As a youth I disliked the fact that the bridges were blocked. Seeing those tall Algonquin buildings from East Hook felt like I was a prisoner locked up on the Eastside of LC. But as I grow older, I appreciate both the ambience & aesthetic of the first three boroughs. Broker felt like a small city of its own, Dukes is a semi gentrified suburbia where the airport is also based at (it is also my favourite borough in the game) & Bohan is both dirty and small but has it’s characters. Then when I finally entered Algonquin, I didn’t like it as much as I expected to. Alderney on the other hand, I appreciate that another state existed but it felt forced.
I agree! Always felt that way seeing it in the beginning myself. Looking back, the bridges being blocked made sense with the story, too. Mass, post 9/11 hysteria crippling the city and keeping the bridges closed for the time being. The in-game radio broadcasts added to that lore as well.

You can cross while barred using subway tunnels but unless your fast you’ll get gunned if you go up into street
Rockstar cops be like: no he is not allowed over here until he complete these missions if he crosses were just going to slay him out
There is actually an ingame reason why the cops go down so hard on you for crossing. At the very beginning of the game, Roman says “Terrorists there's been a big scare and now you can't go across the bridges so good“. He even mentions it's worse for Niko since he doesn't have a Visa. Also at the beginning, the first Weazel News broadcast you hear in the radio is about the LCPD locking down all bridges and main roads as a precautionary measure due to increased terror alert.

@@andreroberson6554 yes it is because GTA San Andreas is more customizable, lots of wonderful cheats like the godlike one baguvix, more vehicles, more features compared to GTA 4 and 5 which have it less but have better graphics, physics, better story because it looks realistic, there are some features made available there that do not exist in GTA SA but that is only few

That’s why I don’t play GTA four because you cannot go around the city until you complete the missions in early in the game

@@shqiptv1147 isn’t that every gta game that u can’t go to the other part of the city before progressing the storyline like San Andreas when u try to go to San Fierro and Las Venturas, u get wanted and u have cops all over u
The middle bridge has a walkway you can drive on to bypass the barricades. You can also wait for them to jump down and hit them to take weapons. You're safe at least in the subways, but escaping a 6 star wanted level is tricky since the radius is half the map, resetting when they spot you. That said even broker, dukes, and bohan probably have some cover. Its fun to steal a squalo south of firefly island then race to alderney while wanted and steal the maverick at the helipad. You can park it in bohan and get an early helicopter without cheats. The hospital in dukes has a vending machine, so you can collect ammo and face noose then heal. This also gives a chance to get the enforcer early on. Getting their guns makes you op for the first 20-30 missions.

You cross the bridge during the fear of the terrorist attack, you'll be in big trouble, trust me I witnessed it before and decided to do the story missions till the fear of the terrorist attack thing is over.

There are easier ways to cross the bridge: the subway and the small space between the roads in the bridge. But you can't escape the police, the 6 stars keep appearing even if you do.

You need to complete the second mission to dispose the cops that are surrounding the bridge with a police car therefore after when completing the second mission of GTA 4 were sour for you to say everything about you need to show the cops who you are as a instinct hunter who is ready for bring down the cops shooting your windows when your are in a car.
10:50 would have been so sick if you had taken the cop car at that point. But yeah maybe you would have been shot while breaking in the glass.
