It's crazy that the most prevalent idea of 2013 Destiny was that Rasputin was meant to be an Exo, and now we're finally getting that storyline almost 8 year's later.
Yeah, I actually believe a lot of the seasonal content we've been getting the past few years, was originally written by Joe Staton, they've just repurposed it.
that's what I love about the state of Destiny 2 right now, Answers are coming, we heard more about all the Races, Character development on all fronts and secrets happen to be revealed
if there’s one thing I miss from destiny 1 is the genuine mystery that every environment that I went into. I genuinely cannot explain how riveting it was to just find a little side outpost of enemies while exploring and having fun within the world. I hope one day destiny 1 gets remastered and you’re truly able to fully explore the worlds instead of small portions.
Destiny 1 had a better atmosphere and “feeling” than Destiny. Kind of like a mystery feeling? I’ve always had trouble describing it. Maybe character’s a better word?
tbh, I think part of it was that we didn't have any expectations... We were all just thrown into this world, and forced to figure it out. And I mean, it might sound weird today, but the concept of a raid in a FPS back then? We had nothing to compare it to. It was just pure magic and mystery around every encounter. I don't think there will ever be a video game that will compare to the experience of existing in that period of time in the Destiny Community. At least, not for me. I've accepted that I can't relive it, and I'm not chasing the high... anymore. But I really hope that the next generations of gamers can find similar experiences for themselves.
Personally the atmosphere of D1 is what I love most, it had some of that left over Halo DNA in weapon designs and military themes with that touch of space magic in the music.
Destiny 1, while it has its flaws, will always remain one of my favorite games of all time. I rarely play destiny 2 anymore but wow did they build something amazing. A world that took us away from ours, with amazing stories to tell, characters to become friends with, amazing weapons and armor. Destiny 1 made me want to do music as my way of living, and through its soundtrack continuing with Destiny 2's soundtrack the music from this game like many others continues to inspire me. Thank you Evan for making an amazing video and thank you Bungie for creating something amazing that millions of people enjoy and continue to enjoy.

The game launched as a PC exclusive at first but would eventually find itself becoming a cross platform title as its sales blew the roof off steam. Taken King was the vanilla base game's story line, The Red War was the game's first DLC and thus no Destiny 2 came out, what happens past that point though, is beyond me.
I ultimately enjoy d1 and am thankful for the great memories with me and my friends. However, I still wish we got to see the full original story of destiny 1. Crow leading the resistance of defect gaurdians, saving the exo rasputin from the dreadnought and so much more. Funny how now udlren is now crow and rasputin is now getting a exo body.

I remember spending so much time in the Divide on the Cosmodrone because of the really cool fallen walker public event. I would just chill n do patrols to wait and see if people would want to fight it with me. Even now that the Cosmodrone is back, people still hang around that area and greet new players and fight the big walker for that introduction chest. I was also playing D1 after highschool. Knowing that I will never again get to experience saying goodbye to all of my school friends on a Friday only to run home to my PS4 and throw ourselves into the vault of glass is such a crushing feeling. Thank you for helping me to capture some of that nostalgia again Evan
I remember doing the hard raid for the first time. I was a complete noob compared to my friends who grinded every Tuesday. After about 4 hours of grueling wipes and fresturating comms I got it... The Vex Mytho Class. My friend who had been grinding for that one exotic screamed into his mic and was freaking out. I just stood there and was like: Ohh is this good? I also got Fate Bringer on the Templar that same raid. Good times, Good Times. PS Never got a Galajorn thought :Sadge:
I never really gave Destiny much attention until a couple of days after our officially released, deciding to give it a try. I've happily been playing it ever since, but it's nice to see all that happened with the game prior to its release.
For me the the main story always took a back seat to the short stories, every weapon and armor piece was like a page from some random guardians diary these bread crumbs helped keep me immersed in the world and its lore so much so that the potential for new stories feels unlimited and the gameplay is beyond your adverage military FPS shooter in Destiny your guardian can become godly.
Evan, you have a way of making me turn the game on and get excited to play again. Every day I do struggle turning the game on to play bc it's a little stale and just not as fun to grind anymore. (IMO) You are a treasure that the community needs to hold onto. You sir. Thank you. For reminding me why I love Destiny. Thank you.
I still remember my brother telling me about Destiny, I couldn't fully imagine what all it turned out to be. It wasn't until a while later I'd actually get to play it for myself, before I got to play it I got to see my best friend's boyfriend playing it, and it sparked so much curiosity, wonder, and awe in me. I finally got to play it around the middle of the next to last year, and I played it well into Destiny 2's life as well. It was my favorite game until I finally got to experience Destiny 2, then that became my favorite game. I've not stopped playing Destiny, but I've slowed down quite a bit. I don't think I'll ever fully stop though, I deeply and genuinely love the games
Great video…I made so many memories and great friends in those first few weeks of Destiny 1. Been playing since the day it released and I almost forgot some of these things. I love this game, it’s my favorite, and more so for the good times with even better people. That’s what Destiny is to me.
I would love a deep dive on Guerilla Games and their shift from Killzone to Horizon Zero Dawn / Forbidden West. We never got a proper ending for Killzone, and now we never will.
I would love a video on Dark Souls, the first game or the whole series. Personally, I had only vaguely heard of Dark Souls as "that game that people say is ridiculously hard," and never looked into it. When it became free with Xbox Live Gold in the 360 days, I picked it up, and it changed my gaming life. I had always gotten bored of games like Skyrim because you inevitably become a god and all the enemies just fall over. In Dark Souls, this was not the case, but it was far from the "torture sim" narrative I had been fed. My favorite game to date.
Other idea to consider. Something esports.. your breakdown/documentary type vid style is just always entertaining. Any topic you choose that peeks your interests (destiny obviously lol) are always great
This brought back so many nostalgic memories. Thank you even. For this beautiful heart breaking video. I never got into destiny 2 so seeing destiny one and remembering all the memories I made it makes me so sad and I can feel my heart disappearing and leaving a whole. Where tf is my ghost when I need him to heal me.
i would love to see a video about how Exotics have changed and faded in Destiny history. I can't remember the last time i got a exotic weapon drop and was surprised and excited
What made Destiny 1 really special was the fact my older brother bought the game on my 17th birthday. Around the time when I was depressed and socially withdrawn. Out came this Sci-Fi Fantasy of an experience I will never forget. It brought me out of that depressive stupor and along the way, I made friendships that still exists to this day. From cheesing Crota, defeating Oryx with 5 men in their 30s and 40s (some were even parents, having their baby by their side while raiding), and going flawless in Trials with buds across the Pacific. Despite the series flaws, inconsistencies, dark days, and burnout after burnout I can’t help but to love Destiny. Damn…feels surreal to think this game is over 8 years old. Lasting throughout my entire college years, even now. Mr. Evan, thanks for letting me and others go back, reminisce, and remind ourselves how far we’ve come. Happy Holidays, sir.
Jesus the best senior year of High school really hit cause that's when me and my buddies would go home early and quick on reset day to raid and just do things together. Those were the good days now we have all gone our separate ways now.
When Destiny came out, I was fresh out of highschool. Working a terrible steelworking job and saving up each paycheck. When I finally had saved enough, I went to GameStop and bought myself an Xbox One and Destiny, my first big real purchase that I made with my own money. Despite its flaws, Destiny stuck with me to this day, and I still wouldn't trade that time for anything.
Great video, such an interesting story. The current drama around the seasonal model really just makes you think about this stuff in a different light. People don't want a studio to have crunch. But they also want constant innovation, and frequent content. You really can't have all three, it's just impossible for any studio to pull off realistically. You either have crunch that destroys the devs, or you have really long waits between content drops (as we saw early in Destiny's life), or you have less crunch, frequent content drops, but less innovation since the only realistic way to pull off the first two is the sacrifice the third. People get mad about recycling content, but then also get mad if the content takes too long, and then also get mad if the studio forces employees to crunch. Its the classic case of "you cant have your cake and eat it, too". We should be grateful for the great game that we have, considering the absolute mess it came out of.
It’s wild that that dude said “how can anything be bigger than Halo? Well, we’ll find out” and it actually came true. Destiny pretty much paved the way for the live service “hobby games” we see today alongside popularizing the Green, Blue, Purple, Yellow rarity system that used to only really be a WoW thing
Destiny 1 at launch hit different. I remember making a hunter as my first and realized everyone else also made a hunter and switched to titan because NO ONE was a titan. That was the true struggle. Also happy Dinkle bot is gone
Year one was the best time of my life and I look back on it very fondly, everyday after school I booted up Destiny and had a blast for hours on end, getting better in the crucible, doing raids and formimg friendships, bonds even. It was my peak childhood life and damn, do I miss it everyday
i will always love destiny 1!! the mystery the game had...you never really knew what was coming or how you could fight it. the exploration of the different planets to find more answers to the questions everyone had. i hate to say it but, those mishaps during development made the game what it was...because we never seen the true scope of the universe. the destiny 1 we loved, is not the destiny bungie wanted to release but, it gave us more questions about the universe we played in....which was the first time i ever experienced tht in a FPS. it made me want to play more. the traveler, the speaker, the lore beind the weapons, the storylines in the grimoire cards, the mysterious characters, it still gives me goosebumps remembering my friends and i, in chat asking questions about what something may have meant or where it could lead to. RIP destiny 1...
I still remember when Ghorn dropped for me as the guaranteed exotic drop from my first PoE run. I actually ran laps around my apartment 😂 first and last time a video game has made me that excited.
As someone who never played D1, and only seriously started playing D2 in Forsaken-Black Armoury, I think it would be cool to see an overview of all the iterations of Trials, from D1 Trials to Trials of the Nine, and so on
I'll put my two cents here. First time I saw destiny, I couldn't make any sense of the story, mostly because I only watched cutscenes at the time. Still, listening to lore keepers like Byf, Myelin, and Beard Grizzly enamored me with the unique world of this game. For all the kinks and dents, Destiny 1 holds a dear place in my heart, for the story, for the characters, and of course the gameplay and loot. Destiny 2's in a bit of a rough patch right now. Still, if Vanilla D1 is any indication, we'll make it though this. Together, as Guardians.
As long as we’re talking about imperfect games, I’d love to hear you talk about the history of Metal Gear Solid V:The Phantom Pain. I feel like there’s a lot to talk about, a lot of creative gameplay styles, and an incomplete ending that leaves the player wanting more, where there is no more.
i remember one october when i was a kid logging onto my xbox 360 and checking the free monthly games with gold. one of the couple of games that month was halo reach and i had always heard of halo but never played it. i remember being blown away by the graphics and even years later still thinking it was better than the modern graphics at the time. although i had never played an fps and struggled just for my first kill, i instantly fell in love. years later i fell in love with a new game like i hadn’t ever since reach, that game was destiny. i never knew at the time but bungie created my love for the fps genre and still keeps me locked in today
Destiny came out right as I got to my first unit. 19 and away from home, man Destiny was such a connection to friends back home. Such a special time. ❤
I remember spending 8 hours on vosik in wrath of the machines for no reason and I loved every second of that torture. I never took the game seriously prior to ttk and wotm because I was too young to care, but those moments in a party while raiding was some of the highlights of my childhood
I’ve said this in many destiny videos before but I swear destiny 1 was some of my favorite times in gaming, the beta and year 1 were so different for console gaming, the mystery and feeling of pure excitement when leveling up and completing harder objectives and getting rarer items that you couldn’t just buy off random vendors like you can now, just stuff I haven’t felt much in gaming since
It was a dull Sunday afternoon that an old and far-gone Xbox friend mentioned a new game and its free trial weekend. I fell in love with all the stupid and all the amazing. Been a player since then.
Isn't it hilarious that Bungie got rid of Statten (because of his story) but this whole RetCon (because of Square Enix's horrible narrative team taking over) has brought back almost everything Statten originally put in.

I also got Fate Bringer on the Templar that same raid. Good times, Good Times. PS Never got a Galajorn thought :Sadge:
3:13 that's one classy resignation. :)
Destiny is & was always a magical game, it’s the journey that is truly the key to its magic. I can’t wait for light fall and beyond.

Another video idea : Highlighting the most fan favorite seasons ( Season of Opulence, Black Armory etc.)
I can't remember the last time i got a exotic weapon drop and was surprised and excited
little reload glitch @ 23:18 where Strangers Rifle reloads like an auto
It has and will always be the game I love because no matter what I play, no game will ever feel like Destiny or Destiny 2.
I love how we always go back to halo reach when talking about the first Easter egg or the first things about destiny in general
I'd love to see a video on some players most memorable moments, invite players into a call and let them share their story
I guess the frustration comes from what the game could have been. A world of warcraft's impact like.
@@Skm00n A silly argument, Destiny is in the best state its ever been in, and realistically its the best it could be in thr modern day.

The story of evanf1997, destiny's greatest chronicler
300k
It’s wild that that dude said “how can anything be bigger than Halo? Well, we’ll find out” and it actually came true.
Destiny pretty much paved the way for the live service “hobby games” we see today alongside popularizing the Green, Blue, Purple, Yellow rarity system that used to only really be a WoW thing
I’ve been waiting for this, can’t wait to sit back and watch
i want bungie to make the "I hate Destiny, its my favorite Game" either into an emblem or hang that quote high onto all bungie studios
Still remember dropping into odst with my little brother, fucking so awesome, we where kids just having fun exploring. Damn.
i will always love destiny 1!! the mystery the game had...you never really knew what was coming or how you could fight it. the exploration of the different planets to find more answers to the questions everyone had. i hate to say it but, those mishaps during development made the game what it was...because we never seen the true scope of the universe. the destiny 1 we loved, is not the destiny bungie wanted to release but, it gave us more questions about the universe we played in....which was the first time i ever experienced tht in a FPS. it made me want to play more. the traveler, the speaker, the lore beind the weapons, the storylines in the grimoire cards, the mysterious characters, it still gives me goosebumps remembering my friends and i, in chat asking questions about what something may have meant or where it could lead to.
RIP destiny 1...
This is a beautiful video, that ending really got to my soul.
Well done sir... loved watching this and just remembering the past.
Awesome video as always. Also thanks for making me feel old right at the end with the "best year of high school" line.
I still remember when Ghorn dropped for me as the guaranteed exotic drop from my first PoE run. I actually ran laps around my apartment 😂 first and last time a video game has made me that excited.
“you could even get to the max level of 30!” 😹🤣😹
Great history lesson, thanks
i need to see evan talk about kingdom hearts, idk why i just need it
Do a video on your favorite amd most influential retro games. Like what gave you a love for gaming and why. That's my vote.
As someone who never played D1, and only seriously started playing D2 in Forsaken-Black Armoury, I think it would be cool to see an overview of all the iterations of Trials, from D1 Trials to Trials of the Nine, and so on
Finally, another banger of a video. Keep it up Evan, cant wait to see what you make next!
this made me smile man, good job brotha
Quick thing, Evan, might wanna check your captions. It's basically just your script with ALL the liner notes haha
Pls make a video about what makes destiny so special
So many great memories
Thank God for my guild at the time, because I was close to giving up on the game before we all joined together. Its what carried us through D1.
Hey, Evan! Awesome video, as always! My recommendation for a video is about the lawsuit for the rights to the SCP Foundation.
Destiny came out right as I got to my first unit. 19 and away from home, man Destiny was such a connection to friends back home. Such a special time. ❤
"I hate Destiny, it's my favorite game" should've been my senior quote
I came in at 2. but it was the story of the books of sorrow that drew me in.
Another great video. I love your format. Keep em coming!
I remember spending 8 hours on vosik in wrath of the machines for no reason and I loved every second of that torture. I never took the game seriously prior to ttk and wotm because I was too young to care, but those moments in a party while raiding was some of the highlights of my childhood
Evan your one of my favorite you tubers and you definitely deserve more subs than you have
Warframe history video pls. Steve Sinclair's love child. It has such a wonderful underdog story
Topic for a Video:
Speedrun History of a raid or a dungon. Luke who it startet what strats are used witch strats got Teams New wr and stuff
wtf wtf evanf1997 drops the new vid lessssssgo
Isn't it hilarious that Bungie got rid of Statten (because of his story) but this whole RetCon (because of Square Enix's horrible narrative team taking over) has brought back almost everything Statten originally put in.
I'd love to see the development of halo from it's early stages as an rts, to the reveal at Macworld, to where we are now
Destiny came out the start of my junior year in high school. I was 14 then
Im 22 with a son now, but still playing Destiny 2. I'll always come back
Omg those voice actors, so much nostalgia rn, hot damn
CBGRAY SHIRT GOATED
This was a good video evan brought back alot of good memories, good an bad thank you for this
Honestly would be extremely cool to see a video on the borderlands world and universe
I wish I could experience it all over again
All these years later and imo D1 vanilla was the greatest version of the game to date
“Destiny wasn’t just another loot driven game with abilities first and weapons that were just supplemental stats” sitting here confused in Titan shoulder charge!
Wait! Id LOVE a video from you on the Pokémon war.
