Same, but I've had a couple instructors try to teach me and it was either not something they could do or they hated it so I think it all depends on your build!
Love the content. I wouldn't dissuade people from doing this with straight legs though. It is definitely not the way to learn this move and I would highly recommend stretching before trying it, but artistically speaking the straight leg version of this is quite elegant looking (see outside spread eagle move figure skating) . It's also quite scary to perform turns this way as you stand quite tall and your center of gravity is much higher with straight legs which offers less control. Additionally, I think learning to pump with the back leg like taught in this video will feel very natural for backwards skaters, but you can also pump with the front leg too. Being able to gain/maintain speed with either leg allows for more possibilities to keep the style flowing.
I'm learning transitions rn and I struggle keeping my hips/feet all the way open while doing them bc I chicken out and close up a bit... I think if I work on this maybe transitions will be less scary. (open-book roller-derby transitions are what im working on rn, joined my school's derby team)
For some reason this is a move that I never had a problem doing.
It definitely not a favourite for me. My hips hated me for a few days after filming this one.

My go-to skating move whether at the rink
or the tennis court, sometimes impresses
the ladies as well 😏🛼
Merry Christmas!

The heel tip is a game changer!!
AAA I love your hair!! 💜
Thank you 💜💜
I love doing this “surfing” around the manhole covers on the trails. ❤
Great idea!

I liked your comment, I just want to add that the outside spread eagle was mentioned in the spread eagle video linked in the end :)

One of my favourite moves 🙌🏽✨
I have to say, sadly, my hips do not love this move! 😂 😖
Thanks Katie!

💯 this will help. I also have a few videos on transitions and how shoulders and a guide wheel can really help too.
Christmas is tomorrow so how about ice skating with you loved ones fir a video(if they comfortable with it)
That’s exactly what myself and two daughters did this week. It’s not Christmas without a visit to an ice rink. ⛸️
