Skyrims stealth mechanics were pretty funny. What got me was shooting someone with a bow and if they didn't see you, they'd always say "must be my imagination". Despite the arrow sticking out of them.
I'm playing a sneaky Archer-Mage this time around and it's crazy to shoot them dead between the eyes while they're staring right at me with my drawn, glowing magical bow, then hear, "Huh... Nothing, then." ~lol~
Little do you know, the bandits recently fought an illusionist mage who made them THINK they were shot with a bow. They're not falling for it a second time. Until, y'know, they find out it was a real arrow this time.

In my current playthrough of Skyrim I decided to use the fortify restoration loop to create a ring that improves my sneak skill by a literal factor of 10,000. It improves sneak by just over 1,000,000%. Now I can crouch and become invisible even in front of friendlies. There's not a single being, friend or foe, in the entire universe who can see me when I make myself slightly shorter than normal, EVEN INCLUDING while I'm actively attacking them with magica. They literally can never detect me. They know _someone_ is there, _somewhere_ , but the ring is so OP that if I'm not standing upright, I'm totally and permanently invisible. It's fun.
@@lalloronadelmuerto9156 The fortify loop is where you use alchemy to raise your enchanting to raise your alchemy to raise your enchanting, then improve it some more, etc. Then at the end, you can also throw in a smithing boost. Boom, +1000000% whatever you want.
I kinda feel like this, just with nowhere near that level of increased Sneak (I've got three points in the first perk and a ring giving 20% as my only sneak boosts, aside from what is given by Sneak 100) and I can take out enemies that are facing each other before they fully notice me. If they're not facing each other, they won't even notice (I wiped out three necromancers (two apprentice, one master) as they were seated in pews...even though two of them were right next to each other with the third in the pew ahead of them).
Timothy McLean they can after a little ways through the game. Just long enough for you to feel like it works. Then they rip you out of the locker and give you a kiss with their little mouth. I think that's what's happening at least, it cuts to black.
The silliest thing about those Alien: Isolation lockers is that they're such a long way into the future, but continue to make the same annoying racket as they have done since the 1940s.
Even better, it's not too long into the game that the xenomorph has enough of your shit and just rips you out of it, mostly because the sound drew them to you.
@@Sovereighn2280 the alian is programed to learn from your behaviour hide in lockers everytime he comes around he starts checking them everytime. Use noisemakers to get away he will ignore the damn things and make a beeline to you.
My husband somehow eluded the police in GTA5 after the gold heist at the end by accidentally falling into a sidewalk just around the corner from the heist. The walkway went alongside the building and was sort of sunken so it was below the level of the road. As he panicked because he was stuck, he eventually realized that the police couldn't see him and had absolutely no idea where he was. If I didn't see it with my own eyes, I never would have believed him when he told me about it. Lights... sirens... pandemonium... and those little starts started flashing and ticking down. Absolutely could not believe it!
The Skyrim stealth gets so much more hilarious when you've invested enough time into using Illusion magic to get the Quiet Casting perk; the sounds of dying screams in lieu of big, fuck-off fireballs is suppressed for everything in the game. So you can mark 'deaf' on the laundry list of things wrong with the denizens of Skyrim, but that might have been a given seeing as how a burly beast-and/or-person is shouting dragon swear words at hapless wildlife alongside everything else that moves.
Well, illusion magic is basically messing around with the enemies minds like playdough, so it’s not that they are suddenly deaf now, but literally forcing them to not perceive it

Speaking of paper masks, Okami does the same thing. In the Moon Cave you get a blank sheet of paper to draw on as a mask. This single sheet of paper is enough to fool every single imp in the cave, who think you (as a white wolf) looks just like them and they let you pass harmlessly. I drew a -_- face on mine.

It is basically supposed to hide the true nature of the one who wears it unless you already know what their said nature is. Plus...Do you expect mere "imps" to know how to read? To be fair to AC games, hiding in a crowd is actually a really good way to hide, and having a sword and dagger wasn't exactly unusual for Italian gentlemen of the period. (What's more unusual is that every single civilian is NOT armed to the teeth. 1500ish was not a good period for Italy.)

I mean, they had to implement laws forbiding people from randomly loosing arrows out of their windows for sport (prior to that, the logic kind of was "without aiming, there was no malicious intent", I supose). Renaissance Italy might have being great for art, but was actually pretty weird.
Skipster 999 90 Eh, I'm willing to forgive that because of the limitations of the game - a real world Ezio would be wearing clothes that blend in, it's just that they make him distinct and easily distinguished from the masses for game design reasons. It's the same kind of issue as the civs not being visibly armed - they would be, but if everyone was wearing a sword, it'd be harder to figure out who's a guard and who's a possible hiding place. And if you're thinking they'd recognize his face, there's a couple of major problems with that - the hood makes it harder to catch a good look at the face from the side, so they might not know his face - even if they dueled, their focus would be more on the sword and body movements - focusing on a man's face in a sword fight looks cool and manly, but is a good way to get stabbed with a sword. Plus, crowds tend to make scanning faces a bit challenging - though granted, it takes more than the 3 other people it takes in the game to cause that effect. If you want a bigger flaw, it's the courtesan thing - the guy standing in the middle of a group of 4 dancing, flirtatious, hot women is going to attract a lot of attention. And while some men will spent their time looking at the girls, plenty are going to be glaring jealously at the guy.

The bench is actually a pretty good hiding spot. I played Hide and seek with my family often times at partys and i just sat down with some grown ups... They serched a while for my and literally ran around me and whatched under the table and stuff
The best hiding place I used when I was a scout leader was putting a kid on my back. I would literally be walking around near the kid searching in the dark with one of the kids he was searching for on my back! It would take them ages to find them!
A continuation on the breath of the wild masks, If you buy the DLC and get Majora's mask, your much more exposed and visible than the normal masks, and Majora's mask works on all enemies that can be fooled
Not sure if Skyrim or Elder Scrolls Online has the more ridiculous option. They explained Skyrim but, in certain areas in ESO, there's large barrels and baskets you can hide in. Climbing into one of these will make enemies lose track of you and be unable to find you, even if they're actively attacking you! "Where'd he go? He was literally right in front of me while I was hitting him with my sword a second ago!"
I could say the same about chameleon 100 in Oblivion (have 5 armor components with 20 chameleon enchantment each, they stack to create true invisibility). ALL THOSE ARROWS HAD TO COME FROM SOMEWHERE
Not to mention if you disguise yourself as an enemy spy that is already disguised, you appear exactly like that spy, paper mask and everything to the enemy. Its super stupid but its kinda clever.

If you look at it in third person, you are literally becoming invisible for a second or two. Though that raises the question as to why being very sneaky can make you become transparent.

you can just hide underneath a lizalfos' neck. It sounds crazy, but their programmed line of sight does not cover there. you can literally hide right under their noses
Can confirm, soft locked myself at one point because the ONLY hiding place available in a dead end was a locker, and I'd been using pretty much only lockers, so it just kept immediately ripping open all of the lockers until it reached mine.
Haven't you ever noticed that Frisk would standing NEXT to the lamp from Papy's POV? Someone also said that Sans was trying to make Papy think that Frisk WAS the lamp.
There is a rare thing that happens sometimes in most of the assassins creed games where the guard will quit chasing you and sit down right next to you on the bench. It's priceless.

It works on almost Anyone Super paper Mario: getting chased by simple baddy’s? No worried, just turn 3D and... they dont see you? Well then- oh, you are in 3D but getting chased by 3D baddy’s now? No worries, just turn 2D again Yes.. Logics.... Lego city undercover custumes: wanna join the police? Put on a custume! Wanna be a farmer? Put on a custume! Theres a custume for anything! And they always work... somehow. Little nightmares: getting chased by a chef? Just Hide under a tiny table and your safe, keep in mind that they can look under table, but still the cant see you- even if the were chasing you 1 second ago, your safe!... Oh, and Heres a fun glitch while we are at it. In the bedroom of the chefs, wake the chef up. Get him to notice you and jump on the other side of the bed, walk a bit around and avoid him. And afther a while he Will.... forget that he’d could walk to the other side of the bed, and would just try to Get you from one side. (Ill update this if i find more weird hiding spot/items)

Not really sure how a species of creatures that clesrly havnt even harnessed fire or even individual thought is supposed to look at a human device it has no conceptual knowledge of and go "hmm, I bet that's a storage unit and I extra bet something is hiding in it" Be the same as plopping cat food inside a safe and wondering why the cat hasn't bothered figured out how to use a dial lock.

Aww, but I like the masks in breath of the wild... I figured it wasn't so much as they covered your face but instead, the 'materials' of the mask covered your scent and the likeness added with the posture made it hard for mobs to distinguish you from an ally. They're also for less than intelligent mobs since the Lynel mask only works for half a minute before he realizes something is up.

that one is fairly justified. The mask is simply to interfere with the facial scanners of the robots. Basically, they only look at your head, so if they see an animatronic head then they think you're another animatronic and ignore you. It's the same concept as the anti-bot security a lot of websites have. It doesn't take much to mess with visual scanners.
There’s another one in Skyrim. In the mission “diplomatic immunity” when you visit the Thalmor Embassy there is a table in the corner of one of the rooms as you start to sneak about. If you stand behind it people can’t see you it’s amazing. I completed the mission by drawing enemies into the room, hiding behind the table while pincushioning them with arrows without being seen

I was playing Hitman: Blood Money and assassinated my target, but there was no place to hide the body, so I hid it behind the door of the room and shut the lights off. Yeaaaah, it didn’t work.
There's a part in A Hat in Time where you have to jump on a piano to loosen a dangling key that's too high to reach but doing so attracts the monster person you're hiding from. So where's the best place to hide? Under the piano, of course. In her defense, her back probably can't bend far enough to pick up a kid hiding under a piano but she doesn't even seem to consider the possibility that you're there. Considering her method of killing is by freezing, she could probably just freeze the piano to force you out.

Speaking of paper masks, Okami does the same thing. In the Moon Cave you get a blank sheet of paper to draw on as a mask. This single sheet of paper is enough to fool every single imp in the cave, who think you (as a white wolf) looks just like them and they let you pass harmlessly. I drew a -_- face on mine.
You could literally draw the kanji for "God" and they'd have no idea.

To be fair, Sans knew how his brother would react, so he knew Papyrus would refuse. And for the Zelda masks, I think Lynels are smart enough to figure it out eventually.
With the latter it does say that it "only fools them for a short while. Lynels are smart."
Lynels figure it out after about 3-5 seconds. And then kick your butt because the mask provides almost zero defense.
Also Majora's Mask (DLC item) acts as a universal mask. Expect it actually looks convincing. Still doesn't fool Lynels indefinitely.

To be fair to AC games, hiding in a crowd is actually a really good way to hide, and having a sword and dagger wasn't exactly unusual for Italian gentlemen of the period. (What's more unusual is that every single civilian is NOT armed to the teeth. 1500ish was not a good period for Italy.)

Eh, I'm willing to forgive that because of the limitations of the game - a real world Ezio would be wearing clothes that blend in, it's just that they make him distinct and easily distinguished from the masses for game design reasons. It's the same kind of issue as the civs not being visibly armed - they would be, but if everyone was wearing a sword, it'd be harder to figure out who's a guard and who's a possible hiding place.
And if you're thinking they'd recognize his face, there's a couple of major problems with that - the hood makes it harder to catch a good look at the face from the side, so they might not know his face - even if they dueled, their focus would be more on the sword and body movements - focusing on a man's face in a sword fight looks cool and manly, but is a good way to get stabbed with a sword. Plus, crowds tend to make scanning faces a bit challenging - though granted, it takes more than the 3 other people it takes in the game to cause that effect.
If you want a bigger flaw, it's the courtesan thing - the guy standing in the middle of a group of 4 dancing, flirtatious, hot women is going to attract a lot of attention. And while some men will spent their time looking at the girls, plenty are going to be glaring jealously at the guy.

Not sure if Skyrim or Elder Scrolls Online has the more ridiculous option. They explained Skyrim but, in certain areas in ESO, there's large barrels and baskets you can hide in. From what I understand the Xenomorph in Alien Isolation will eventually start checking lockers and ripping them open if you hide in them too much.
Can confirm, soft locked myself at one point because the ONLY hiding place available in a dead end was a locker, and I'd been using pretty much only lockers, so it just kept immediately ripping open all of the lockers until it reached mine.
Make sure to write on the bag "dead dove. do not eat."

Well, to be fair, owning a sword in medieval times wasn't really that rare to begin with. The bigger problem is the "protagonist robes".
In many medieval cities, it was illegal for most citizens to carry swords. While in many renaissance places, it was all but required to carry them.

I figured it wasn't so much as they covered your face but instead, the 'materials' of the mask covered your scent and the likeness added with the posture made it hard for mobs to distinguish you from an ally.
They're also for less than intelligent mobs since the Lynel mask only works for half a minute before he realizes something is up.

that one is fairly justified. The mask is simply to interfere with the facial scanners of the robots. Basically, they only look at your head, so if they see an animatronic head then they think you're another animatronic and ignore you. It's the same concept as the anti-bot security a lot of websites have. It doesn't take much to mess with visual scanners.

If you stand behind it people can’t see you it’s amazing. I completed the mission by drawing enemies into the room, hiding behind the table while pincushioning them with arrows without being seen

The bench is also used in We Happy Few, along with a newspaper. Only one character can do that, though.
Also: World of Warcraft has at least 20 quests involving a comically obvious hiding place. More if you blur the line between hiding place and disguise, because they use the same joke with disguises.

There's a part in A Hat in Time where you have to jump on a piano to loosen a dangling key that's too high to reach but doing so attracts the monster person you're hiding from. So where's the best place to hide? Under the piano, of course.
In her defense, her back probably can't bend far enough to pick up a kid hiding under a piano but she doesn't even seem to consider the possibility that you're there. Considering her method of killing is by freezing, she could probably just freeze the piano to force you out.
