Ayeee!!! That bag! You did brilliant work getting it out - was so wrong! I found the same problem - the workman rentovating my shower did not cover the openings to the copper pipes feeding the shower as he drilled new holes for the new fixtures.
Wood and grout and cigarette butt & everything fell down in and the showerhead EXPLODED!!!!
Worse, after we turned the water off, all that garbage went down into hot water tank which also had to be drained & flushed.
Then I had to take the shower cartridge apart & clean all the splinters & gravel from it. Rebuilt the shower head: epoxy, tigerhair, sanding, paint.
It looked like a hotrod, lol - worked long enough until I could get a new one & not worry about another exploding showerhead -- so much pressure!
Wow! So much work and money and all that needed to be done to do the job right the first time and cover everything properly.

It is clean now, and you should have no further problems. I ran into a few undershirts flushed down the toilet in a house I recently bought. The toilet wasn't plugged, but it flushed slowly. Best of luck to you. Keep up the good work.
I am beginingbto think the shirts, and that bag might have been stuffed in the opening originally to keep the hole covered before the toilet was put on, but slid down and then they forgot about it? Hmmm... a good thing to check on any new consstruction or renovation.

You might be right but it must have been pushed really far because we checked it before the installation.
Now we will check all the toilets in the main house while we still have access to the pipes.
