I just found this on the shelf today at retail. I woke up with a compulsion to drive half an hour out to the 2 shops where I have always scored something.interesting. That first KK8 sherry rocked the world. I dont think anyone would even look at an 8 year age statement before that. This sounds like my kind of funk. At this point in the game I only buy strong and powerful interesting whiskys. Sometimes I'm shocked when I taste something that is mainstream and more of a quintessential Scotch, like a good Dewars blend. Thanks for the review.
Great comments, Thanks for sharing I've managed to get a bottle of the 55.8 Bourbon release you reviewed and am very happy with it. Such a big oily powerful spirit there at Kilkerran
I managed to find 3 bottles of the 2021 release (the one after the charred cask) and its phenomenal. I love their heavily peated releases too and the 12 is my favourite entry level lightly peated whisky. Haven't had a chance to try the bourbon 8 or the 16 yet. In the middle of planning a spring trip to cambletown, going to do all the tours while I'm there!
I love that you were able to find this KK8 CS Kevin and it sounds like you found it better than last week's (at least initially). May have shared that I stumbled upon the original 57.1% that you spoke of when I ordered online (not knowing if it would be sherry or bourbon matured). Very happy to hear this is another good one buddy and kudos to you for snagging it! Cheers!
Hah, the only Kilkerran cask strength I have is that first sherried one. It’s one of the bottles I don’t open, in part because it’s precious, but also I’d hope whoever does appreciates the peat, which I’m not the biggest fan of, and I feel is wasted on myself.
That’s amazing it’s finally made it over to you guys. And I do get a little sulphur not as much as the 56.9%abv they released a couple of years ago that was big on sulphur, I find this one a really good balance of sulphur, dunnage warehouse notes to the quality in the sherry casks and the soft smoke. Hope your enjoying it and hopefully more Kilkerran makes it your way.

Thanks for reviewing Kevin.
Informative and honest as usual.

Great review man, I absolutely love kilkerran, the Port cask last year was exceptional. Dying to try this years Sherry Cask but seems impossible lol
Yeah, 2023 Sherry is great. Managed to grab a couple at retail & a couple of the bourbon cask matured. No such luck with the HB or SPLB.
good vid Kevin . good honest review..i hate the fact that the price of quality whisky
is getting silly ...
Great videos :D Dont be afraid of watering it down some more. A few tiny drops is nothing for this dram... :)
The re-charred cask run was late 2019 i believe Kevin. Great review thanks.
Yup. That one is INCREDIBLE.

As far as I remember, no one said the peat was very heavy. But yes it's precious. Hahaha
We just got this one here in Alberta Canada this week. Do you get any sulphur note by any chance?
