer compared to the regular A320 and A321. IndiGo’s biggest deal therefore has come as something of a shock.

A factory in Germany will assemble all the 321XLR, so Airbus probably expect a lot of interest in this model.

Indigo should also focus on comfort, and should buy atleast a few wide bodied aircrafts. Trips like India to America require more comfort. An A330 would do the job.

Some reports say they are in talks with Boeing for the 787

@@anonymous9843 They haven't ordered it though, they are interested in the new a21xlr. the a321 xlr still can't cover India to USA. It doesn't have that much range

@@kokofruitkokotreeI don’t think even an A330 would be able to do that they would need an A350 ULR like the one Singapore airlines operates for that to be feasible, and that comes in a 2 class premium cabin (no economy seats), which goes against the business model of Indigo who is primary an ultra low cost carries

@@jeruelnathan1845yeah you are right, they would rather operate a b777 with 500+ seats (very few business seats) , just like they are doing it now with wet leased aircrafts from Turkish airlines. A330-800 does have a range of more than 15000 km. More than a B777-300 ER, of Air India which is currently operating on US routes.

IndiGo Airlines could order the Airbus A330neo-800 for longer range in the future ?

not a good aircraft for low fare airlines. Also, the A359 is not good but they've ordered it today. I'd go for the A339 or the B781, more suited for the job.
