    Great information. I checked my Omega watches and actually had 2 mid-sized ones (I didn't even know they existed!). One is a 32mm manual wind.. case number 2667-5SC.. Cal. 420 movement. The other is a 32mm bumper.. case number 2492-3 (under that number there is an "H", and under the H there's a "6").. cal. 344 movement.. honeycomb textured dial.

    About the seahorse on the caseback, why do some models have a basic engraving while others have that luxurious raised design? Is it based on the year, or was it done only on the most expensive seamasters?

    • @TimelessHistoryChannel
      @TimelessHistoryChannel  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Some references only come with the printed Seamaster while some have the emblem. But some references exist with all three versions, plain (mainly for engraving purposes), raise emblem (it can be for a specific market, or dial variation), and printed (most common).

    • @TimelessHistoryChannel
      @TimelessHistoryChannel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1-4 will represent Gent's watch. 1 = Gent's Watch, 2 = Gent's Jewellery Watch, 3 = Gent's bracelet watch, 4 = Gent's jewellery bracelet watch.
      5-8 will represent Lady's watch.
      The second digit (1-9) represents what type of movement and the feature.
      The third digit (1-8) represents whether it is resistant or not, and the feature such as chronometer and calendar.

      A great vintage Seamaster is one in great condition. You can buy the greatest Seamaster out there, but if it's condition is not great, will not make it a great Seamaster. There are too many great Seamaster when one is in great condition. Do you know what era of Seamaster do you prefer? 1950s? 1960s?

      Entry level? Maybe price wise on some. But some Geneve can be quite pricey. And many Geneves are actually successors of the Seamaster. For example, a Seamaster 600 like the one in this video changes to a Geneve in 1968. :)

      @@TimelessHistoryChannel Hi, I have a caliber 552 gold plated Automatic Geneve, it has the screw back (165.002) with the seahorse on it. I always thought it was a Seamaster. Serial number is 22181948 which looks to be early 1965, I bought it in 1965 or 1966. So, is it a Seamaster? How come Omega changed between Geneve and Seamaster apparently at random - can you throw any light on that? Also, it got water in it soon after I bought it (SCUBA diving with it!!) and was repaired under warranty so now has a non-Omega crown and crystal. I would like to fit an Omega crown and crystal but from what I have read I need to quote the case number - is that the number inside the case back? Thank you for any help you can give.
