After having done some drywall myself, I find it amazing that those tools exist. Even pros here in Brazil don't use them. Fascinating stuff. Also, the time to mask everything before spray painting is a pain. I see why people just roll paint over the walls with minimal masking. The finish isn't the same though.
I would understand if you are not comfortable sharing what im about to suggest, but i think a cost breakdown video of the entire renovation would be very interesting and would potentially do very well. Obviously your situation of being a youtuber who can sometimes get materials and tools supplied by sponsors changes the cost and makes it harder to calculate, but it would be very interesting non the less.
Honestly I'm pretty sure he got most of the materials provided to him. I think doing a cost breakdown video would be more harmful than anything to non TH-camrs because this is a very expensive build and he only paid for a fraction of it
@@chris_piss not really. Drywall costs nothing. His labour does not cost him. The bathroom is expensive, but that is always the case. The flooring is also ok. I dont expect the whole renovation to go over 100k.
@@Marco_zlb yeah. But he got A LOT of stuff sponsored where he either got them for free or at a discount so he wouldn’t know the real cost. Also the cost breakdown would probably only be valid really for people who live in the same country (and probably even only his city) due to the costs being location specific
Always amazing when i see the notification that Alex released a new video Really loving the series and congrats on the beautiful home you building for yourself
It's great to see that it pretty much done and I am sure your neighbours will be glad too (as long there's no renovation starting in another apartment lol). 👍👍👌👌👏👏👏 21:06 - I recognised that storage you've build long ago!
Damn that paint and lighting makes the place look amazing! I love the color choices of the rooms too, they look so good with all that light-colored wooden furniture! Also, changing into different shirts for the different rooms was a cool touch!
so great to see how everything is all coming together. your careful and hard work is shining through! thanks for taking the time to create, edit, and share!
This series is so cool! Love to see every step in the proces of this appartment really coming together. You guys made some awesome design choices so far!
I find it interesting though, that several builders (like Daan Keyzer and Laura Kampf) all recently bought a house or apartment in order to renovate it. Were they perhaps hinted by TH-cam that this may increase views?
When he does return to the workshop I’d enjoy a bit here he walks around as if confused. It’s been a long time. A great detour and likely gained more fans but it will be nice to do some making.
this has been a terrific series Alex and it's been really enjoyable seeing how you've both tackled this. You should be super proud of what you've accomplished and I'm looking forward to what you do with the kitchen. Personally I think having the ceilings and walls the same colour works really well. I saw this done in someone else's house and the whole place just felt more cozy than having stark white ceilings.
Alex...Such a great job mate! This is the first full renovation series I've watched and some of the stuff you've done looked very daunting, but damn...You nailed it! Well done to you and your girlfriend! You've both have done yourself proud! The apartment looks absolutely stunning!
What's the deal with baseboards? I've never understood why people bother when you just can install a small strip of plinth which makes the space way more roomy and coherent
@@David34981 kinda protects the wall against accidental kicks, smears from shoes. Also covers the uneven gap which you solved with your solution I guess. Where I live in Europe atleast we work less with drywall and isntead plaster brick walls with gypsum plaster and that can leave an ugly underside which we cover up with baseboards. I think partly due to that tradition it led to a style of its own throughout the centuries so that may have influenced things in the US as well. But it's all just conjecture from my limited knowledge.
I'd be very interested in a deep-dive on that floor heating. How many square feet is the entire apartment and how much energy do you expect to use to keep the apartment heated per day in the winter?
The quality and diversity of building materials in Europe seems to be much better than the US. I’ve renovated 3 houses in New Orleans and finding quality materials is always a challenge.
painting ceilings the same color as the walls will make the rooms feel smaller - you may consider painting the ceilings white in the future. love your content!!!!
-14°c is brisk. Coming from Australia I am still surprised that people live in areas that routinely stay this cool. I like AvE’s way of describing temperature. It’s either measured in °science or °Frankenstein. That’s how I like to say it :)
Used to live close to where Alex is fixing his place. Those temperatures are just a matter of getting used to, good clothing (or ‘cleather’), insulation, and the fact that there is little wind there make it all in all pretty ok to live in.
One thing I wanted to know. I am a builder Retired in Uk. when you pulled up your floor between joists (beams) It was full of all sorts of dirt and you were stood on it, That is down stairs neighbors ceiling in UK you would be eating your dinner with them if you did that??
Great stuff! I'd love to know the quantity of hours and cost involved. I'll make a ton if you sell it - in America it's called "flipping a house." Love the series! ❤❤
I guess I will always wonder why the windows and the door to your balcony opens to the outside. Here in germany all these open to the inside which I think is especially helpful for cleaning the outside :) but as they say ... other countries, other doors/windows XD
Is it a European, or Norwegian thing, to paint the ceiling the same color as the walls? Here in the US we typically paint the ceiling white, or off-white. I like what you did, but it's very different looking than what I'm used to.
It's a fairly new and trendy thing to do. We have done it ourselves and are really happy with it 😄Probably more common in Scandinavia than other places

finally you said the words I was waiting to hear for a long time: "renovation part is done"
Well done Alexandre and Wilde!! Truly, a monumental task you two have completed here.
Thanks for taking us along for the ride!
What a journey! Congratulations on the renovation!!!
I'm going to miss this series!
The orange color you choose for the smaller room looks really nice. Everything looks awesome in your apartment. I love the series.

I just finished the video, it looks incredible! Great job!
Pretty nice work, Alexandre! It's really looking great there! 😃

Great work. You are the best content creator ever. I admire your work from the Kingdom of Bahrain 😊🇧🇭
What a transformation! Like the colors, same as in my house 😊. Question, will you be adding baseboards (I think you call them skirting boards)?
Artig å se dere på nyhetene. Har vært kult å følge oppussingen. Dere har gjort en utrolig jobb.
Nå gleder jeg meg til andre prosjekter igjen.

@Rob Lester, I suspect that he did that to avoid having to mask off the ceiling prior to spray painting the walls.
Great Stuff!
That's a lot of triming for for trimless openings. :)
looking good, is the orange room a big walk in closet?

Finally congratulations 🎉, but the space between the flooring and the wall there’s about half cm what you gonna do about it.

You should have gone with white ceilings. It will make the rooms feel bigger
At least I would say, usually you would only use the stronger colors on a single wall or 2 in a room.
Nice work 💪👍
Is that normal in Sweden that you are painting your ceiling in a color ? We love it to have it in white in Central Europe.

When are you going back to the studio-basement ???
It seems there is no steam barrier on the outer-facing drywall. I would be worried about mold...
I am wondering if there’s a reason you did not put a vapor barrier between insulation and cardboard on the outer walls ? 🙊
Skirting boards?
Will you do the trimming work yourself? Will you film it?
