This is an awesome look at renovating DIY. One tip: Tool hooks for your drills & tools.. a simple piece of rebar and tape changed my life some 15 years back. Having the drill hang off your toolbelt will blow your mind 😅
I do this kind of work daily and it was painful to watch you struggle with putting that boards up. Not because you did something wrong, but I just know how difficult and frustrating it can be in such tight spaces. So I felt your pain ;-) Great series anyway, I never miss an episode. Cheers!
This is so exciting bud. I cant wait to see what's next. You did well with the drywall mud work. It's definitely not easy, that's why I recommend hiring someone to do the rest of the apartment when you're done putting it up. Great job you 2, and I'm happy for you. This is very exciting, I can only imagine how you guys feel. Good luck with the rest.
I love watching your videos! One thing I realized after doing a ton of drywall mudding, is in the instructions for the mud it says to smooth down with a wet sponge before it drys. Wow did that ever cut down on dust. Just a quick tip at the start of the process. I can not wait for the next video!
Wow! What a beautiful bathroom. You have done a brilliant considering you used alot of materials you hadn't used before and did jobs you hadn’t done before.
I admire the work you’ve been doing, it’s not easy to renovate and a skill you have is to not give up and not be afraid to fail! Everything looks awesome and you’ve got some smart ideas when a sertain problem accurs and you are also very entertaining to watch. I look forward to see more videos. I liked your arcade cabinet video! Keep up the good work! I’ve been to Oslo by the way, I live in a small town in Sweden! Thanks for sharing your hard work with all of us!/Patrik
We have light switch outside the bathrooms but inside every other room and I never questioned it.. but thinking about it now it's might for insulation reasons and also I don't want to enter a pitch black bathroom 🤣
Awesome! :) It is joy to see you happy as you finish things. I like the light dimming feature! I'll have to check local shop for sth like this. I'm looking forward to some more inspiration for other rooms
I would set up test to check that money saving on floor heating... the thermal capacity of the floor may require too much electricity to heat it up to normal temperature.
Wow! You've done an excellent job with the bathroom, looks really nice. Pleased to say I've enjoyed watching these construction videos; really enjoyable content, at least for me. Keep up the great work!
the dim to warm bulbs are great, i have a bunch of philips ones. only issue is i tend to leave them on pretty dim, and so when i turn them up it feels really blindingly bright, and also shows how messy the room is 😂😅
Might be a regional thing? Here in germany for example it's mostly like that too 😄 there might be some inside nowadays but I really only know bathrooms with lightswitches outside here as well
Getting there!! I wonder what is the lifetime and serviceability of these speciality can lights are. That seems like a little headache to repair a light that fails, especially if they no longer are in business and you are reliant on a specific diameter and voltage (which is to say the transformer might also be a problem in the future). Maybe we can have a single standard for residential lighting yet I doubt we are even close to this. Hopefully this company is in business and making the same fixtures in 10 years
NIce work. I like the nice Faraday Cage you have built around your bathroom with the aluminum studs. No more anoying strong cell phone/wifi signals in the bathroom.
I can see how those ceiling hooks could be strong enough in the vertical configuration, but in the horizontal position... you bent that with two fingers, surely there's no way that could hold any weight?
Probably depends on which way the load comes etc. The people that make these systems are usually smarter than I am. But also ceilings don’t need to carry much weight, usually just their own dead weight + some lamps
Jag sökte på "stålprofil" Prova på Norgips hemsida om de har någon katalog över stålprofiler för takskivor. Hängen hittade jag inte i Sverige då jag inte heller vet vad de egentligen heter.
in Norway we have different zones that allow different electrical installations in bathrooms, usually if the switches are outside of the bathroom it is to avoid any electrical code violations, ofc it could also be that is what he preffered
There is code for electrical in "wet rooms". But I see no problem having them on the inside here. (basically just 60cm from shower) I think switches on the outside is just an old standard people have yet to transition away from.
Switching off the lights when someone is inside is a classic European joke :D The switch used to be outside of the room because of safety regulations, to prevent water geting inside of them and possibly electocuting people. Now days the switches are more safe and water resistant so its alowed to instal them in the bathroom, but it mostly depends on your choice.
Varmekabler er faktisk bedre å la stå på den varmen du vil ha de på. Koster en hel haug mer å varme de opp igjen kontra å holde varmen. Iallefall hvis du skrur av helt f.eks!
I saw you do it in the previous videos as well, but why do you need to put two layers of plasterboard on the ceiling/walls? One layer should be sufficient, right?
In some countries it is code to put two alternating layers of plasterboard on the ceiling because that way if there is a fire it takes longer to get through to the wooden beams, because, well, plasterboard doesn't really burn cause it's gypsum.
A single sheet of plasterboard is a minimum 30 minute fire resistance. In his case, it is both for sound insulation but it also fire protection. To prevent fire from spreading from one room to another within X minutes.
A light switch on the inside of a bathroom needs to be water resistant and more secure, since it's always in a somewhat moist environment. It's also safer so if anything would go wrong with the switch, it won't shock you due to the moisture present since it's on the outside where it's dry. All the switches in my home are on the outside for bathrooms as well.
I don't know if you're planning to do this, but try to remove the curtain and place a glass/plastic door on your shower. Trust me, it's a game changer. Considering the small room you have, a double door that opens both ways would be really nice !

@Chris Moon, amazing what one learns by reading the directions.... ;-)
So happy to see the finished bathroom, it looks amazing. Can't wait to see what's in store for the rest of the apartment.
Zeno's paradox of finishing the bathroom: You're always working on half of what's left
Wow! What a beautiful bathroom. You have done a brilliant considering you used alot of materials you hadn't used before and did jobs you hadn’t done before.
Good to see it all come together!
Thank you guys.

You are killing it! Great progress. Any plans for the nook in the bathroom? A linen cabinet would be rly nice right there.
I can see the chore building up. Everybody who has build his own house knows what I mean….😊
I was wondering, why are the lights controls/temperature controls are located outside the bathroom?
Might be a regional thing?

Just take you phone into the bathroom.. control the light from the remote ;)
Why didn’t you put the control panel inside the bathroom ???
Great choices. Question: why not put your light switches within the room you are using?

Perfect job Alex. I have a question. What brand are the switches? I love them so much.
Fun fact: you always spend the most work (and money) in the smallest and least used room.
What are those roof frames called på norsk?

Wet sand that drywall mud. Cuts down on all the dust!
Honestly surprised that you need an electrician but anyone can do the rest of what you're doing
It's turning out great! I just have one question: why are the light switches outside the bathroom instead of inside?
Probably local building code to do it outside. Same here in the UK
Avoids needing water resistant switches or pull cords.
More fun to mess with people
in Norway we have different zones that allow different electrical installations in bathrooms, usually if the switches are outside of the bathroom it is to avoid any electrical code violations, ofc it could also be that is what he preffered

Why put the light switch outside the bathroom?
hey bro huge fan
Hy Alexander, I don't know what is the mismatch near the vents, It looks like a something mess in white
Is it a Europe thing to have the switch outside the room? Would be awkward to have someone close the lights when you are in the shower.

Nah. I think it is just something he is used to or an oversight when he did all the water proofing. They will learn, when their kids mess with them :P
In UK, outside bathroom but in older properties you will find pull switches inside the bathroom.
@@johanness6545 He live in Oslo, Norway.
@@Helveteshit Not an oversight, it pretty much standard in the UK to have light switch outside bathroom / WC.

4:19 Looks like there's black mold in your roof.
I saw you do it in the previous videos as well, but why do you need to put two layers of plasterboard on the ceiling/walls? One layer should be sufficient, right?
His reasoning is it will provide better sound deadening.
In some countries it is code to put two alternating layers of plasterboard on the ceiling because that way if there is a fire it takes longer to get through to the wooden beams, because, well, plasterboard doesn't really burn cause it's gypsum.
It's to comply to fire code, at least it's here in Sweden. And it tends to be similar in Scandinavia. I'm guessing that's at least part of the reason.
A single sheet of plasterboard is a minimum 30 minute fire resistance. In his case, it is both for sound insulation but it also fire protection. To prevent fire from spreading from one room to another within X minutes.

looks easy.👌🏻
That job sucks! Was awesome watching at least try and laugh through it!
Chalkier than Magnus Midtbø!
why 2 layers of jib?
fireprotection. It takes the fire longer to get through two layers than through 1
no way you have that curtains in your modern bathroom
i never got why in europe they put the light switch outside of the room. 🤷♂
Because of the code.
I've asked the question in a previous video, but no one answered.
Is 2 layers of gyps standard in Europe?
For UK, I believe it's pretty much standard for sound and fire rating.
What Ali said 👆👌
