@@trym2121 Haha yeah the ideal vlogging camera would really be something like a DJI Osmo Pocket II.
Gimbal beats any kind of OIS or EIS image stabilization. It's a tiny camera with a handle. Just needs a small but high res oled display and some kind of integrated microphone array / shotgun mic.
The really perfect vlogging camera would also capture forward and backwards. Maybe even a 360° camera like the gopro max so you can reframe the shot. And with depth sensor so you can adjust depth of field afterwards.
My point is there is a lot of things you could actually do already, but that isn't done yet.
So we won't run out of things to bitch and moan about for the perfect camera for a long while yet ;)

To be fair, both the slow AF and no exposure compensation look like they can easily be fixed via software. I don't do much video anyway (if there's anything I'm missing it's the handheld hi res shot and 4K photo) but I really hope Olympus packs up some more stuff with updates, this camera is an inch from being perfect

On my em5.2 you've got to set auto iso all, in the settings. Got to video mode, set c-af tracking with face priority and whatever vid format you want, then go to manual mode, set auto iso, aperture and shutter speed, then press then video record button. You'll get auto iso and green tracking square in video mode.
Oh I've seen people use +2 for the af speed for the em1.2 maybe that'll help with the focusing.
    Funny vid. Subscribed.

I have that lens and when I use it on EM1 Mk2 its super sharp. The two cameras essentially share the same sensor, so it's a bit confusing why it looked so bad. Oh this is disappointing. I was series about getting this camera but you're right about the exposure comp in your video. As for the other gremlins, I think it does do better with native lenses from other vids I've seen. Having to adjust exposure comp in video all the time would be seriously annoying. Firm ware update needed for that one. IBIS was killer though, almost worth it for that alone.

Olympus IBIS was a game changer but I'd forgotten how bad their menu system is. Fucking awful. Not sure I'm so bothered about exposure compensation, can you not just set a function dial to change exposure or is everything disabled when recording?

I think you can adjust the metering by setting your camera up in stills mode then hitting the record button instead of going to movie mode. I'm not 100% sure. Haven't used Olympus in a while.

Exposure was just wrong. It didn't focus on your eyes every time, often slightly in front, perhaps your nose or chin. Worth another go with some help from Olympus on what went wrong, the best settings to use, and have a shave.

You are always so funny 😀 it is several week that I would like to buy a camera to start making nature videos, I have Sony and M4/3 lenses and just got a Panasonic GX80/GX85 but AF-C is unusable and also focus peaking is pretty bad. Any M4/3 alternative to Sony a6400?

Sadly the Olumpus is geared towards photos while the Panasonic is more of a video camera. That's worth bearing in mind if you are going to invest in this alleged new camera which is essentially the superior EM1in a plastic body.

@@cameraconspiracies One thing you need to understand, is that the E-M5 is a photo camera first, video second. You have to set it up properly for video. You took it straight out of the store, bet you didn't take the time to set it up. You just expect it to work as you wished. the E-M5 with the proper lens never stopped focusing on you, that was impressive. I agree that it needs improvements regarding auto exposure, but I'm sure Olympus will fix that in the next firmware. That clip you are showing, clearly proofs you did not set the camera properly for video. No camera looks that crappy now-a-days.

    • @cameraconspiracies
      @cameraconspiracies  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

@@MuertoInc I spent about 30 minutes just going through the menu setting it up the way I wanted, asking the Olympus reps questions when I couldn't find a feature. It's not user error, the camera just can't auto expose in the mode I chose. It can't even do auto iso in full manual. And the Olympus reps themselves had no answers for as to why it wasn't auto exposing in video, so you can't blame me. If an Olympus rep couldn't figure it out either, then it's probably the cameras fault.

Any update on this? I went to an Olympus promo event for the EM5-3 today and brought this up, and that rep hadn't heard of this problem. Others in the audience seemed to think it was a setting hidden in the menus . Did you try the steps suggested above by Izan ashari? Thanks for all the laught and great info!

Regarding video AF, if it's like the E-M1X setting the video C-AF speed to -1 makes it way too slow. I imagine Olympus' think was +1 is for sports, 0 is for general use, and -1 is for glaciers; it's really kind of dumb. The 1080p on the E-M5iii seemed pretty soft compared to the G85 as well.

I just confirmed there is a massive difference in video AF performance in 4k and C4k. There is a night and day difference, much quicker and smoother. It's still usable in 1080p just not nearly as good. Of course I'm using the E-M1 ii though, it's supposed to be the same thing.

you should balance the Fuji xt3 on a Olympus to get a stabilized image out of the Fuji...haha
With kit lens, do you mean the 18-55 or that entrance XC kit lens?
Maybe, if you start doing intensive forearm workout training, you could combine the Fuji and a dji.
But I guess your search for the perfect camera has to continue... good luck brother (z6 maybe, Heard- they’ll be on sale)
