If you turn on friendly fire as Alpha great white, then kill the great white, you can keep spawnkilling it. It only works for alpha great white because its technically a different type.
In survival you can control the very migration and respawn locations can change for most species by mating and leaving your babies built up in population in certain areas. For example I left a bunch of black tips in the great whites spawn and they switched their personal spawn with the tiger sharks for a time. I placed many Ichthysosaurus babies in the arctic areas near the seals and they moved spawn closer to the whale sharks or they just started spawning both locations, instead of just the arctic. The Great Sea map survival btw. It's not a perfect science, but it grants some results and some times full migration. Doubt the devs planned that, but it works many times with good results! Also I am not a boosting glitch player so my games can last a like 3-5 hours to killing the Whale, Megalodon, and the Mosasaurus. So that might have something to do with it, not sure though and maybe not.
If you want to do the gaint octopus thing, just try to find where it spawns and keep killing it until u leave a bunch of it's chunks for the next one that spawns to eat it
