Julia d3 in t7 is -1 on hit for 10dmg... I use that move quite a bit and its not THAT bad.. ot does ruin the momentum a bit but nothing tragic i would say... and there are alot of moves in t7 that have minus frame on hit, usually low pokes

I honestly want Angel back in Tekken 7 more than any other character, but with a major moveset overhaul. She had so much potential to be a really unique character with cool looking angelic Attacks and stances; but in this game she’s just Kazuya’s Echo Fighter with some Devil Jin mixed in.
Im glad I wasn't the only thinking that, she would indeed be a great addition to the game with the movelist overhaul ofcourse

Oh MainMan, you forgot the best parts about Angel:
- The WORST backdash in the game, bar none. She makes the tiniest steps when she's a Mishima character. You know, a character that's focused on Whiff punishing and MOVEMENT
- She's the only character in the game to have NO 13f or 14f mid, almost as if the developers forgot to give her one. Not only did this make basic poke mixup difficult, but any frame advantage you got from basic Mishima tools (+3 for F4 on block and 122 on hit) were never in your favour since your moves were never fast enough to continue the pressure.
Sure, you could use the frame advantage to bait out a whiff and punish, but since you had the worst backdash in the game, it made playing as her hair-rippingly frustrating in high level tournament play. Nay, EVERY level play since you had Eddy's 14f mid easy mode safe 100 damage counterhit launcher IN THE SAME GAME to go against. Lovely.

Really feeds into my theory that she was meant to be a poking Mishima (not fishing for whiffs but rather baiting opponents into doing something foolish by hounding them with soft-but-fast hits that don't build momentum but drive her opponent nuts) but wasn't given the utility to do so. Her weaknesses (like WS punish) suggest she was meant to compensate by putting her opponent into situations where she wouldn't have to rely on punishing them outright but she doesn't have any of the tools needed to make that gameplan come together (and compared to Heihachi, can't necessarily stay in their face the whole time either because she lacks plus frames to push her opponent around while waiting for that opening).
Doesn't surprise me. TMM never provides any insight beyond running through the movelist.

It's really sad this character turned out to be ass. I would like to see a buffed Angel in Game 7. The character design is one of my favorites.

I really liked Angel but always thought, that she was not fully considered, created, built character and feel deeply sad about, how much potential she could have, like female mishima fighter but didn't ever receive it. Thanks for sharing your opinion about her, Main man.
There are videos of Angel in the beta for the game she was faster & had better frames they changed it when the game was released but Angel can cancel her moves

The fact that she's a female Mishima with unique moves alone is a good enough reason for people to like her or otherwise want her in.
If she was a straight up clone of an already existing character and brought nothing new or original to the table, then she'd be a waste of space.

@@raimondsstokmanis1892 How many mishima's there already are doesn't really matter, if people want a character in then they want a character in, even if it doesn't make any sense.
On the other hand where you might think there are too many Mishimas, I actually struggle with picking anything but Mishima characters. In my case I just think the way the Mishimas are played is so much more fun and enjoyable than the way the rest of the cast is. Not saying that I dislike any other character type, I love the other character types, but I certainly notice that most of my choices in tekken lean towards Mishima or Mishima like characters (Jin, Kazumi, Armor King, etc.). This in turn causes me to look at the differences between the characters instead of the similarities.
Thats just what I think is fun to play as in tekken, though it can't be the same for everyone. Either way what I'm trying to get across is that even if all the mishimas and the mishima wannabe characters have some severe similarities, there are still differences between them which make them unique. So even though there are other options which pretty much covers the same areas, it's not gonna be the same due to simple things such as character personality as well as player interests.

TMM, I've said this since forever but I actually do believe that Harada's intention was to make her shitty, so that no one would miss her in the upcoming Tekken games. In other words, what would you do if you needed to fill a spot with a Mishima character that you did not want to become a mainstay? The perfect answer to that is what we actually got- TTT2 Angel. You should have seen me several years back, trying my HARDEST to make this /beautiful/ character a viable part of my team, and then getting my shit pushed in for all my efforts.
Think about this: You gotta try REALLY fucking hard to make a Mishima character absolutely shitty. Again! EFFORT was put into making her terrible, because the Mishima style is like Street Fighter's Ansatsuken (shoto)- the supreme fighting style of the franchise. And instead of her being good, or even halfway decent, she played like a cripple standing in quicksand. I cry every time. The only original part of her kit worth mentioning was her db1+2: it refloated EVERYTHING done on the ground. But her damage was shit anyway so it certainly wasn't worth the tears I shed trying to make her useful.

The funny thing about Tag 2 was the DLC characters were rather underpowered and needed some high technicality to get performance out of them. Angel, Kunimitsu, if they came out in T7 they would have endless strings, tools and no drawsides.
Wasn't Slim Bob intentionally flawed in a few ways because Bob wasn't used to being in shape so it affected his ability to perform moves?
Well the DLCs were free anyways so that's why. If it was paid, they would definitely put in some effort to the characters.

As a kid Angel was my favorite, i knew how bad she was but she was broken in hitboxes she ducks sooo many mids no one labed her but me. And she was good if you worked for it that is.
All of this -- but you didn't mention her backdash? I feel like if she had a good backdash, stature kick, and Kazuya's df+4,4 she would have been workable. Ooh, and if her flash punches didn't randomly whiff for no reason :-O

When I was playin Tag2 I haven't seen a lot of Angels online there were less Angels she didn't seem popular at all but I personally don't use her she's cool though it would be nice to see her make a surprising return along with Baek, Kuni and Ganryu maybe Wang too.
I feel like you can laser with angel after combo ender and maybe catch someone trying to wake up quickly thinking that they are safe to do so because she slammed them far away? That's like the only thing that came up to mind whenever you'd do a combo with her and she kept throwing the opponent as far as possible leaving her with no other oki setups.
Since her laser also seemed to be more stable than Devil Jin's as it is a straight line from start to finish and has better recovery (or so I feel, correct me if I'm wrong there) I think you can come up with it.
Though the only thing that could evade it would be a side roll wake up or staying on the ground? but it looks like a nice setup imo and the opponent would have to just think about "side roll wake up only" because staying on the ground would give Angel opportunity to get up close again.
Sadly many of her tools are kinda bad to keep pressure going but I thought the laser thing would be a nice idea to troll players out in trying to instant wake up without rolling to the sides. Whoever got caught on the laser would be in for a world of pain lol
But oh well, that's my two cents of ideas when I watched this vid. I'd have to personally boot up my PS3 and test this out in training room one day. lol
I never bothered practicing with Angel so this vid helped me out learning about her moveset and how good/bad she was.
In retrospect, about the "Gigas stomping Angel"... he would.
Some low-tier characters get by because nobody knows the matchup (yes, even Gigas).
But Angel didn't even have that because people know their Mishima matchup.

The wings of Devil Jin and Angel look so good in TTT 2 whilst in Tekken 7 they look so bad..
That's because they remade all the assets in unreal engine 4 and the game was made with practically no budget after the financial catastrophe that was tag 2.

Well the only real reason to use her was if you liked the character, so every now and then I would. But you're right, it was hard to use her. Strangely enough, I had a lot of trouble pulling off electrics with her, much more than the other Mishimas. Maybe it was just me, idk. Either way, whoever I used with her had to be someone that would set up the combo.

You know I’ve always wondered why it was so easy to beat angel compared to the other mishimas and it’s only today I found that it’s because every one of her loves is minus a million frames so even a lazy punish would launch her. Funny how these things work huh.

Honestly, I think Namco sniffed cocaine when they were modifying her, because, I could commend the good moves on hit, but, her slowness and some of those lackluster version of Mishima moves, she could have gone in one of the top tiers if Namco was doing it carefully, not in the trash bin
