I love Alex. Her vain, faux-intellectual, superior and self-centered attitude while being dumb as a box of rocks makes for great entertainment during their dates. Her monologues are the best/worst! Kiki is also up her own ass but she thinks she's doing it out of altruism while she's just as effed up as Alex albeit way smarter. Carmen is poor girl trying to up herself by sleeping with anybody with money. All these characters have something dark in common which is the theme for GTA IV. Love it.

They're also all overacted caricatures of people, that truly exist IRL. I used to hate GTA's story for all the profanity and non-sense, but reinspecting the games I really like how the devs make their statements. It's the ultimate "We live in a society" game and it really nails the retardation we face but sometimes also exude daily.

and this game came out less than 4 years after san andreas, so much content for such little development window if you compare the 7+ year stretch rn we're in waiting on gta 6 and gta 4 was a huge transition and upgrade from SA and the ps2 era

I never really liked Alex but I think she's as depressed as Niko, not as much as him. If you get her drunk, she'll explain how much she hates herself.

For example, when she says that driving a car is bad for global warming, but if you go out with her with no car, she's going to ask how are you going to get to the place.
Carmen, just wants to get fun, being looked, adored, that people notice her, I think this is the most of the pretty girls in websites. They say they don't care about your opinion, but if it is positive they'll want more.
Not for mention that kind of girl who's just interested in money and if you got none, you don't have any chance with her.
Alex, is the kind of girl who doesn't know what she wants, but it's so selfish. It's kind of intelligent, but she's not using that brain for good things. And actually her feeling of being superior makes her treat other bad.

I honestly can't blame her for being selfish since no one even actually cares about her and acting the way she does if you realize that her usual good mood and superior behavior was just a facade to hide that she's actually miserable and disappointed with herself in which I find surprisingly sad, so I actually can't help but feel genuinely bad for her. She might be a bit crazy and act like she has everything she that wants, but that only expresses how much she's trying to cope with her lonely life all the while she hides her deepest and saddest secrets with her apathetic behavior and superior status. Nevertheless, she's still the most beautiful out of all the rest of the girls that Niko has dated online despite hiding something dark about herself like the rest, it's genuinely quite heartwarming and depressing at the same time that she actually opens up to Niko at one point in one of their dialogues expressing the truth and the way she truly feels about herself.

When Niko said he worked in construction, I think that's one of the few times he legitimately died inside. He told Alex something real that he just wants to be loved inside, and this spoiled rich American girl doesn't compute any of it at all, the part about being loved even flew pass her head.
Honestly, if I were playing the game for the 1st time without knowing the dialogue beforehand and I heard Alex dismissing Niko's tragic confession, I'd have Niko dump her.

I'm such a failure I'm so depressed. Bitch Niko was in a fucking war and was only one of 3 survivors in a group if 15 witnessing things like that and later going through real depression.
Doesn’t matter who had it worse, both of them felt miserably depressed from their own experiences and reasons. That alone is why we shouldn’t judge anyone when they’re being all emotional especially when comparing them to anyone who had it worse like Niko because that‘s just genuinely insulting and foolish.
