It is certainly an opportune time for RCEP to integrate (pick off) several spectrums of the ASEAN's comprehensive GDP. Most importantly, decrease dependencies on China.

That Takashi Niimani cannot give a fair and balance view. He kept talking to zero Covid principle. What is wrong with China going zero Covid. There is more geopolitical content than trade from the Japanese. He said China is not trusted by the member. What rubbish? It would be good for Japan to leave RCEP. Minister Lufti is more upfront and frank. His bottom line and benefit in trade deal is reality. Takeshi can only said that all should work together. Off course, all should work together, but is it working together as zero sum gain for Japan only or for all. Takeshi should stop talking about the past of what Japan has done which is nothing great or fantastic, but more of what Japan can do in the future. He is trying to avoid the reality.

No matter what !!! China won't let its local market for outsiders. India tried very hard to convince Chinise open their markets. But Chinese never agreed. That's why we have very nagative trade with China.
We diversified trade with China. Now US become no.1 trading partner of India replaced China. Soon our trade diversification will continue Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia will be our top 10 trading partner. Then we will put high import tax on Chinese goods to protect trade diversification.

Typical western minded idea, I think the Indonesia minister pointed it out upfront when he said China has its way of doing thing, what I might add is when in Rome do what the Romans do, you go into someone house and try to tell the house owner to follow your rules, it’s just pathetic, Japanese government officials are now too much of a Western lap dog these days, not that they have much of a choice. Have been living in Asia for many years, and what I like in particular is they do not put their 👃 in someone else businesses. In the West, and certainly this Japanese CEO is belong too, they love to tell others what’s right and what’s wrong based on their “rule of law”. Most Japanese that I know and their culture will be rather reserved and respectful of others.
